"When the king gets depressed he doesn't call for his wife or the cook. He calls for the little man with the pointed hat. And he says to the court jester "Make me laugh" and I am that court jester".If this isn't one of the deepest things I've ever heard from him. Felt this on so many levels because its hard to live in solely pleasing people and being "happy"? No one ever asks who cheers up the court jester...
@@teresaunderwood2632 These days people who get bored easily and are happy to be angry, depressed, and paranoid AF. And some of those sick people attack optimistic inspiring people like Richard.
Just watched his last Dave Letterman interviews. It worries you to watch someone who is saying the right thing and only the "joke" of it is getting through.
I think it's very obvious why he is not in public anymore. He said it during the interview himself, it's his knee. If you're used to the public seeing you run around and be hyper to maybe not being able to walk at all or even just to have very slow movement. You wouldnt want the public to see you like that. He want people to remember him for the way we always was. I truly think this is why he backed away. Anyone agree?
Reginald Erb I surely hope you are a troll and don't think that way. If you do think that way you may want to research some things. Gay or not Richard Simmons has and continues to help a lot of people lose weight and feel good about themselves. What that has to do with his sexual preference is beyond me. I would think homophobes would be more supportive of people who don't "flaunt there gay agenda". He's just himself and you are just yourself. He is in the public eye so my mind can conjur an image, but I can conjur an image of you too dick.
I have never thought of you as a jester. Hero is the picture that always comes to mind. Jester? I never thought of you as funny. The love you show for people pours out of you. It's truly amazing.
Poor Richard. He was always a little flamboyant and "weird" , but he truly is a genuinely caring man. He has done so much for people that the world gave up on. People who gave up on themselves. I personally believe that in his quest to help others, he forgot and lost himself. Maybe now he is realizing this? I hope that Richard is happy. He deserves to find love and be happy. Leave him alone ffs.
@@GoaWay4Sanity you're a dumbass Richard Simmons is a man not a woman give him being the way he is it's not an act he truly likes to help people I should know I've met him before and he was very kind and nice to me and to everybody he met so if you're going to make rude comments don't make any at all because you're making yourself sound really stupid.
@@GoaWay4Sanity I don’t know how old are you but I remembered seeing him on TV as a youngster and he is ALWAYS emotional. I think he is one of the real ones and trust me, people like him is not common.
Im happy they did a well being check. Now leave him alone. He help others for 40yrs. He deserves to do what he wants to do for himself. I think he needed to do this for his well being and health.
Such a sweet man who only wanted to help people and make them smile and laugh. There's so much sadness in his eyes, and I wish I could give the guy a hug for getting me started on working out and losing weight. I moved on to weights and the Insanity Workout. Went from 240 to 165 pounds all because Richard got me started on the right track. I honestly wish I could give the dude a hug and thank him.
My mom really liked him, loved his book, his exercises. She also knew first hand about knee replacements. He's human, we all go through something. I wish him the best!
He makes so much sense. No one can understand unless they’ve been in a similar dark space and mental obscureness. What he means in the psychological and emotional sense is that in the darkest of times, you only have yourself, and if you can’t make yourself happy or laugh, it’s a dark hole and place you will stay in. You don’t want people to see you that way. Most of the pop can still find something that brings them joy. It comes to the point (even when you have “everything”), and you can’t crack a smile no matter how bad you want it…I truly feel for Richard. My heart Goes out to him.
I think he's just depressed and tired :( I hope everything works out for him, but I don't think completely isolating yourself from friends and the public is the way to go.
LateNightCrazies ....weather you like the guy or not, it's nice to see Hollywood cares(or some) usually no one reaches out and we hear of death and people will say, " darn I wish I would have checked on them".
No it's not, in fact the exact opposite will help him with the depression. We as humans are not supposed to be alone. Their is a comfort in strangers :)
I hope he's okay. He's very, very "different," but it's appalling how many people use nothing but that to hang their cruelty on. I don't get him, I don't understand him, but I know that for more than 40 years he's taken a lot of people whose lives were truly miserable and helped them be healthier and happier and love themselves. However odd he may be, he's made a huge positive difference in the world to a lot of people. I wish him every success and hope he's able to find some of that happiness himself.
He just wanted to have peace he had surgery he’s helped others he has the right to his privacy he’s been in the spotlight for so much he just wants to step back and if he chooses to come out of retirement just let him be who he is
God bless him wherever he is! I remember how much he helped my baby sitter who was lonely depressed and overweight.. She used to get up and do a little exercise with Richard and actually would smile.
