Hi Bert. New follower from Pa. I noticed that you have your kayak registration and launch permit stuck to the side of the 380x. Was wondering if you have any problem with them sticking with the inflating and deflating of the kayak?
Hey Bert, Really glad to see you back in the 380x (I love mine). I have a question for you. I tried the Sea Eagle cushion with my upgraded high back seat but it didn’t work out as it kept sliding out from beneath me. I noticed you switched cushions. What is the new cushion and why did you switch from the Sea Eagle cushion?
For exactly that reason. The Sea Eagle cushion is the same size as the Deluxe Seat and is smaller than the High Back Seat. I'm using a simple throwable flotation device and it is perfect. Really cheap on Amazon too. I may install velcro to keep it in place even better.
Hi Bert! Was that a Marmot Limelight 2p? I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. I'm torn between the Tungsten and the Limelight. I keep leaning toward the Limelight though. Most of the time it'll just be me and my small dog in the tent, but my understanding is that the L2P is pretty roomy just in case I'd have a second person. I've seen your video camping on Saranac Lake with your Razorlite. I also have the RL and love it. Could you have used the RL on this trip? (As it's my only kayak, I'm trying to get a feel for the types of water I'll be able to kayak on.) I kayak on a local river and some lakes here in AZ (with Matt and Heather, and Chewie and Finn, as a matter of fact). Thanks for sharing this adventure!
Hey... thanks for reaching out! Heather & Matt are awesome. I'm so glad they contacted me to go on a little adventure. Yes... I do use a Limelight 2P and I'm really happy with it. I sold my Limelight 4P that I had for 12 years last summer and replaced it with the 2P because I'm almost always solo and there is a ton of room for you and your dog. My son and his girlfriend used it for a 2 week trip in CO last summer and said it was plenty big for the two of them. The Razorlite could totally have handled this paddle and if I had known we would be setting up camp and not have to carry all of our gear that is what I would have taken. It still isn't my favorite to use when loaded with gear, for what it's worth, when I have gear I totally prefer the Explorer! Maybe I'll get to meet you if I make a trip out to AZ!
@@bertsadventures9974 Thanks so much for information. Have you or your son and his girlfriend used the Limelight in the rain and winds? How did it handle (any moisture inside? Did it survive the wind? Sadly, the RL is basically my only option (well, not so sadly--I do love it--lol). I have a sit-on-top hard shell--but it doesn't have the carrying capacity for that much gear. Yes! If you ever make it out to AZ, it would be awesome to meet you. Take care, Bert!
Yes. I just got it last week, so first time using it. I think I'm gonna buy one for each of my boats. It's awesome, but I'll have to install add'l d-rings to attach it.
Hi Jami! It is a little of both. I use a standard throwable pfd that I put under the high black back seat. I find it to be more comfortable for my legs when they are bent a little bit. Some people complain that the seat is hard, but it doesn't bother me.
Hey Kelli! Long time since you've commented. I've gotta admit that I am an inflatable guy all the way and am actually having some buyers remorse on the hard shell. I haven't used it yet on whitewater, but the inflatables are so much more comfortable.
Hi Nicole! I am in a Sea Eagle Explorer 380X and my friends are in Aqua Glide Chelen 155's. Both are really nice boats. There are so many great inflatable options out there today, but I'm quite partial to Sea Eagle.
