The commitment and drive of these early actors kept Dr Who alive and well and built a strong base which allowed the BBC with Tom Baker to launch it across the world like an entertainment hurricane that still blows strong today! Vale William Harnell ,Patrick Trough ton and Jon Pertwee.. People talk about Star Trek in hushed reverent tones well Doctor Whio belongs in the same league without a doubt!

'The Three Doctors' is a great story from the Jon Pertwee era. Troughton is brilliant, Pertwee is excellent and Hartnell is wonderful in the cameo scenes. Great story, Great Doctors!

Funny how the Doctor from the mid 60s, Patrick Troughton, had a Beatle haircut :D

I would actually say that Patrick's look for the Doctor reminded me more of Moe from the Three Stooges who started in the 1920's.😜

@@wiseguymaybe I remember some of the Three Stooges stuff they did on television in the 1960s in which they used to make fun of Moe having a Beatle haircut. On one episode of MST3K, the bots were geeking out on Doctor Who when one of them mentioned 'the Doctor who looked like Moe.'
@wiseguymaybe
@wiseguymaybe 3 года назад
@@RubesGoodBrainCoffee Now that's funny. Just the same you might say Moe started it and what I understand from George Harrison's sister, who I met once, she said that style was common for young people in England at the time, before the Beatles made it a fad.

If they 50t anniversary episode turns out to be a Multi-Doctor story, I really hope Eccleston does decide to return, because I just know that Nine and Eleven would have a very Two-Three relationship.

I thought the opposite. From 1978 the series became softer. As much as I like Tom Baker it was during his tenure that my interest started to wane and continued into Peter Davison and wasn't a regular viewer from then on. They had a great producer Philip Hinchcliffe from 1975 to 1977 whose ideas and approach I enjoyed a great deal. I don't watch the new versions. But the original series ratings were almost halved from 1980 onwards until it's cancellation in 1988.

I remember directing a play and telling the actors that they didn't have say the lines exactly as written. I soon realized my mistake when they complained that they were waiting for certain lines as cues for them to speak. I then told them to say the lines as written and they understood why.

Funny how Troughton and Pertwee seemed to mirror the personalities of their respective Doctors. Troughton the improvisor, winging it, and Pertwee the planner, frustrated by such clownish behaviour.

As good as it is early Doctor Who seems to be more childish where as the later Tom Baker to Colin Baker and Mcgann to Smith (not counting Mccoy's era because to me that was quite childish) seems more adult. Am i right?