He's always been such a kind man. I remember him all the way back to General Hospital. He deserves to do whatever he wishes for his retirement. I hope he's happy.
Richard seems to me was a beautiful soul!!!! He always had this amazing smile and always seemed to be happy. He is a person i would have liked to meet, he seemed so genuine and loving person. R.I.P. Richard ❤
Man goes to the doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. The doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.” The watchmen
You are such an inspiration to millions of people around the world even little old New Zealand . You have got a golden heart. And their aren't many of those around. Take care Richard God bless.
Robin Williams wasn't just sad, he was going crazy. He had Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's. He began to enter states of absolute helplessness, where he couldn't remember anything or even form a rational thought. Then, in an instant, he'd be back to being normal, only to regress to that state a few minutes later. He was literally losing his mind. Sure, he was depressed, but his passing went far beyond mere depression. Edit: I know this comment is a year old, but people still don't understand what drove Robin Williams to suicide. We all loved him and, within that mind frame, should appreciate the honesty of the situation.
Robin Williams found out that he had a degenerating illness that would eventually make him unable to care for himself. He did not want to be a burden to his family and took his own life. It was not because of depression. You're acting as if you knew Robin Williams and are giving wrong information.
you're absolutely nuts, if you think this weirdo fuckhead is depressed because there's hate in the world, lol...the world is the same as it's always been, he's just going 50% more insane than he's ever been...probably dementia.
I believe he's malnourished. He sounds like he lost weight by starving himself and exercise. People who are fat are actually starving NUTRITIONALLY. If you eat the same standard processed diet but just less of it, you become an unhealthy thin person instead of an unhealthy fat person. I know he makes comments about not eating certain items that are straight up junk food but I never heard him give any good information on obtaining good nutrition. Good nutritious food will result in weight loss automatically. And exercise is great too, of course. But starving yourself nutritionally and putting the small amount of nutritional resources towards exercise is a recipe for poor health, which is exactly why Richard Simmons always has looked, and in reality is, very sickly.
I agree. I hope he does this. but people who where use to seeing him at his studio before may still expect that and want things from him, or be worried about him because he's "different", when he's just being himself, which may make Richard feel bad. you know? that's what I would be concerned about.
Thanks ET for the update. My heart feels better knowing Richard is ok. with so much loss, I don't think the world can handle it right now. Richard is a big part of my life. I could feel his love for us as he shared with us not only how to lose weight but to LOVE and big hug ourselves. He feels more like Big Brother Richard looking out for the little guys- excuse the pun -I wasn't little. Love you Richard SO much!!! Hug yourself for me 😊
Everyone has a right to be different! None of us are exactly the same as any other person. Let him retire! I am retired! There is more to life than fame.
He was an energetic and unique 40 something year old entertainer that used exercise as his vehicle and now he's in his 70's and doesn’t want to be judged by the public anymore. I get it! I hope your retirement is fulfilling and enjoyable. You made older people feel good about getting off the couch and moving, you probably extended the life of millions without them even knowing about it.
I believe the wonderful man could very much come back now, there's a huge need right now for positive speakers on the depression subject. I think he's the one who can help give some insight into such a hard subject, like depression, alot of us grew up with Richard and would love to have him back, in this new forum or platform.
Richard, you are our Hero! May The Peace of Jesus himself bless you for all the love you've given and greatness you've done! Prayers going out for you!
Luv him too, think he's the greatest,.U know if alot of folks would be nice we wouldn't worry..Could be thinking he's being watched or followed,.Scary,.
I've always LOVED Richard Simmons, he has been so nice and loving and just a bright shining light to all he encounters. Sounds like he had a bit of depression, so please keep him in your prayers!
..loves Richard "The Fruit" Simmons, believes in fairytales, and thinks mythical people were real, lol...yeah, you're sane(lol)...worry about yourself, ya nutcase.
Guy retired ... let him relax. He used to teach these classes 450 times a year, that's 1,3 classes a day as well as his promotion, his product development, making videos, appearances on talkshows, all the damn travel ... this guy was in essence living the constant touring life of a pop/rock star. Yeah, he earned a retirement. Still be nice to see him out and about once in a while though ... not performing just showing up to things. I guess some people just make a decision. He probably decided he earned enough.
