Gotta love the sound of a Mopar gear reduction starter. Brings back memories of my parents 1962 Chrysler Newport. It is a sound that stays with you forever.
Me 2! I wish this one was a bit happier who know once I dig into the car and it gets some more use maybe it’ll crank in its own again! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Nice! Those 225's are pretty much indestructible! I need 2 get back 2 wrenching on this one! It's sat since the vid I pretty much fired it up 2 prove 2 my bro it'd run!
WB 318! Solid lifters, forged crank. Basically a tank. The 2 bolt valve covers give it away. Great engine. I had a '66 Charger that was sitting for years.
Anybody else glad it started but shook their head thinking of all the dirt going down the Carb. A vacuum will save a lot of engine damage. I was excited too but clean it First. Glad to see her run again but this is like being thirsty and having to drink a glass of muddy water....
Honestly I’m not that concerned about the engine in the car it’s very tired and has been through a lot. I know of at least 2 occasions where it had the wrong spark plugs installed in it! I’m surprised at how fast it tried and did fire to life so maybe it’s not as tired as I think, ultimately idk that engine is staying in the car I just wanted to see if it’d fire. Thanks for checking out vid.
@@vayabroder729 yeah I’ve had quite a few Mopars with the old Poly 318’s in them this one has had a pretty rough life but I’m sure will get it going again
I always have to stop and look at any 66 Coronet 440. Your car has the same interior as mine, almost identical aftermarket wood wheel and shot-gun pipes out back, cool. With a 67 front bumper, I guess it gives you an extra set of turn signals, you can’t be too safe.
Nice! That’s awesome, I really like the wheel in mine it’s super dry from sitting all this time I hope with some orange oil or something I can bring it back. It’s 2 bad mines sat like it has the interior was in really good shape at one point. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Yeah the throttle definitely stuck a bit! Honestly not that worried about the old poly 318 in the car it’s been trough a lot and is definitely tired, it’s more then likely not staying in the car. Thanks for checking out the vid!
@@nateg6209 I honestly didn’t expect the car 2 start that quick let alone have the throttle at 3/4 when it did! Now I wanna see if I can make it drive! 😜 thanks for checking out the vid!
I've had a '55 Chevy, '56 Chevy, '49 Ford. '51 Ford, '32 Ford, '30 Ford, '52 Chevy and "63 Pontiac. Every one was a running driving car that I drove to Car Shows. I hate people that let cars sit and rust away. Every car I owned, everything worked as it should. I'm just a shade tree mechanic that loves cars.
the starter sounds good it's just a bad connection at your battery or your starter that is why it sounds the way it does if it was your starter it would not turn the engine over at all
The carb sounds good all it needs is to be taken off and cleaned and lubed there is nothing wrong with that carb and I bet if you run it to get the engine hot and cool it off a few times I bet the rings and valves will loosen up and it won't smoke as bad as it is now but the thing runs good those Polys are great engines and it has a aftermarket intake on it already so that is cool just run the thing and fix the hoses and the water pump and brakes and drive the thing. Don't let it sit forever again it needs to be drivin.
Yeah that’ll be the next goal see if we can make it drive, the cars full of parts I’d been sending up in hopes of doing a roadkill roadtrip one day and it never happened. So hopefully we’ll get it cleaned out and driving soon!
Yes, I bought a 66 Newport in 82 that had been sitting a while, and during the first six months of driving, with a bit of tinkering and tuning it ran better and better.
My friend at work found a 1969 dodge in a barn , it was a convertible with all options, it had 1005 mils on it . The farmer bought for his wife but passed away and.parked it .he sold it my friend got 15000 dollars .after a few years he had it take to Arizona to auction it off . He got 190000 for itdog
Poly 318 and someone put electronic ignition on it because those cars came with conventional ignition not electronic. It's a sweet car looks like the only bad spots are around the wheel well on the quarters and love those mag rims hope you have the other rim that makes a set for that car because those are awesome rims anyway love the 66 Coronet if that was mine it would be running and I'd be driving it already
Yeah the LA series 318 Distributor fits the poly so we put electronic ignition in it way back….. the other slot mag is in the trunk so those will stay in the car I’m sure….. Theres a few rough spots on the body but pretty solid overall. Hopefully we’ll have it driving soon we just have so many projects going at once hard to get to them all! Thanks for checking out the vid
Man I’d like to own a mopar like that. Yeah I know it’s not the most popular model but I’m into the ones that aren’t the most popular, makes them rarer and more desirable for me.Oh! And next time work your throttle linkages with WD40 for a it before you attempt to start her.🤪😉
I’m with you I’ve always liked the oddball Mopars myself less chance of running into another on the street or at a show! And I definitely should’ve shot some WD! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Good to see the 'ol girl fire up again! I remember changing the points on it and thinking this is why we have electronic ignition now! I made a montage of some of the Sanderson Mopars here 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WEZyQyXHleU.html
It’s crazy I didn’t even think about your points comment until now when the Coronet sat taken apart for years the distributor went missing so I threw in a mopar electronic ignition kit in it probably helped it fire quicker after all these years!
@@gerssupporter8675 I mean you can kinda hear me spitting it out so I got it in more then my eyes! Lol guess I should’ve vacuumed/cleaned it up a bit first
I haven't touched it since shortly after this vid! A giant snake slithered inside and I walked away for a bit and went back to the other projects! Thanks for checking it out
Well sir you are very wrong if you go back 2 one of my earlier videos you can watch us rescue it from the field. The license plates expired in 01 and it sat before that and at 1 point it sat for about 10 years with no intake, carb, distributor or even plugs in the engine. And believe you me I’m just as shocked as everyone else at how quickly it came 2 life.
Well if you watched the video there was a 1 gallon gas can sitting on the ground with a line running from it to the fuel pump! So it was not running on 20 year old gas! I was spraying starter fluid down the carb until it actually sucked gas up from the can 2 the carb. No one is more shocked than I that it actually fired up that quickly.
You must not have been paying attention, it was running on an auxillary(boat) tank. After twenty years, the gas in the cars tank was probably as thick as molasses.
