Small battery pack though at that price, short driving range&slow for a 2025 model year ev charging speeds due to 400v charging. Basically a city car in basic trim. Not much better than a 2023 chevbolt euv was. Bet like the much ballyhooed ex30 the decent spec loaded awd ones will all be in the 40-45k price range. Esp outside of Korea. I also bet the real world driving ranges aren't as good as Kia claims either. But more affordable ev options are needed so good luck Kia! 🤔

Best review so far. As for colors, the Kia website shows 3 colors: sea foam green-almost white, rust orange and grayish blue. if you want that rental vehicle look, the non-colors are hearse black, battleship gray, and 3 shades of refrigerator white.

A GT variant will likely have it according to reports. The also made mention that the US version (made in US or most likely Monterra Mexico) will have different equipment or trims compared to the ones from Korean and elsewhere. Also that fact that it will be made locally the prices will be amazing.

Really nice job from Kia and this car could be a game changer here in North America if cleverly priced. Just hope Kia will offer vibrant pallets of colors for interior and exterior. Great video.

Apart from the actual road test. I do hope they got the memo to tone down the stupid safety tech! Like false readings on the speed limit and driver's attention, both are very annoying on newer cars!

Well, EV9 surely is equipped with OTA, not sure if Kia will make that as an update though.

Thank you so much! Your insights are very helpful! I currently drive a 2021 e-Niro but the lease runs out at the end of this year, and I am contemplating what car to get next. The EV3 and the EV4 are currently my favourites (the EV4 even more than the EV3).

Great review as always! You mentioned that the side profile is unique (I forget your exact language) - I think it looks very much like the Kia Soul EV's side profile. Which is a great thing as IMHO that's one of the best smaller EV's out there. I'm very excited and hope we see the EV3 in the US.

The color isn't available. I do also find some blogs mentioning the color, but it's not on the final catalogue of EV3, at least from Korea.

I tried, but I couldn't open anything up because it wasn't activated (signed in). I sure do want to try it out on a test drive, hopefully it will also be updated via OTA for EV9 as well.

Super nice reviuw. With that prisetag, this EV will be a slam dunk. It has everything and even more. The Hyundai/KIA/Genesis cars (not only the EVs) keeps pulling ahead of the competition. Impressive development in just some few years, what will come next?? By a margin the leading car manufacture today

for the range it is wonder since i can do 512 km with my 2021 Soul EV limited 200 hp and 64.8 kw/h batt that what the algorimt tell me about my city driving in summer!

Shame that they brought in all the good parts of the rest of their cars EXCEPT for the 800V architecture. Was hooked until I heard that. Probably not necessary to have charging that fast on the smaller battery, but if they follow what all the other manufacturers do then they'll probably only bring the big battery version to the states

When this car was announced it was said it would have V2X but now I hear nothing about it anymore and I also don't see it on their (Dutch) website. I was so looking forward to that feature.

Thanks for the comment. First of all, the battery used on the car is NCM and the EV3 uses the E-GMP chassis, which is used on other modern EVs of HMG, such as EV6, EV9 and IONIQ 5.

There is no comparing to that of the EV6 it is much smaller than EV6 but I will come up with a precise measurement using the tape measure once again. I didn’t necessarily go over the trunk because it was already all over revealed by Kia.

The big question do you think Kia/Hyundai will discontinue the Niro & Kona brands once they have the EV5 & equivalent Hyundai as the EV5 is about the same size as the Niro EV. That charging port could be challenging at Tesla v3 Superchargers with the cable length unlike the Niro/Kona. Is this a US spec as it has a J1772 plug but do like what they have done with the plug and removed the 'butt-plugs' as Bjorn has called them. Does it have the same headrests as the EV9 which are super comfy. The open storage never a fan of would be good to some closed storage besides the glove compartment. I wonder if the charging pad is any better than the Kona EV has which is pitiful for charge speed soooo slow to charge, I use a cable instead. Love the physical buttons and not over the top just enough for the essentials so will keep it's EuroNCAP rating unlike those with touchscreen only which could lose a star. Feel bad for you, that guy seemed to keep following you around every time you moved to a different car he suddenly appeared in the drivers seat checking things out, will be good when you get it on a test drive for yourself. That infotainment system is the new CNCC system isn't it? Same as what the new Kona EV has(same system I have on my 2024 Kona EV).

It’s uncertain if Kia/Hyundai will discontinue the Niro and Kona with the introduction of the EV5, given their similar sizes, but you've got a point.

You mention using a 350kw charger but surely it doesn’t charge at that speed. One of the most important things about an EV and you don’t mention the actual charging rate…??