6 years later and this was the last time we heard his voice. Stuff has been posted on his social media accounts, but it's all old archival footage like his workouts. I know he doesn't owe anyone an explanation, all we can do is hope he's enjoying his private time.
Showbiz is hard work! Richard hit the wall for whatever reason and pulled the plug. It's his life, and he's helped and entertained tens of millions of people. He's earned it.
He's a total enfp. We do this when we are sad. We need to work it out on our own and tend to hide when things aren't perfect because we only want to be seen as happy and cheerful in the eyes of the public. I understand this completely. ❤️
While he is indeed entitled to his privacy by all means it still worries me that no one ever sees him or talks to him. I pray he is alright. Richard has been a light in a very dark world with a heart of gold would love to see him at least sometimes just to say hello to all and let us know he really is doing okay......
After people are in the public eye for so long, many of them wish for the anonymity they had before they became famous. I think the relief of being out of the public eye for the last 10 years of his life was a huge relief. He basically retired. Good for him! RIP Richard
This is fucking proof, of how the media depicts a person. If we need time to our own, then take that damn time off. It's no one's business but your own.
Dude, with the superhuman amount of bubbly energy Richard had all throughout the 80's and 90's, it's no wonder the guy wanted to live out his golden years in private, in peace, and finally relaxing. Hope he stays happy, healthy, relaxed, and safe :)
It seems that the world and its views always have a negative tendency to destroy people. Richard just wants to get away from it all and live for himself. richard just live your life and enjoy whatever remaning time you have on this earth.
Richard Simmons has devoted his life to helping others, giving every bit of time and effort, blood sweat and tears to help other people. The least we can do, is give him some quiet time too. He's more than earned it. Every time he's seen in pubic, its never about him, it's about him helping other people.
I know that his beloved dog died. And, sometimes you just don't want to act, be loud and not be yourself. He's getting to be Richard Simmons now. God Bless him!
"When the king is sad, he doesn't call his wife or the cook. He calls the court Jester, and says, 'Make me laugh!' ... I am that court Jester." :,( Whenever someone wonders where a huge celebrity, "goes," I'll just tell them what he said.
I hate the word weird. He's just loud, outspoken and flamboyant. He makes everyone laugh, helps people lose weight and very loving person. ❤️ be strong Richard S.
Richard Simmons you were an I Con back in the day you touched a lot of people lives take a back seat this time is your's for real always been a good fan it's your turn now have a great life peace and love 💗💗💗💗💗 enjoy who gives a crap what other people think this is your time thank you God bless you Richard and family friends ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯 it's your turn to enjoy you dedicated your life now it's time for people to understand an let you grow old with grace ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I always liked richard Simmons he seems sweet and genuine.stop the tumors and let him live his live taking care of him self.always a fan of his.god bless you Richard Simmons on your continued journey in life.
I have always been a fan of yours Richard..Hang in there my Brother..Life isn't always easy and it isn't suppose to be..Glad to hear your hangin in..:)..
I wish Richard Simmons would let Pauly Shore do the biopic movie on his life. Both Pauly Shore and Richard Simmons could benefit by this movie by teaching the next generation how important these two men were to the previous two generations.
We love you Richard.. you will always have a place in my heart...you were an icon when I was going up...that should be enough..you did it.. you made it.. now rest old friend.....bless your heart ❤️
Poor Richard, I think he's suffering from depression and just want to hide. Thank goodness he has a good housekeeper/staff to look after him. I wish he didn't isolate himself from the world; the WORLD reach out to you Richard and hold you tightly and say "Thank You" !
He should understand we LOVE him and are just displaying our concern. Well God Bless you Richard on your journey. Hang in there. If sadness is what you are experiencing just no that Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Fight on and be strong!
God bless him. I've always loved Richard Simmons. There is not that many people in the entertainment business that you can see has a truly kind heart and he is one of those people. Hearing him describe himself as a court jester just broke my heart. He deserves better then that. I think that is why he has shied away from the public eye because Hollywood is a dark ugly place and he is the kind of person that is just too precious for that world.
Let Richard age in peace. He has had knee replaced and his other knee is hurting. I know what it is like to live in chronic pain. He could be depressed. He has helped a lot of people and has made exercise fun.
I too just had a knee replacement and it’s a slow healing process..Up to 12 mths to be back too all most 100%..look after yourself first now Richard god bless🙏🏻
