The anchor is completely wrong when he says Ram is not revered in south at the same level as in North. Don’t so entire south, because Ram is very much part of lives of Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka.

Interesting interview. As a South Indian, I am unsure about the views expressed here that Sri Ram (Sri Raman as we call him) is not revered or worshipped as much in South India. There may be fewer temples of Sri Ram compared to Sri Krishna or Sivan (Mahadevan) and Devi for example in Kerala but the reverence for Sri Ram has always been on a very high level and that chant Hare Rama Hare Krishna echoes across the temples in the whole region and austerities are observed during special occasion during the year connected to Bhagwan Ram. I think people often confuse religious practices and rituals observed in different regions of India to gauge the level of devotion. Sri Rama is an integral part of Indian culture and civilisation and even that concept of "North-South" divide should not exist amongst us when it comes to matters of Sanatana Dharma because how can the Lord of the Universe be confined to a region on earth? I understand that there are people who talk in limiting terms but that is their small-mindedness and limited, literal understanding of spirituality. In some cases, politics takes precedence in such conversations. That causes all these erroneous conclusions.

The birthplace of Jesus is precious to Christians across the world. Why is it hard to respect the feelings of more than a billion people who waited over 500 years to see the return home of their Lord?

Epic. Odysee of Homer and long stories like that with deeper meanings about human life are called epics. And by the way for me as a Sri Lankan tamilian Ram means a lot to me. My grandfarther used to tell me the Ramayana story. I am very emotional these days and tamil language is full of references to Ramayana. It is another giid example of how DMK's ideology is not congruent with tamil culture at all.

Nowhere is Puri Shankaracharya against the inauguration? His words were also twisted out of context. His actual interview was provided by one of the South Indian channels-Hindudharmakshetram. It was very clear from it that the Shankara Acharya did not oppose it at any time. The words were entirely asked by the media interviewer, who kept insisting on the reason and used those words that were purported to be said by Shankaracharya.

Interesting that a Christian journo is interviewing a spiritual guru who was born as a Muslim!!

The earliest reference of Ram is from Valmiki Ramayan In Valmiki Ramayan Ram is referred as Maryada Purshotam which means a dignified and elevated man He is not projected as a God Was made into a God sometime during the Puranic era that is around 1950---1400 years ago . Also all religions are Man made So whether Ram is a God or not is a matter of personal opinion and personal faith

Rama not being popular in the south is incorrect. Almost all Tyagaraja krithis are on Rama and a lot of Purandara krithis too are based on Rama and Ramayana. Expect more research from an anchor before making such statements.
