Absolutely true. Making poor people vote for you just because you can use a plate to blackmail or guilt-trip them is a systemic or generational evil that needs to be broken in South Africa. Lack of accountability and glorification of crime are one of the root-causes of the misery we are in today and it takes more than one approach to change that. Vusi is extremely smart and evolving I might add. His counsel would fly past the minds of many a politician to a point that it would seem he wasn't even speaking to them. I may also add that for Africa- not SA per se- leaders need what should be termed Political apprenticeship. That should have minimum requirements for entry because the individuals we see at this stage were inspired by different generations and people with & without appropriate guidance when growing up. As he said some "... do not know what they don't know" and thus the confusion each time self-correction has to be implemented. The country and its people are not a lost cause but the stewards are surely hopping on the Gautrain to Madagascar. The tickets certainly say that but logic doesn't prevail... I wish to meet Vusi

I love listening to you Vusi. You have displayed a wealth of knowledge and you are experienced in the field where you are. The ANC was a party of choice to many. To date it has reached its sell by date. If is self destructive and it chase good and knowledgeable cadres from the party. It failed to amend Section 25 of the Constitution while they had a majority in parliament. 29 years into our democracy, there are Provinces who cannot access clean drinking water, with mud schools , no flashing toilets? The ANC has become so arrogant because they know that half of the population depend on social grant. The ANC has destroyed the best infrastructure that was built by the apartheid regime. Let them show us what have they built. I know that they have created a black middle class citizens, black farm owners who sell an ankola cow for R1million. The University's are producing graduates 🎓 to join the unemployment rate in our country. The ANC sold us a dream that was never realized. The South African parliament is full of old men and women who have ran out of political ideas. They must go !!!

I agree with Vusi. I think one of the reasons we do not have proper leadership is because of our ancient electoral system. In particular our gangster / mafia style political party system. In my view no political party member - or anyone affiliated to any political party in any way - should be allowed into public office. Populism should be replaced by quality. Cabinet ministers should be elected by members of the particular fraternity, based on qualifications and experience. Parliament should consist of representatives geographically elected. No political parties involved. Local government should be local. The President should be elected by the entire population. Reply

Yep, I agree, I remember when Mandela was released from prison I said to my Dad that the National Party has just been swallowed by the ANC, he was very upset, his words were something like this, "The people of the country are not stupid, eventually they will vote NP" and I said, That will be the day when the last old people who lived under the NP and the ANC are all dead, only then will the country reform and not a day earlier. I was semi violently removed from his house and left out in the cold, BUT I am standing by it. The OLD people feel they got a debt to pay towards the ANC and they feel pressured to vote for them, My guess is that we got another 10 years under the ANC, but for now we must keep the country going and not let it fall apart or go bankrupt before the new generation gets a chance to rectify the mistakes of not only the NP but also the ANC.
