Chris Payne thank you for the video. I ended up picking one up and have taken it out twice this week. I’m 6’3 270lbs and this yak is extremely stable and I was able to stand and fish easily. At some point I will put on a trolling motor but I had no problem paddling around. It is very heavy to transport but well worth it once on the water.
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Who ever is working that camera needs a big blue ribbon. Holy crap finally someone who knows how to operate the camera. Very great video. Very great camera work. I can hear you nicely. Perfect video guys. Excellent explanations. I just can't say enough good. Oh and thank you for NO annoying music. GREAT JOB GUYS. THANK YOU..
If considering this purchase just remember you make a lot of the consessions of a jon boat. In many states you will have to title and register because of the motor. It's heavier than some Jon boats. And no availability of adding a 9.9 outboard later to really get where you're going. Seems most useful for people that are fishing kayak tourneys want closest thing to a big boat they can get without disqualifying themselves. Definitely affordable compared to similar yak designs
Hey thanks for posting a review! I just got this kayak (it's my first fishing yak)! I had a quick question about adding a fish finder - there is a black plate underneath in the front of the yak. It's right under the bow scupper hole. Is this for mounting a transducer? Sorry I'm very new to this!
These are made in my home town... I own the 9R sport and 10T I got straight from the factory floor (reviewed on my channel). I wish Tracker Plastics would let me review this one (Hint hint) ha-ha. Great vid !!
Hi Chris did you end up getting a trailer for you yak. Im seriously thinking about getting this one as a package deal from bass pro it comes with trolling motor, fish finder, battery, and a couple other items. Just wondering how were you getting it to & from fishing locations
I want to know if anyone has had issues with a bow mount motor causing the transducer to not read correctly or get static from it. I had a kayak that the pedal drive had to be still to get rid of the static.
What battery do you use for the trolling motor? I ordered a 55lb thrust powerdrive w/ipilot and us2 and I want the lightest weight battery possible to run it several hours on a fishing trip
The cons out way the pros for this yak. When all said and this rig could end up costing close to 2000$. The weight and size for transporting is a big deal as well. There’s kayaks out there with peddle drives and plenty stability that weigh under 80lbs... easy to lift and fit in the back of a bed so you don’t need racks or trailer accessories that will cost you more $. I don’t know man, my first kayak was an ascend but this one looks difficult to get and move on the water. Cool walkthrough video tho. Congrats on the new yak.
I looked at this and decided to build a mount for my WS ride 135 it is 75# and the Xis motor guide gets 4-5 mph and has pinpoint lock. Not sure I need more motor than that.
Have you put an anchor trolley system on it yet? I have the same model kayak. Im trying to decide if i should mount it on the outer edge or drop down under the outer edge and put it on the v shaped portion of the hull.
Hey Chris I bought this yak too. I'm a newbie and I bought a stern trolling motor on it, but I don't know what kind of mount or bracket to buy because I'm not a good DIY. What trolling motor bracket can I use on the stern of the boat?
did you see how much the trolling motor mount flexed lol he thought it wasnt locked in and kept messin with it but it was just the whole mount and part of the kayak wobblin'! yikes! 😬
Hey, I’m getting this kayak very soon. Had some questions about accessories. What trolling motor do you have? What are the ropes for that come with the kayak?
Chris Payne Nice, I’m getting the kayak Thursday hopefully. I’m an employee at Bass Pro, really excited to use it. How’s standing? I was curious on how much you could move in it, say in the example that I got a motor that was handle operated.
My brother gave his asend kayak 12 away yesterday. It had a crack on the top by the seat. Anyways the asend is a great product, I just hope that they have support under that seat area to support 200lbs to 240lbs people.
hey great videos...gotta ask if you had any problems with the seat,,,mine seem it was cut short and slips out of the flang or groove ,,the end caps pop off and it fallsw down ...and i believe the yaks sidewall are too weak right where the seat meets yak,,,you can bend it easily by hand, even weaker wen hot like in the sun...i think this is a major design flaw that your viewers and ascend costumers should know...whats your thoughts.thanks
Chris I looked at this again at BPS last night looking at buying today. Did you have an issue with the bottom seat brackets being to short for the slots. It seems the one they have the brackets are about a 1/4 inch short on both sides. One side keeps popping out.
