Note: Chris did do some ‘tidying up’ of the code after shooting, to improve the quality of the completed file. This involved improving the in-code annotations and the structure of the code. No new coding ideas were introduced, however, and the mechanisms all work in the same way. Don’t feel that you should copy every detail of Chris’ approach, however; you now have the tools to design and implement your own powerful Excel userform-based applications. Good luck!

Excellent tutorials! Great pace and very thorough. One suggestion, I very rarely recommend using default values as it leaves you questioning whether the user entered a value or mistakenly skipped over the field.

Thanks for making these great friendly and easy to follow videos. I’m really new to VBA forms. I have two drop down boxes in my form one for date and one for time. The date is showing as text and time as a decimal. Have you got a video to explain how to make them show true time. Also I would like the date to be prefilled with current date. Any assistance or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for such a cool tutorial series. Well done! Quick question, I created my form quickly following your simple instructions, however, my project has many fields for number values and they are all entered now in the database as “text”. This is the same with the “Age” field on your form that I downloaded; it looks like I may have to reset certain default settings. How do I change this, or, how can I recode this somehow? Thank you.

Hi there and thank you! Use the =val() command in VBA and =value() formula in Excel to convert text to numbers where required - good luck!

Sorry! I Create all the spreadsheets correctly including this but when today i open the form sheet the macro is disabled.Please tell me i find this type of response what should i do to save it.

1) ensure the file is saved as a macro-enabled workbooks (use 'Save As') 2) check macro settings - internet search 'Excel macro settings' Good luck!

Hi Chris, I'm facing an issue when tabbing through the form, instead of tabbing in a circular pattern starting off with tab 1 ending up with tab 10 and starting again with tab 1, it behaves in a reversed pattern when tabbing from TAB 10 it moves back into TAB 9, how can I fix this?

Hi there - check the tab index of each of the userforms objects. Google something like "Excel userform change tab order". Good luck!

@@TigerSpreadsheetSolutions thanks chris I found out what went wrong, I have mistakenly duplicated some tabs and they were hidden behind the visible ones, they had random indexes also, I have deleted them all and it's working fantastic now...

Hi huge fan of your beginner's tutorial and I have been using your video every time I create a data entry form! I have a question and I am hoping it is an easy one to solve. I noticed how my combobox has values in it already and as I am clicking down the lists I've entered, once I reach the last one on the list, instead of me unable to go further down and stays on the last option, it goes down to the next textbox or combobox below it. Can you help me with this? Thank you!

This tutorial series has been an incredibly useful tool in learning how to develop macros in excel. For the folks also using this tutorial, I would look into using named ranges in place of ambiguous cells referenced in order to aid with the readability of the macros. when I was using the finished document as a resource to create my own one, I had to pick through a ton of things to figure out what "Row Store" meant from the engine sheet, and what manipulated that cell's value within the macro.

This is not something I have done personally but I know is possible - try an internet search. I have created more manual mechanisms where users choose day, month and year from lists.

Hi, whenever I insert a number in a textbox as you've shown for "Age", the sheet states that an error has occurred (Number stored as text). How do I fix this? I've tried dim as integer but no avail

Tim - you can use the =val() function in VBA to convert the text string to a value when it is inputted to the spreadsheet.

Spark - you can 'export' the userform if you require, just Google something like 'Excel export userform', it's fairly straightforward.