Where are the switches for the Rear heated seats? Shouldn’t be on the vertical strip applied to the rear doors? Like they are in the front? I don’t believe they are not offered on the GT line….

It all looks fine, but have they updated the things that really matter. In my Niro EV (my2024) the assistance systems are far from the Europeans. The sign/speed limit recognition is a joke. I don't know if it works better in other countries, but in DK it's awful. Does it slow down going into a roundabout or sharp turn? Also, the route and charging planer are way behind the best in class. So I'm looking forward to an honest review by someone who has actually driven the car for a week or two 🙂 oh and the headlights in all Kia's I have owned (4 factory new) and tried are also way behind the Europeans. In the dark north on a rainy night, the output and distribution are simply too weak - even in the EV 9. I love Kia but I don't care about games or coffeeshops, I want the DRIVING systems to rock 😊

Just went to the showroom to see the Santa Fe. I don’t hate it. Still a bit plasticky but it’s not bad. Don’t hate the land rover boxiness and the boot opening is okay too. Don’t feel like it’s a lot bigger than the older Santa Fe. Only car missing in the showroom is Ioniq 6.

I don't like the look of the Kona. This EV3 looks so much better to me. Very good space with a length of only 4.30m. I saw the EV9 in person. It almost scared me... I hope the AWD will not impact the boot space.

There seems to be polarization in how people prefer the looks of equivalent Hyundais or Kias. A lot of people liked the look of the Ioniq 5, but I think the EV6 looks way better, so I got that.

After 7 years of driving a BMW i3, I sold it and leased an Ioniq 5. Although the Ioniq 5 is an amazing vehicle, and I’ve been spoiled by driving it, it’s more EV than I need. I miss the size and sportiness of the BMW. The BMW i3 was the perfect size for an around town EV. My lease is up in early 2026. I hope this is available by then.

@@JohnSmith-uz3dt I've had my i3 for 7 years also, and while it's got some serious flaws, there's nothing else quite like it -- my favorite car ever. I don't expect to ever find another EV to fully replace it, but the EV3, Volvo EX30, and Mini Aceman are on my shortlist.

The EV3 was clearly inspired by the i3. From the back quarter window to the rear it's especially obvious. I love my i3, but at 10 years old now, it's starting to have range issues. I'd love to hold out for this to sell in the US, but I'm not sure I can wait that long unfortunately.

@@Carfan678 That was my understanding, but it’s good to have it confirmed. My point was really about my hope that they come out with AWD. I think it will sell well as I don’t think there is much competition for a small AWD, especially with the battery size of the EV 3. I think the Volvo EX 30 will be similar in size, but it probably more expensive and more minimalist and has a smaller battery. What I’d really like is an EV 5 but I know that’s not supposed to come any time soon. It will probably do well either way as it I think buyers will like the boxy shape and styling, as long as the price is appropriate.

@@Molishious From a Germans point of view i agree. AWD (or RWD) is a must have. I´m driving an eSoul64 at the moment and will never buy a FWD BEV again. So if Kia doesn´t offer an AWD/RWD, i will choose EX30, #1 or ZeekrX.

Great video thanks. I'm in the UK and have a dog. What is your view of boot size for a medium size dog. Currently we have a 2019 Kona ev and boot rather small.

Won’t be much different, but the biggest downside will be the tiny rear glass compared to Kona. If you have your doggo sitting on the second row, it tilts a lot, windows go down all the way, quite roomy for the cars segment I’d say.

