Jonny and Tony from Gamify come into the Tank and make a splash. Their gamification business makes branded, personalized video games for companies and they’re here asking us for 200k for 10% of their business. With some big names under their belt including KFC and Air New Zealand, they have created a software system that allows them to quickly make video games that can easily interact with customers. Gamification is pretty big right now in the marketing realms - will the Sharks agree?
Company Website: www.gamify.com/
An international sensation, Shark Tank AUS features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Tank from our Sharks, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

@@OOXHattoriHanzoXOO I certainly would, the other fella is just a money man, the only thing he brings to the table is money and the connections he can/has purchased with it. The business world is full to bursting with these got-rich-quick/trust fund VC’s who think that having millions of dollars means you’re worth millions of dollars-in reality folks get lucky all the time, getting a pile of cash is no verification of a person’s business acumen. Tony built something, johnny just has the money. That’s an important part of business, to be sure, but it certainly does not qualify their business savvy. Quite the opposite, actually, as usually the money people are quite out of touch with consumer desires-they probably couldn’t tell you what a gallon of milk costs

I think Jonny tried to slide Tony under the bus with that 20%. "Subject to due diligence that it's vetted it would get to $50 Million" you could get a lot better than 20%. Hurts Jonny too but at this point the whole company has to be sold for Tony to make anything significant.

In effect they would both have needed to agree for it to work (31.5% plus 20% = 51.5%, which is enough to pass an Ordinary Resolution to issue fresh shares to Janine - assuming that an OR is the correct mechanism for that - without having to rely on other existing shareholders’ support).

As a game developer & designer this hurts. The games are unoriginal and very badly polished. I can make a game like that in a couple of days. What software is that supposed to be? 1/4 of the development time? How can it beat something like Unity? Is it only tailored towards that same style of games? Calling bullshit here.

@Kugelschrei
@Kugelschrei 5 лет назад
@@movierecap997 If it just means to copy this boring game, the base game is done in 10 hours. UI takes another 5 hours. Polishing the game, aka "juicing" it, will take another 5 hours. If the assets need to me made, that is another 10-15 hours - but for a game that should be produced that quickly you could just take an asset pack for a couple of bucks. That comes down to a total of 20-30 hours. At a modest freelancing rate of 30€/h, you will get that game for around 800 bucks. Making variations of that game now only means to swap some assets, which means for another 100 bucks you get a similar looking game ontop. If the game should play differently, then some game design is needed, creating concepts, prototyping them, iterating over them etc will take more time.

Talking about having a software that allows them to ship games like this 4 times faster is complete BS out of their ass. There are third party engines that are very high end and developed, like Unity, Unreal Engine, Crytek etc, and even fully open source ones like Godot. Industry is already at limits of the efficiency and most of the tools are available to any company the moment they are developed, because standards move so fast that tools developers need to instantly push it on the market, because if they dont, it becomes outdated in matter of months. So yeah, as a programmer, their claims about being 4 times faster because of THEIR OWN software are very fishy. If it was true, they would not be selling games. They would be selling game making software that competes with giants like Unity, lol. Considering that they arent, it means that this statement was pulled out of their ass.

That guy, good on him for not doing it, he believes in his product and he will make that money even though I think it be extremely hard to see them making that much money so quickly on the games they are making. I know people are bashing the shark lady but in all honesty she was polite and nice about it and in all honesty going into this sort of business is very difficulty, there are companies that would make ocean of money and go bust. Just look at Midway who were the original developers for Mortal Kombat. Despite the huge success the whole company still went bust. She is taking a big risk and it is her money and at the end of the day in business, if you can, you don't always look for fair especially with strangers. You would look for the best deal, period, she was admitted not knowing the stuff in this business, heard the money and took her chance to try and get a big slice of it. No one is forcing them to accept it and if this is the offer she wanted to make then it's fair enough and she was open to negotiate, it's stil better than being shot down not having an offer because an option is still an option. The other guy was a bit too desperate and ega. I hope they be ok after this because the other guy might be losing trust for obvious reason in terms of the sales guy's opinions because he clearly wasn't ok with it. I actually thought the Shark was ok because if she was truly brutal she wouldn't even mention him being uncomfortable, she could of just kept talking a bit more to get the other guy to buy more and more into it to try and sway the other guy but didn't. Though I'm certain she has her doubts about the business for obvious reasons too, gaming business makes loads but even then can still go bust. The chap well done to him though, followed his passion and he is now in success. Lets hope he can prove that the shark's made a bad choice not investing in him for the 10%.

I'm sure you can, that's why you're clearly making thousands of dollars a week selling games right?
@bellmeisterful

Id like to invest $25,000 for 51% of our new video game company. You get 49% and all you have to do is turn out a game a week.

@@Mortal209 Most game developers are not in this field just to make as much money as possible. We are creators that want to work on exciting projects. I'm not going to brag in a RU-vid comment section about how much money I make, but I'm doing alright. There are developers that are way more proficient in programming than me that can make games like these in a day.

A week? Did we see the same game? It's literally just a tapping/swiping game. It's only the art work that will take a while(there's very little tho and it's quite simple as it's just a static image, a UI, and a character) the game itself can be done quite fast.

I have to hand it to Shark Tank AUS. Theyre doing as good as they can. I do like the Steve dude on the end. Although they dont seem to ask many of the important questions we hear on American Shark Tank like cost of customer acquisition, any debt the company may have, plans on how theyre going to build the company, distribution, they ask cost of product and retail price but weirdly never ask how much they sell it to the reseller for or wholesale price.

Tbf in both American and Australian, each pitch takes hours of discussion. And they both ask all important questions. The entire show is made in editing room. All you are seeing is what editor thinks you will like.

Playable ads, I believe really kills the premium feel of a brand, and playable ads are really annoying. All the games they produce are just cloned gameplays of already famous games, the actual gamification is missing here, gamification is not just about putting company logos and colors schemes to a popular gameplay. #sharktank

He probably ripped the code and reskinned from the original floppy bird. It was an indie game designed and programmed by a single dev., who didn't like the spotlight. (So i seriously doubt that was the guy)After flappy bird went big, he literally took his game down from the store because he didn't want to deal with media attention and fans, even with all the profit he was raking in.
