Africa has embraced colonial masters way of life,yet reluctant to make the bold change certain cultures in Africa, which are incompatible with the colonial masters way of life,we have embraced. Ghana,for example,can not develop as long as overwhelming majority of eligible workforce continue to languish in the rural areas,merely surviving as peasant farmers,poor and incapable of paying income and other taxes for national development. Solution,ghana government must facilitate large commercial farmers in the rural areas with a mission to create jobs and produce food for domestic and international markets. The large commercial farmers,initially be granted with legal monopolies and in return be required to pay income taxes for their employees, which would be used to help pay for infrastructures development in the country. In the United States of America,companies granted with legal monopolies have their books monitored by the government and cannot raise prices without government approval. Furthermore the numerous petty traders scattered around ghana streets must be consolidated into large departmental and supermarket store chains.

Africa’s underdevelopment is not the result of neocolonialism but rather official corruption and very bad governance, which started from Nkrumah’s regime and lack of capacity to extract and add value to our natural resources in Africa,if now fragmented Africa becomes a single entity in future and the underlying problems especially bad governance now inhibiting economic growth in individual Africa countries persist the continent would still be an empty giant. So the focus clearly must be on good governance in individual Africa countries now before long lasting africa union can be realistic,if we don’t to continue the evolution of OAU to AU.
