This was a great interview. Russell is right, Air Supply is very underrated. I’ve been listening to Air Supply since the early eighties. My gosh, Russell has such an amazing voice and still sounds awesome!!
Indeed! his golden voice never fade. I still love & admire Russell.started late 70's & early 80's & until now despite his age.a diehard, fanatic etc.hehe! Kaloka 😀
Yes he is absolutely and I love this artist we communicate with them for awhile in the 80’s they have websites he answers fans emails and it’s great! Thanks
Russell & Graham are lovely people !! Thats why they are still around....their songs are classic ..it will last forever...their songs are still being played in the radios FM ..
Air Supply came to Malaysia in the early 80s. They belted out one of their best performance, particularly Rex Goh playing their signature brand of Air Supply's music we're so used to hearing during the 80s.
My wife and I just seen them in Las Vegas last Saturday night. They were in town for two days and sold out both shows. They were Great. The Band was OUTSTANDING TOO!
I adore air supply. Always have, always will. I’ll always come back to air supply as a favorite band and I couldn’t care less for any of the new music!
I am glad they weren't bad boys even tho they aren't perfect but living a clean & honest life & enjoying what they are put on this earth to do has kept them alive & still with us. Did we ever imagine that Graham & Russell would still be here doing concerts in 2021? I know during the Covid lockdown Russell admitted to being bored to death & he was going out of his mind....well, now they are back & Russell still sounds great. I love all their albums, especially "Yours Truly" & "Mumbo Jumbo". Love their Greatest Hits one too released in 1983.
My family watched your concert last 2012 in Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines. It was a great memories for us. My little kids stood near the stage while you were performing. Hope to see you again performing live in our country.
Russell is so right about being them being underrated. I have loved them unconditionally since July 20th, 1981!!! I’m glad and love them even more for having high standards and morals! We need more role models like them. It was so nice to bring my kids as early as 3 years old to show them a class act. Air supply should have won many Grammys and more. They deserve so much acclaim but the entertainment industry sucks. These days there are only few acts that stay popular and ha
And have talent and staying power that Air Supply has!! No matter how popular or “cool” that Air Supply was considered I made sure people that I know how talented they are. I called radio stations even called Air Supply’s manager Barry Siegel refusing to accept that Air Supply not be praised. I actually called WPLJ when they had Graham and Russell as guests. That was the only time they gave any airplay to them and I called them out on live Radio! So glad Air Supply never gave up and showed what longevity is!! Love and respect you Air Supply!!
What a great, down-to-earth person. It's nice to know that someone you thought was a true-blue, unpretentious person is indeed a true-blue, unpretentious, all around nice guy!
*Excellent interview! It’s amazing hearing Russell talk about the band. “YOU ARE ON MY DIME!” Really sets the tone in the band! Excellent PROFESSIONALISM!*
I first started really listening to music in the late 1950s. Therefore, AIR SUPPLY came along a bit after that. Russell, you have an amazing voice. Especially from the early years your voice transfixes me but as some people have commented, the singing voice changes with age. Your voice still transfixes me even though it has changed in some ways. I was wondering two things. Have you ever taken voice lessons? And the other thing I’ve been curious about is this… I’ve heard you mention certain singers that you really love and you’ve mentioned Tony Bennett for example, and others of his generation. However, I’ve never heard you mention Johnny Mathis. Is there any special reason for that or do you just not care for his voice? I’m putting these questions in your exclusive interview because I think perhaps my comments will get to you and I’ll be able to find the answers to my questions. I love you, and I can’t stop listening to AIR SUPPLY in my 74th year. Thanks, Shari Sent from my iPhone
Thank You for share this video clip, One Greatest music artist. Listen since 1980s and some old classic of 1970s albums. One greatest interview. Hope keep in touch. More enjoy listen to Air Supply songs when sick or in see car accident on person on freeway never forget it back 2006 . Was nightmare but glad got see concert back then. Air Supply songs always relax me why songs listen my high school days 1980s though years. Songs my DJ use play in Mason city Iowa , those more songs and music . Graham was great song writer and Russell was singer. My favorite was The One You Love 1981 , Here I am. This heart Belongs to me, The heart of The Rose. May father sister love Rod Stewart back 1970s Nice look back all Classic hits songs of Air Supply. All time talk to my old DJ play lot air Supply on radio. Those were gold days 46 years ago great memories Lane. Thank You.
The interview is being good enough. Giving details about the arrangement, the different phases of their career, and some of the persons that were part of their band. It puts me somewhat sad how his voice sounds. Looks as if it was seriously harmed at some point over the later years. Like too husky, raspy, as if he suffers from the lungs or has any respiratory issue. I know the voice ages too, but this doesn't seem normal that a voice sounds like that just because of age. Anyway, it's amazing that after so many years, Russell can still sing, and he and Graham still have such an energy, good vibes and the real desire of performing what they love to do. Great wishes for Air Supply, and a long life for all of them!💖
Amazing interview. Russell is incredible and always such a decent person. Another vote for Late Again. This is the song I would play for friends "You don't understand -- they are a ROCK band". I used to call radio stations in the 80's to play the 'B' side of Making Love out of Nothing All. Should have been a Top 10.
I don't like seeing Russell like this, I mean being old. I want the 80's Russell so I'll get to hear more of Russell for years to come. Even if it's the same songs over and over, if Russell sings it then I'm all in.
Ive been in love with Russell since i saw him at Astroworld in Houston Texas, wish i could have met him personally, maybe we could of fell in love and got married and we could be still married right now growing old together holding hands for eternity
Oh yes very few performers have women just SWOON over them like Russell back in the day. It’s so fun to watch in those 80’s concerts. I mean it’s like Elvis stuff ya know.