출시 전 컨셉트카 공개할 때 부터 나올걸 알고는 있었지만 썩 기대되지는 않는 차가 EV3였습니다. 아무래도 EV 라인업 중 최하위 모델인지라 원가절감 같은 이유로 별 매력적인 특징이 없을 것이라 생각했어요. 기존 모닝 페이스 리프트때 “싸보이지 않게 하겠다!”고 했다가 막상 뚜껑 까보니 기존이랑 다를 바 없던 상품성이라서 꽤나 실망했었거든요. 또한 코나 EV가 깡통을 뺀 그나마 탈만한 롱레인지의 시작 가격이 5000만원에 달했기 때문에 비슷한 차급이면서 전기차 전용 플랫폼꺄지 탑재한 EV3는 코나보단 비싸면 더 비싸지, 저렴할 것이라곤 예상하지 못했기에 더더욱이나 기대할만한 모델은 아니였습니다. 그런데 막상 실차가 나오고 보니 이거 선녀구나 싶더군요. “나 저렴한 깡통차에요“ 하며 LED 사용에 인색하거나 디자인 자체가 썩 짜세나는 모습은 아니던 기존 소형차의 틀을 완전히 깨버럈다고 봅니다. 물론 가격도 예상보다 많이 착하게 나왔고요. 아낌없이 전부 LED로 도배한 것도 마음에 들고 외부/내부 디자인 할 것 없이 기존 미니 같은 차들이 가지고 있던 작지만 고급진 차라는 느낌이 들었습니다. GV60과는 좀 다른 느낌의 고급스러움이라고 생각됩니다. 아무래도 전기차 자체의 가격을 낮추는데 한계에 다다른 지금, 대중 브랜드인 현대 기아가 할 수 있는 가장 이상적인 모습의 차가 아닌가 싶습니다. 요즘 미니가 또 이상한 디자인이랑 노답인 상품성(특히 전기 모델), 그리고 지나치게 캐쥬얼해지고 가벼워지는 이 틈에, EV3가 기존 미니가 가지고 있던 소형차에 어울리는 젹당한 캐쥬얼, 그렇지만 고급스러움은 잃지 않은 진정한 ’컴팩트 프리미엄‘의 신흥 강자가 될 수 있을 것이라고 기대합니다. GV60에서 시작해 EV3까지 이어진 현대모터그룹의 ’컴팩트 프리미엄‘ 차량들이 성공적인 상품성을 지닌 만큼, 앞으로 나올 GV50과 EV4가 더욱 기대되네요. + 늘 좋은 영상 제공해 주셔서 정말 감사합니다. 이런 채널이 있다는게 너무나도 행운이네요. 앞으로도 좋은 영상 기대하겠습니다.

계약 축하드려요! 정말 탐나고 갖고 싶은 차량인데, 저는 주거 환경 탓에 전기차 운용이 어려워 매번 아쉽기만 합니다. 그중에서도 EV3는 진짜 정말 탐나더라고요. 영어 스크립트는 제가 직접 전부 검수하고 그걸 자동번역해서 자막을 달고 있기는 한데 정말 많이 좋아졌죠 ㅎㅎ 예전엔 쓰기 민망한 수준이었는데 말이죠. 앞으로 한국음성 기능도 유튜브에서 열어준다면(극소수 유튜브 채널만 현재 베타 테스트 중 ㅠㅠ) AI를 이용해서 한국어 음성으로도 들으실 수 있을 것 같습니다! 따뜻한 댓글 감사드리고 EV3 축하드려요!

At the Kia website they have 3 colors, sea foam green-almost white, rust orange and grayish blue. if you want that rental vehicle look, the non-colors are hearse black, battleship gray, and 3 shades of refrigerator white.

Would you say the second-row legroom is larger (or about the same as) Niro or Kona? It seems obviously smaller than Tucson or Sportage.

I cannot recall those two cars atm, but being able to tuck my feet underneath the driver seat felt like I have a HUGE leg room. You know what I mean if you've been there 😉

Great review but abit over optimistic "fanboy" at some parts, for real when you opened that glovebox i got Fora KA 2010 vibes man it looked cheap, electric windows are baseline you make it sound like it's something exceptional lol, i could go on, in my opinion the car looks super at first glance but i bet when you start driving it you are quickly going to notice some things this is an entry level SUV/CUV so I'm not complaining just think you could be a bit more sceptical, it would give this video more credibility! The car looks nice but it's going in some hard competition with the size and price range, what it comes down to in the end is do you like apples, pears or bananas the most, and how does the assistant system work. Lets not fool our self German cars just have the best closely followed by Ford, Lane assist is not just lane assist and the same goes for the systems. So yes Kia may say they have the same systems in place but I doubt they will feel as refined as they do on Audi, Skoda, VW, Mercedes and BMW, only time will tell.

Love my Ioniq 5 and will probably get EV3 next… but: I dislike iPedal not allowing memory function in US. All EVs I have driven remember the driver settings that were selected. It drives me crazy that my Ioniq 5 doesn’t remember iPedal (I have to engage it every time I start the car) or Snow mode (I live somewhere snowy). It’s stupid because: it remembers Eco or Sport mode and it remembers regen level. iPedal should be considered a regen level (like level 4) and should remain in that setting if I engage it. Also, same for snow mode: if I select it, it should remain in that mode until I change the setting, even after I turn the car off. Big mistake from Kia/Hyundai. Is this going to be fixed?

I believe that is done on purpose by the manufacturer to ensure safety. Some features do always require a manual engagement every time the car is turned on, i-PEDAL is one of them 🥲