@chrispayne Thank you so much for the vid!!! I am leaning towards this how is the stability when standing and I see you have the same truck as me how do you go about transporting?
I just bought this boat few days ago and I’m a little unclear on how the power works. Does the battery behind the seat power the whole boat or just the trolling motor? Do I need a separate battery for the Yak power? I do not have a battery yet so I have not been able to experiment. Thanks for any help.
Sure, really depends on your budget. I like the Terrova because of the spot lock feature. Any minn Kota at 30lb thrust plus will be able to move the boat.
Bass Pro Shop has none of these ascend 133 X kayaks in stock! The online store says " not available ". However Ascend kayak`s say they are being manufactured?
Have you taken it out on the water? I didn't hear if you had... How well does it maneuver and glide over the water? Thanks! I was looking at one today .
Actually this kayak surprised me. It rained a lot prior to going out so we were able to get in really tight spot. It handles as good as you can move your paddle. Just don't paddle long distances. You'll wake up the next morning thinking about modifications to your travel preferences while on the water
I'm thinking of buying one and appreciate some help deciding. Can someone tell me the height of the boat? I'm 330lbs, Will the deck under the seat support me? I'm currently paddling a 95lb. 13 foot Wasatch and fine with it. Will the 133x be a big difference to paddle? Thanks for the help!
You should really add a kill switch on that motor in case you fall out while under power. Other than that..... Nice setup. Glad to see Ascend staying relevant.
@@ChrisPayneReviews I like the ease of use a pedal drive gives and the simplicity of it , i'm never in a hurry...lol Kick back and relax...lol It's also good exercise as i have lost weight , adds health to your life as your fishing..lol I def like the lay out of this yak , if it had pedals i'd be in one.
Good news it's only going to hang out of that short bed truck about 5 feet😂🤣... Okay seriously a guys going to haul it how??? Small trailer?? Love the concept looked at 1 today at Cabela's but loaded up it's going to be heavy...200 plus pds
Very stable. Im 6'0 255lbs. I can stand up comfortable. Paddling is a true bit@h if going anywhere besides close to the boat ramp. Trust me, trolling motor the way to go with this tank
Art Cruz I totally agree with you. Most people don’t want to deal with a trolling motor. The cost of batteries and annual registration is something to keep in mind. The idea of jerry rigging a pedal drive would be crazy too. Just the pedal drive unit is close to a grand, and you’d need to cut into the hull to fit it. I will say that Ascend is giving the consumer a lot of features for the price. I have an FS128T and they come a long way since releasing that model.
Chris, you refer this as the 133x tournament kayak. On the basspro website they list a 133x recreational kayak. Is there another model that they don’t have on the website yet or the same thing ?
So the capacity of the boat itself is 550lbs. Realistically, how much will the seat support. I want a fishing kayak so bad... But they just aren't made for guys like me... I'm roughly 330lbs... It's not something I'm happy about, it's just where I am. I don't need the seat failing on me first time on the water..
Richard Burnett I’m 270 and the seat is pretty solid. The only thing I feel may be an issue are the straps that control the recline if you push back against the seat
I am 310, 6'4", which eliminates many kayaks for me. I found a used Wilderness Systems Ride 135, which is also rated for 550 lbs. It floats me with the water level below the top of the scuppers. A usedRide might be a good first one for you. I really like the look of the 133x.
Chris Payne okay so if I do that how would you set it up all I want is a 12 volt trolling motor and fish finder how would you rig it wire and battery wise
It looks great! But a few years ago I bought the fs10t look like an awesome stable boat it was in green. Took it out, felt a little wobbly compared to my other kayaks. Went to reach for a ride behind the seat and over it went! Lost about $500 worth of stuff in 30 feet of water. But pro Bass did refund my money without an issue! But I still lost the $500 worth of stuff! So I'm not sure if I would personally by another ascend? I have been on 128T and it seemed stable! But still got a bad taste in my mouth! I own 5 kayaks now. And although this look sweet just not sure?
Comes with bow mount plate. I put minn kota powerdrive on mine. ¼x¾ bolts to tighten down to mount. Bolts sent with powerdrive motor will not fit this mounting plate unless you want to drill
