I tuned my mamba x based on your video. And it is sooo smooth and controlled. Transitioning from uhill to downhill is supercontrolled without any sign of freewheelingplay. I can even APPLY throttle going downhill with full controll👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼😬😬🥰
I have a new Puller Pro Stubby V2 1800KV and been having issues with the pinion slipping and jittering at low throttle. Really need some advise as I have not gotten support from Holmes customer support. :(
I would appreciate an updated mamba X programming video! I just got one with a slate motor as a puller was not in my current budget! ❤ Had to update my disaster supplies and defense weapons as well!
I have a 2200kv PP V2 and mamba X on my Capra, and had been thinking of going with a revolver. Interesting comment there at the end about wheel speed. An updated video on mamba x programing would be great.
I have a question for you it has taken alot for me to ask you if you will even read this if you would be so kind as to sponsor me for my scx10 3 rc I really want one of the best motoring the world witch you build please take your time and seriously consider what I am asking you I have spent what money I had on such a great rig... I will plaster your sponsors and stickers all over and I will tell everyone in in the world what an awsome person you are please take I to deep consideration and thank you hope well in advance.....thankyou please look out forthr little man I'll pay you if you will take pYments
In my experience with the MambaX Micro with a Version 1 2200 puller stubby... 5.5 lbs 9 tooth pinion 3 cell Axial scx10.2 with overdrive front diff. It's one of the smoothest combinations I've experienced. Very predictable. Plenty of grunt. The active braking down slopes is awesome too. I also added a 25mm fan over the cooling fins on the Micro. I run it in a competition environment, no water. Hope that gives you some insight.
Thank you for the great video especially the tips for waterproofing, reminded me that I need to pull my v1 PP3500 out of my bomber and show it some love. One quick question, do you have any plans on doing a v2 BLEpro esc?
I pulled the trigger, I ordered this motor today I also ordered the Mamba X to control it. I DO have a question or two, a 15T 32P 3mm pinion comes with the Vanquish Ultra I ordered also. Is this a good gear for the motor? Also do I need a 3s or will the 2 S suffice?
Noob question (always used the brushed holmes motors with a 1080) I would like a Puller Pro V2 2700KV to put in my Element Sendero HD, but what would be the best ESC to combine it with. Looking also to add a little more weight to the truck, planning to run it on 3s
Puller pro or revolver.......revolver for scx10ii, puller pro for steel tube frame .monster truck? Guess I need one of each. Saving my pennies but I will get there soon enough.
Great video - can you confirm if the puller pro stubby supports 4S ( I thought I heard you mention voltage, but I can't find it again in the video). I also cant find any voltage specs on the website for that model. Thanks
I need blushless motor with speed and more Turk for my fms 1/12 jimny Suzuki, will also need server, transmission to go with please recommend me or direct me on how to get them
I know this video is lil old but still amazing can u run this motor non sensorless as well my copper head 10 says its not water proof and i rather use my water proof one but its a sensorless ecu i live up north east and have a run coming up some snow and some streams and mud so i rather play it safe
Did you get your hands on the motor? I'm looking to get rid of mine, nothing wrong with it. Is just too powerful for my liking. Thinning I should've went with a revolver or a fusion
this is EXACTLY the video i needed to see! im currently building a capra kit and had a 550 motor laying around, and found out it would not fit while trying to install it on the skid plate. i have an axe 550 xerun on my traction hobby 1/8 founder 2 and love that motor, but watching your test of the puller pro on another video, and you saying the standard fits in the capra have made up my mind on getting the puller pro 540 standard size for my capra! THANK YOU!
John, rewatching this I only just noticed that you said you could get more wheel speed with the Puller 2200KV than you can with the Revolver. With the V2 Revolver available in 2500KV is this just out of date or is the Puller Pro still faster?
thanks bro I just was looking for more info last week on them now I know I need one . I started w a 13 t brushed crawl sport then expert then REVOLVER 💥💣👍JUST GOT TRAILMASTER PRO BRUSHLESS 🤪👏🔥
It'd be great if you can show a rock crawler setup for the Mamba X I bought one from you and I'm having slight troubles I run a 3s lipo and within two minutes of running it goes from 11.4 volts about 9 volts if you could show me how to set that up on a video that be amazing to fix that problem no one else has good videos on it on the Castle link setup
Abit of an old video but il shoot my shot. Just built a truck based on the Element builders kit, Puller pro V2 Stubby and Mamba micro X2. Truck is with everything on 2700grams. It wont hold 100% it will just roll slowly. The esc is set up as Holmes recommends on his video with regards to the drag brake and such. Any tips? Did i maybee gear down to much? Or does that not affect it at all?
Wish I bought more Holmes motors I have Tekin Roc412 1900kv in my VS410 pro with mamba x. How does the puller compare? Should I go with full or stubby on build like this. I kinda wanted revolver but I see you have pullers in stock.
