This Excel macro is the inverse of Copy Multiple Workbooks into One where separate Workbooks are being combined into one MASTER Workbook. The Update Multiple Workbooks from One macro instead takes the current information from the MASTER Workbook and updates separate Workbooks. If you desire one source of information that can be easily distributed across multiple parties this macro is for you! If you want to secure the MASTER Workbook further refer to our Password Encryption Tutorial to setup additional security to protect the data source.
When this Excel macro runs it will loop through each Worksheet in the MASTER Workbook referencing the Workbook mapping indicated in the VBA code. By Default, the first Worksheet of the separate Workbook will be updated. You can customize this in the code to update a different Worksheet. If no Workbook mapping is present then the Active Workbook Path and Worksheet Name will be used to find a Workbook to update. If nothing is found a MsgBox will appear informing you no update will be made before moving onto the next Worksheet.
I have another Excel macro Save Worksheets as Workbooks that gives the impression that it is updating multiple workbooks from one. What this macro is doing is creating a new workbook overwriting the old one. This can be a problem if worksheets within these separate workbooks are being updated because this macro will delete this information. The Excel Update Multiple Workbooks from One macro is different because it is updating an existing Workbook not overwriting it.

Hello - thank you for another great macro. I have approximately 30 workbooks which are all the same tables in, but the data in them is different. Would this macro allow me to update the table headers from the master sheet and update all the other workbooks? and also, my master workbook has a user form active, is there away where I can update the master workbook with the master user form to then update all the other workbooks?

Nice work. Anyway all the data could be inevitable sheet 1 of the master workbook and then you push the data to the mapped workbooks? I'd like to keep adding customer data to one excel file and then it will update all the individual customer workbooks. Say I have 500 customers. Can the mapping be done automatically if I create workbooks with say a customerID in filename?

Hi I would like to know is it possible to do this other way around. Meaning if I want to change something in the seperate workbooks then the results must get updated in the master workbook. i have 5 excel workbooks with all the sheets named the same. what I want to do is combine the 5 excel files into one workbook with the sheets in each of the excel file file merged together with the same sheet name respectively. for example in excel file 1 there are sheet names sales and items and in excel file 2 there is also sheet names sales and items. what I want to do is combine the two excel files with each other so that excel file 1 sales and excel file 2 sales are merged together and excel file 1 and excel file 2 items are merged together. Is there a way for this? And I want the excel file to be updated on a regular basis maybe weekly once or twice if there are any changes into the 5 excel files then get updated in the master workbook

Hello I do believe that this is possible and I have a macro that may help us get started on what you are envisioning. Excel Copy Multiple Workbooks into One | VBA Macro #11 - leveragelean.com/macros/excel/excel-copy-multiple-workbooks-into-one/ I believe that this would provide what you are describing where you are updating separate workbooks and want that to update to one master workbook. I do believe that there are more updates to make to complete your ask but feel free to email me at brent.schneider@leveragelean.com so we can discuss those changes further! Stay Awesome, Brent
