Manish Malhotra is love. His contribution towards changing the aesthetics of Indian cinema single-handedly cannot be emphasized enough. What an inspiration and what a lovely person! I'd love to hear him talk in detail about the thought that went into the creation of some of his iconic designs. Please make that happen if you can, fc! Looking forward to the Meena Kumari biopic with Kriti - knowing M, we can expect some truly spectacular designs and styling. Sending positive vibes for the man, the team, and the project
I am excited for the movies he is producing. What great directors AND cast!! I feel a bit iffy about his directorial as a biopic on Meena Kumari is a huge task. I would only see SLB doing justice to it for now. I hope her struggles aren’t glossed over. Manish is one of the best designers and has contributed a lot to the film industry. I don’t want his reputation to suffer bc of the biopic.

When I heard about him directing the MK biopic, I was very skeptical. I think that’s too much to take on as a first time filmmaker. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see. He might surprise us. But I was really happy about the films he has decided to back as a producer. They all sound interesting and I’m really heartened by the fact that many of the projects will feature outsiders. And I was blown away by Rekha’s pictures. I think he did her justice while walking that line of respectfully pushing her a little outside her comfort zone.

Agree. Leave it someone qualified to direct and script-write. Also, costumes of that period are best left to someone who has studied design. Meena Kumari the legend deserves better.

Those people who don't know anything search 1 name Tom Ford he is a best designer for celebrities and a big name , if manish wanted to became a director and wanted to direct a biopic let him be trust me the movie will be fantastic and I think he will challenge Sanjay Leela Bhansali big sets , costumes and everything .

4:00 First of all, the motivations behind starting the Meena Kumari biopic are clearly misplaced, they just thought bcz her life has been full of ups and downs and grand they could make a larger than life glanarous dharmesque film where Manish can try to showoff his costume designing skills as well and anything grand, barely abkve average nowadays is minting money. The Questuons that came to my mind after hearing the announcement was > who is part of the scripting team, what makes Manish qualified to direct such a huge movie without any previous experience. What resemblance did they find in Kriti Sanon for choosing her to play MK and what made them think she could pull off the acting range of MK at such an early stage of her career. ( No her acting in Mimi does even qualify or come closer to what MK was as an actress) and how are they going to justify the magnanimous off screen personality of MK (based on 2 books - is this a joke). All these Qs should'hv been asked by Anupama, being such an experienced film critic, I was dissappointed none of these were asked and instead there was just pointless puffery for Manish. P.s even bhansali would find it difficult to squeeze MK's life into a movie, the whole making of Pakeezah or Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam is a movie in itself. I hope sense prevails and this project is shelved bcz it has all the makings of an embarassing disaster.

They opted for Kriti Sanon as this is manish Malhotra's directorial debut. If this was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali he would have chosen Alia Bhatt
Such an over-rated designer with no design qualifications. Everything is copied from the west then modified to lehngas and saris. Nothing original just like Kjo's silly movies.