John hall make great crawler products the only thing I have not housed of yours is the servos ..I am starting a new build a TRX 4 Sport my esc of choice is a CC Mamba X the motor will be two HH 21 turn and CC 2850 slate but the last thing I need is a servo . I guess the last part I need is a good servo I do believe I will get a HH 500 ....great products and great support ...thanks to you and your staff ....
John. Was that your new SHV500V3 servo running on the 11.1V battery too? Can you use the Mamba Micro X ESC with this combo? Benefits of going with the smaller ESC? Many thanks.
Man, it would be so awesome if someday you decided to scale your expertise and manufacturing skills into the 1:1 world. I've got a little Chevy Bolt in the family quiver and one old Yota truck that makes me want to go running to EV West with all the money I don't have. Stuffing reclaimed Tesla parts into cars is intriguing but man, I just can't wait for the time to come wherein we can get awesome tuner parts for wrenching on EV retrofits and current EVs. Out here in CA the unregulated ICE fun is over [rightfully so] so I'm really looking forward to the cleaner fun of wrenching EVs. When I look into current EV tech compared to RC's it can scale, at least from what I see.
does the 4274 2100kv start smoother than the R 540-L? I bought a traction hobbies founder 2 1/8 scale crawler and am trying to decide which motor to put in.
Hi, I put a Puller Pro R V2 4100Kv into my Pro-line Pro-MT 2WD and lemme tell you something. This thing is a animal, it is so fun to drive. I've had it almost 2 months now and have been driving it nearly every day. Getting ready to do it's 1st teardown and inspection/lube soon. I've been super impressed so far, no issues. Running it with a Castle Mamba Max Pro SCT on 2S with a 12T pinion (32p). It was shredding my 48p plastic gears i had to mod the tranny to take a Robinson spur for SCX-10. It had a Castle 1410 3800 Kv, it was a nice motor but i like yours WAY better. My bearing in the 1410 blew up after 4 yrs and thrashed the rotor and probly stator too, I'm in Florida....I think Ii might know why now. Still 4 yrs and never really lubed the bearing I guess I should have known better huh?
I have a rc4wd scale aluminum 350 engine and transmission. What motor would be fit in this, while giving me power. I'm wanting to build a rock bouncer around the scale engine.
I really love your videos mrholmes , but it just hurts me looking at your brushless setups as I can’t afford any of them .currently I’ve got you Holmes hobby 540 brushed motor. Works brilliant . I’d like to use your revolver v2.
Dang - I need to build my rigs more quickly... still have a NIB Stubby and a NIB PP-L 4100kv R that have to be installed! Got Crawlmaster Sports in the 540 and 550 sizes, too. Excellent electronics! As always, thanks for the video upload, JRH!
I want to go brushless in my trx4.. what is the best bang for buck for a trail and a little amount of rock crawling and I need it to be fully waterproof
Best motors on the market IMO. I have a newer Trail master BLE pro esc that im having troubles with. I have tried programing it multiple times on multiple different settings. The issue is when I am going down a hill and have my figure on the throttle trying go slow down the hill it just takes off on me like there is no drag brake. then as soon as I let go of the throttle the drag brake locks up like its supposed to. As long as my figure is on the throttle going down hill it free rolls. There is no down hill control just full drag break or no drag. I have multiple Mamba x systems so I am confident on my programing skills and how the systems work. Thank you
I'm just curious you talked about the rubber sealed bearings are there any that are polyurethane which I think might have a higher temperature and last longer than rubber.
Great video. Would love to see a new programming update. And possibly if you could, demonstrate how you do the torque limiting test. Can’t seem to get mine to slow me to adjust torque limit
John..... I cannot WAIT until I can get one or two of those Puller Pros!! Of course I'd need an appropriate ESC... But that's one big expense that I can't wait to be able to get!! Thanks John, sincerely! Carmine ✈🚂🚙
@@HolmesHobbies awesome, thank you so much for the reply! much love, i refuse to buy any other motors than holmes now, they are best on market by far. (incoming order! i only wish you had some crawlmaster esc's!)
There is no better withing the 1000 to 3500kv range, but 2700kv 4 pole is the sweet spot of wheelspeed and control. If you don't need that much wheelspeed the 2200 and 1800 is also great choices.
Hey john so I have the the puller pro v1 stubby 3300kv I was just wondering what gearing you recommend for the motor, it is in a trx4 sport with a momba x
@@HolmesHobbies would you ever be interested in donating one of these puller motors to someone in a wheelchair I would love to have one for my trx4 but I can't afford it because of my small disability check and my kids and bill take it all I barely have enough to keep my trx4 running im glad it dont break easly lol and when it does the good upgrade parts are that bad
@@CarminesRCTipsandTricks I have seen the people reversing the timing of mototrs before but I have not done it myself yet, thats how I found HolmesHobbles in the first place looking for such a motor
