EXCLUSIVE! Lithuanian Army Vilkas (Boxer) IFV in Action • Demonstration

Infantry Fighting Vehicles “Vilkas” have been made by a German manufacturer ARTEC, according to the requirements of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The vehicles have Israel-made turrets, 30 mm MK-44S cannons and “Spike LR” anti-tank missiles, other specialised equipment and electronic systems.
In order to keep the link with the history of Lithuania and traditions of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, it was agreed by the IFV manufacturer and Lithuania that the IFVs produced according to Lithuania’s requirements would be called “Vilkas” instead of “Boxer”.

Thank you for your interest, Heikki! Those are the Columns of Gediminas. I think it initially was a personal signature of one of the pagan grand dukes, but later somehow became widely used as the military ensign.

The Columns of Gediminas or Pillars of Gediminas are one of the earliest symbols of Lithuania and one of its historical coats of arms. They were used in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, initially as a rulers' personal insignia, a state symbol, and later as a part of heraldic signs of leading aristocracy. During the period between World War I and World War II they were used by the Lithuanian Republic as a minor state symbol, e. g. on Litas coins and military equipment.

Nice..we're buying a load for the British Army..but ours will come without turrets...just plain vanilla IFV's..but with seeing how long procurement takes with the M.O.D. Out Boxers will probably be obsolete by the time they are in service. :)

Well, the Boxer is a modular platform. It can be anything. So, hypothetically spoken, whenever your MOD decides to purchase combat modules with a turret, it can happen. Our Boxers in Germany won't have a turret either, but only because we're adopting the Puma.

Lithuania right now, I think is the only Boxer user who actually ordered it as dedicated IFV fighting machine with serious weapons and stuff........everyone else just uses it as people carrier, ambulance and things of that nature. Which makes since, since Britain and Germany already have a decent IFV machine in service and don't need another one (UK has Warrior, Germany has Puma), Lithuanians didnt have any at all

"just Plain Vanilla IFV" .. that's an APC. IFV: an APC with a gun >20mm, that engages in direct fire support on a mechanized battlefield. Germany has ordered Boxers with 30mm and Spike ATM Turret to replace Wiesels in Jäger Bataillons in the fire support role.

I would imagine the turrent from the Redback IFV could be put on the Australian Boxer CRV if the issues with the lance turret are not fixed. I like this version of the boxer fitted with this turret as the operaters are protected by the heavily armoured main hull of the vehicle because the whole turret is remotely controlled. After some teething issues the turret works extremely well and the spike missle virtually never misses because of the camera in the nose and the excellent design. The ability to change the ammunition in the main gun to 40mm Supershot which has a programmable airburst capability and a specialised armour piercing round that has a substantial increase in performance over the normal 30mm ammunition makes the MK44 a good choice. The MK44 can be changed to 40mm Supershot with a barrel swap and a few parts. This is a very good vehicle and with the tracked boxer available with rubber band tracks that uses all the same modules as the wheeled version, very versatile 😎👍

This thing won't last a second in the battlefield against a competent enemy it's tall as barn, doesn't have armour... And it's meant to fight -modern- mechanised infantry, yeah...

It has more armour than pretty much any other IFV/APC out there, and it can destroy pretty much all other IFV/APC's from 2km distance with ease. It's most probable enemy is Russian BMP-2 and BTR-80, which are inferior in every single category. The vehicle height doesn't matter anymore, with modern optics you can see for kilometers away so a few centimeters of height really doesnt mean anything at that point (Americans in Gulf war could see Russian made tanks and BMPs as far as 3km away even in camouflage and even when they were hiding)

In the role it's being utilised in the Lithuanian armed forces, it's actually specifically meant to fight R**sian tanks. The Spike LR missiles, nestled inside of the turret for protection, are perhaps the single most important attribute of this configuration, but they weren't fired on the day and as such are not shown in this video.

@@crabyman3555 it can destroy pretty much all cold war ifv and apc but NOT the new ones and likely to fight in the future battlefield(up to 50 yrs from now) , like the Russian t-15 and bmpt series ifv , as well as the merkeva apc(unlikely to fight) ,video captured of modern battlefields like syria show how important is to have a small silhouette , against ATGM, and drones . But I guess , this thing will never fight anything else but cavemen somewhere in the ME, so, I guess nothing of this really matters

@@pijus9903 didn't knew it had the spike, I wonder why they use that, given Germany is more than capable of using any of the existing domestic products (milan, pars)

@@richardfreeman724 Russia only has Cold war IFV's.......not a single Armata or T-15 is in service, not a single one. And with the economy Russia has now, there is no sign they will have any in the near future either. So for its role Boxer is more than adequate
