Interesting that he said Bruce never hit him during the fight scenes and pretty much treated the stuntmen very well. Much different than what QT says. All first hand accounts have the interviewee saying that Bruce treated the stuntmen well.

I just re-watched this without any interruption. I have to say...this was one of the Best bruce lee uploads ever! Even though he was an extra...we got a lot of info on the casting and rehearsal that No One would know unless you were there! This was great to see!

On his weekly podcast last October, John mentioned he needed help moving some large pieces of furniture. Since I was experienced, I offered to help. I drove some gear from VT to NYC area and got the job done. I wound up staying overnight and he gave me a signed copy of his book, We Are Doomed. It was a great experience and he's indeed a real gentlemen, and very interesting to talk to.

Love these interviews-and because I watched Way of the Dragon I remember almost all the henchmen by face-from the Wolfman Jack guy, to the Chinese. spare rib guy, and of course John’s character where Bruce throws darts at his hand to prevent him from picking up the firearms-glad I found your channel!

I smashed the like button for this one. However just one small request Charles, can you let your important guess finish talking before interrupting them when they're in mid flow. I know you're probably just as excited as we all are and you interrupt them because of your enthusiasm to ask questions but I can't help to feel I've missed out on something when they don't finish what they started, who knows, they might just ramble on and tell us something even more interesting. Other than that, everything else was just fabulous 👍

Amazing, this is really special.. To have any star that was in a Bruce Lee film with Bruce ! John can give infor or perspectives that any history book doesn't have. Anyone that was in Bruce's presence now at this point is just amazing and go further to be in one of Bruce's greatest films. Bruce's physical condition was at his peak and muscle mass still lean before he started losing it on Enter The Dragon.

I have always hoped someone will interview laypersons, ordinary folks, unknown peoples who came across Bruce Lee and what you do Charles, is kind of closest to that. Although I certainly appreciate them, but I feel there is mostly celebrities, other well known people talking about Bruce Lee but any person alive who definitely met Bruce Lee in any capacity is most worthy of being interviewed and personally at this time, kind of prefer this over yet another celebrity talking about Bruce Lee (not that I don't appreciate any info about Bruce Lee especially If authentic and true) Thanks again Sir! Awesome episode Charles!! My question would've been does know if any of the other extras are around or did they keep in touch with each other afterwards!! That's great!!

Well yet again that did not disappoint. So interesting to hear what Bruce was like on a personal level. Everyone said he ran a very relaxed set as can be seen in the Game of Death photos and clips as well. I particularly liked the advice not to move forward will he was kicking, as well as the motivational speech of pissing in his beer.🍺Special mention to Edgar for his superb lobby card design. Final mention on us getting everything late. Kung Fu didn't come out here in the UK until 1974 and also Peter said he watched Longstreet. But only the pilot episode without Bruce and with another actor playing Duke was shown in my area. So we really had to catch up. Luckily KFM more than made up for it.😁👍🐉

Bruce was unknown in the UK when he passed away, even The Green Hornet was never shown in the UK before he died.

WAY OF THE DRAGON WAS Filmed in 1972 AND BRUCE LEE HAD A fight in THE ROMAN COLLESIUM with CHUCK NORRIS AND AT THE END OF This movie BRUCE LEE killed CHUCK NORRIS AND SADLY CHUCK NORRIS died FROM kidney CANCER AT THE AGE OF 83 AND HE WAS in A TV SHOW CALLED WALKER TEXAS RANGER REST in PEACE YOU GUYS YOU WERE THE GREATEST Marsial artist AND ACTORS THAT EVER lived 😔

I could see the gleam in Charles eyes,but it must have hurt to hear JD's reply that he had no momento or collectible. Lot ot tid bits.Add to the flavor. My favorite Bruce Lee movie is Way of the Dragon AKA Return of the Dragon. I always liked John's reaction to the dart going through his hand and his reaction when Bruce kicked him over the chair! I always wondered about Bruce Lee's battle cries, because as was mentioned in the interview, movies were dubbed in Hong Kong back in those days. It was great to finally find out that the battle cries were really his! This was a really awesome episode!

Nice interview 👍 Charles the karate instructor 李錦坤 Larry Lee Gam-Kwan who is also in the black and white footage wearing a black suit has film of Bruce’s demonstration. Not sure why he hasn’t released this to the public. He runs a karate school in Hong Kong. He also starred in many Kung Fu films from back in the day. Quick note: Sammo Hung was working with Larry on the film “Mandarine Magician” when he got the call from Bruce to film the intro fight scene from Enter the Dragon.

John Derbyshire was right. Bruce Lee's passing was not that big of a story. He died before the release of Enter the Dragon and Return of the Dragon wouldn't be released for another year. So only a small group of people, market wise, saw his first two films in the U.S. He was barely known here. I found out about his passing in a small newspaper article that mentioned his death. I don't think it even made TV news at all.

Man this was a great interview. He looks in great health. What an amazing privilege to star in one Bruce's movies.

That isn't Bruce's real voice in Enter The Dragon - the audio was damaged or affected in some way. If I remember correctly he's dubbed by John Little. You can hear his real voice in The Green Hornet etc.

Amazing that many extras on the set had one way or the other, felt a strong presence of Bruce in meeting or sharing ideas on the set of WOTD. More recently more news have come out that Bruce died from multi organ failure. What a shame. I always thought bruce definitely had underlying health issues, and more recently he had kidney problems.

This is going to be great from someone who actually was directed by Bruce. One thing that always struck me was, (and no offence intended to John) apart from the big guy in the red vest, none of the Bosses thugs looked particularly menacing. Perhaps because there were not may gwalios in Hong Kong to hire at that time. Still will be interesting to hear his stories.👍

I wonder what happened to the rest of the thugs? This guy's scene appeared in the movie trailer too. It was funny during the scene where the black guy said , "I want some chinese spare ribs". When they dubbed that, they didn't have that actor present to do it. So Bruce dubbed the voice. Hilarious.
