Today we will go through how you can use Microsoft Excel, and use it to create a basic predictive model for basketball scores.
We will be using league averages to create a metric/value that we can use to compare teams against the league itself. In doing this you can simulate what it would be like for 2 teams to play against another based upon their strengths on offense and on defense.
When doing this, you are going to use many of the formulas that were shown and demonstrated in the prior video of the series.
This can be used for just about anything if you are trying to create a basic and simple sports betting model. No this model will not beat a sports book, but it is ground work for you to create a solid model, as well as teach modeling concepts to try and normalize some of the data that you have.
I have used similar models for NBA, NHL, and NFL. In doing so, I was able to build a more reliable betting model using these concepts.
