The TCS were invited to an exclusive families day at RAF Coningsby, a time for friends and family to get together for a biannual event at Ted's home, Ted HQ, aka RAF Coningsby.
We were honoured to enjoy over 4 hours of back to back displays and flypasts. Here was the schedule (that took part) of the day:

RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations which protect UK airspace. RAF Lossiemouth is the other. The base is home to two frontline, combat-ready squadrons and is the training station for Typhoon pilots.
Ted's squadron, 29 OCU, 29 Squadron is enriched in history and was once a fighter squadron. During World War One, 26 of the pilots had achieved 'Ace' Status. Aircraft flown have included the Mosquito, Phantom and Tornado F3. 29 Squadron train RAF combat air pilots on the Typhoon, ready for front-line operations.
Key Dates
1941 - RAF Coningsby opened, serving as an RAF Bomber Command station until the early 1960s.
1953 - The first jet aircraft arrived, the English Electric Canberra
1960 - The arrival of the Phantom in the late 60s marked the base as a Fighter Station.
1962 - Vulcan bombers arrived
1976 - Coningsby became home to the world-famous RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
1987 - The Tornado came into service.
2003 - 17 Squadron was first RAF squadron to receive the Eurofighter Typhoon. 29 Squadron became the second squadron to receive the Typhoon
2008 - Typhoon aircraft replace the Tornado and have been flown here ever since
Legendary aircraft have been based here and the first ever jet aircraft to be based at RAF Conigsby was the English Electric Canberra. Other wonderful aircraft included the Handley Page Hampden, Avro Manchester, Vulcan, Jaguar, Harrier, Phantom and the Tornado

No. 12 Squadron (Joint RAF and Qatari Emiri Air Force sqn)
No. 29 Squadron OCU (Operational Conversion Unit)
No. 41 TES (Test and Evaluation) Squadron
