Absolutely one of the first great heavy drummers. Moon, Baker and Bonham get mentioned a lot. Carmine is right there in that mix. The first four albums mentioned were not surprises, nice to see Blue Murder included. Fortunate to see and hear Carmine live with Cactus, BBA and Sir Rod. Excellent rock drumming that had some swing when called for. imoho

People get mad when he talks about him influencing John Bonham. The truth is the triplet lick in good times bad times John told Carmine that lick he was inspired by something he heard Carmine play. He also got John his first ludwig deal. I've seen Carmine play many times and he plays a lot like John or the other way around either way, who cares!! 😅😅😅😂😂😂
@Sprenklefish

It’s not a triplet, it’s only two beats. Carmine talks a lot of shit. Bohnam was 100 times the drummer.

Get his book! It's the most craziest book I've ever read. Carmine sure knew how to have a great time. He even tells the entire story behind the infamous Led Zeppelin fish incident. Please ask him about the new material he did with James LaBrie from Dream Theater. And say hi for me (Tom from the Arcada Theater).

Iron Butterfly & Vanilla Fudge, are 2 band's who are more than worthy of a reappraisal! The former in particular were brilliant exponents of the 'elongated' rock piece! And there was more than a 'passing nod' from some of the giants who were to follow in the next decade!! This was an excellent interview with someone whose musical choices are 'exemplary'!! Huge respect!!😊😊

Jeff Beck played on a Stanley Clarke record in 1978 "Modern Man" - one track had Beck & Carmine on it - an instrumental called .. "Rock 'n Roll Jelly" - all 3 of them are brilliant on it - but even great instrumentals so rarely got radio play - they always wanted vocals on the track ..

Hey Carmine, spearhead a new mastering of the BBA debut from the multi-track (i.e. not the mixed down 2-track master). That album is a monster and it needs to sound like a monster. I dig your drumming and want more of it as well as bring up the cymbals and, overall, air.

Y'all don't even know... When 'Blondes Have More Fun' came out it was so....ugh. Thin. Overproduced. 'Sexy' was ubiquitous and obnoxious pretty quick. The thing is after the softer vibes of Night On The Town and Foot Loose you could just FEEL this guitars wanting to punch out! The ensuing tour made that album sound so much better - it could have been one of Rods most talked about albums but in a good way! Ill always be fond of it - lets get Stephen Wilson to remaster that bad boy! Love ya Carmine!🤘🤘

I'd have to disagree with Carmine about which CACTUS album to pick - their third, "Restrictions" (1971) - with its killer version of 'Evil' and other strong songs (Guiltless Glider) is their best, most focused and best-recorded album. By the way, Mose Allison ("Parcham Farm") was white. 😁
