Im excited - Volkswagen are releasing new models including Campervans this year, with order books opening soon.
The VW Transporter T6.1 is no longer going to be produced, so anyone wishing to buy new, has a decision to make.
VW are launching new models, options to suit each buyers needs, all with much improved technology, better hardware, software upgrades and Volkswagen have listened and made changes.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.
Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

One of my cars is a plug in hybrid. Electric charging is a massive issue for me when I’m away from home. So many charging points want you to download an app give them you email address and DOB. Why can’t you just buy electric with your credit card like you do for petrol

Always been a fan of the transporter but kind of liking the new transit custom especially the interior and the MS-RT body kit. The GTX interior is also stunning especially the darker gray with red stitching would look cool on a black van just shame the front end doesn't have the aggressive sporty look of the 6.1 it's a bit to of a family people carrier look for me.

I like the new Custom too and will likewise the new Transporter. I’m sure Leighton Vans will transform them as they do the T6.1 I have to admit, I like the Buzz and the new interior makes it even more tempting. Albeit I’d want a Crafter too 🤣 There are a few styling options available

VW & FORD, well that's the end of my Transporter days. I've had them since the T4 and still have a T5 and a T6. I went last year to buy a new Caddy for my son, looked, and nearly died in disbelief of what the Caddy now looks like...horrible to say the least.

The Caddy is now part of the joint venture with the Ford Transit Connect. There certainly seems to be mixed views on the new ranges, especially the Transporter. Really will be interesting to see what happens

Iv had seven transporters over the years as a work van and have been great,there is no way I'd be paying excess money for what is going to be a ford with a wet belt engine, no way, just a matter if time before the engine goes as it does on the current Ford custom range. Also electric is not a option for a working man's van that needs to transport heavy payloads , I be looking at the Merc or Iveco, Mann range. Its a shame as transporters have been a workhorse

True, but at the same time, the tech is much more advanced and doesn’t go wrong as much as it used to. Albeit it is a problem when it does go wrong.

What about the weight of electric vehicles????? I suspect a lot of people will get stuck on sites. What will site owners say about that? Also I've already encountered sites that don't welcome EV's!

A large amount of mororhomes are 3.5t, some often more. Most are not 4wd, so actually an ID Buzz shouldn’t be a problem in that regard. I’ve not heard ev’s aren’t welcome, only that some don’t allow charging of them

At the moment VW decided to stop the join venture with Ford because it didn't work out like they hoped for! The Amarok and the transporter wil be the least of this join venture!

Sorry, but VW has lost its mind totally by replacing their Transporter van by a van from the competition. If I wanted to buy a Ford, why would I buy it from VW? As a VW the Ford Transit will be most definitely more expensive while the quality will be the same! If I wanted to buy a Ford, I would start at the Ford dealership, not at the VW dealer. If I wanted to buy a VW transporter, I would most definitely want it to be a real VW designed and build one, such as the current T6.1. I have driven several Transporter types (T1, T2, T3, T4 and currently a T5 multivan) but for the replacement of the latter, it seems that I have to divert to one of VW’s competitors 😢

I can't believe VW are going with the Transit and that wet belt engine! Also this electric vehicle is just not taking off as they wanted it to the residuals are terrible and the battery degrading would stop me spending money on one.

Iv had 5 transits for work over the last 15 years and they have all been rubbish, always breaking down , cheaply made , good luck to anyone who buys a vw transit you will need it 🤣

The Transporter has until this point (who knows with the Ford Alliance) shown the cost needs to be considered at purchase and sale. It may cost more to buy, but depreciation is far slower than others. The value is much more than just the purchase price. We could buy a new similar sized van from another brand, but its residual value won’t as good. It’s personal choice and people buy for different reasons.

I don’t think the manufacturers have much choice other than to follow the rules. Not really sure what will happen, although i do think the dates will keep being pushed back.

I was an early EV adopter and bought my EV in 2016. 8 years and only 40k miles later, the battery has degraded by 33% - never again !
