Exclusive: Thomas Markle's Final Interview? A Plea To See His Grandchildren | Good Morning Britain

The last-ever interview Thomas Markle is likely to give. He wants to make a last appeal for reconciliation with Meghan and a chance to meet the grandchildren he so wishes to see before he dies. He would also like it to be part of a process by which the Sussexes also make peace with Harry's father and brother. Thomas, who has recovered his speech following a severe stroke, says that he has shared grandchildren with the King of England for a whole year and neither has seen their grandchildren.
Both he and King Charles have been described as hardworking, shy and grumpy at times, and he is willing to acknowledge the fact this may not have helped solve the situation. But, despite being heartbroken that his daughter failed to make contact or ask about him in the wake of his stroke, he is keen to reach out if only for one conversation - in whichever format she chooses.

As someone who was raised by an abusive mother, cut ties with her and moved far away from her. When I had a child, I realized that parents make mistakes and I can forgive her, let her meet her grand kid, and responsibly monitor her around him so they can develop a healthy relationship. Megan's doing this out of manipulation. Her father (according to her) only did this one thing wrong. She didn't even bother to check in on him when he was dying.

This is the same father who did a secret deal with a tabloid newspaper for nearly £1m days before the wedding where he posed for pictures shopping for the big day etc. Unfortunately, for him the newspaper used him and then called him a grifter. In fact, the whole Markle clan are red neck grifters who have destroyed Harry's standing as a royal. I'm not a fan of Harry & Megan but I can appreciate they have to make a living to they no get money from the public purse or Charles. As for Thomas, he exploited her behind her back and expects to be treated as if nothing as happened. Thomas also got money for selling letters that Megan had written to him before and after the wedding. A U.K. newspaper had to pay Megan compensation for infringing her privacy. Why can't people grasp why a daughter may no longer trust her father!

I never had a relationship with my father because of my mother. I had two children and the last time I spoke to my dad he wanted to see his grandkids before he died. This never happened 6 months later he passed away. For the last 6 years I have lived with this burden and take accountability that I robbed my children of knowing or seeing their pop . Hopefully Thomas gets to see his grand children.

Regret is a heavy burden regardless of whether we are right or wrong in our actions and decisions. And you must have had your reasons that justified your actions at the time. The fact that you now regret it. Means that you have grown in strength of character. And can and will learn from it. And it will make you a better person for the experience. As a parent you have truly learnt that you should absolutely love your children far far more than you dislike/hate the person involved. Please don't put yourself in the same category as this appalling excuse of a woman. She is not capable of feeling what you feel. She will never experience things like regret, empathy, compassion, conscience love, sympathy. She is void of all human emotions other than the ones that are hers. And that applies to every single relationship she has right across the board. She will always come first . And it will always be at the expense of someone else. She will never feel that unconditional love that only a mother is capable of feeling for her child. Who would die in a heartbeat to protect them. She would hold hers up as a shield! That woman is made of titanium And nothing and no one will ever touch her. She won't lose a night's sleep over anyone love including her kids. So please!!!! Give yourself a break and be kind to yourself 💐💐💐

With all due respect Mr. Markle and his oldest daughter (Samantha) went on interview after interview bashing Meghan and Harry for years. M&H only did their documentary 5 years later to tell their story due to all the misconceptions told about them as they sat in silence. As a parent I will protect my children and my peace from anyone regardless of who they are (ei: King or Grandparent). Which is what they're doing and have a right to do... if he wants to restore his relationship with his daughter and see his grandkids he can start by not speaking to the media (press).

What biased interviewers, taking sides and been judge and jury. Seemed determined to portray Meghan in a negative light and almost putting words in his mouth- so crude.We never know what goes on behind closed doors and especially in families. We only know what " they" tell us. I have to say though that he seems to have regrets about his behaviour and his apology sounds genuine.

I can’t understand why this happens in families. My parents are both dead and we’re not perfect but I’d never turn my back on them and had so much contact. Now they’re gone I’m so glad we had the relationship we did. I can’t see what Mr Markle did that deserved this? So sad and heartbreaking for him and his grandchildren.

I would have thought the photos of Mr. Markle prepping for the wedding would not have caused Meghan to be thrown out of the family; au contraire, they would have interjected a lighthearted American accent to dutiful protocol evidenced everywhere else. She might have opened the lens and realized that since that is what she wants for whatever cause she may accurately or mistakenly stand up for at any time.

I'm sure if her Dad would stop talking to the press against her and Harry she would reconcile with him. Also, I think she would reconcile with her father if Samantha and her brother were not in the way. She never liked them and they were not nice with her when she got married with Harry. So why should she be nice with them? She knows that if she reconciles with the father she will have to deal with his children from his first mariage. It's very sad indeed. Harry and Meghan have NOTHING to say about family. To isolate children from their grandparents and extended family is very cruel and cold-hearted. Their children, as they grow up, will wonder and ask about their grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and family history. Harry and Meghan's children will learn the truth as they grow up.They live in a country with freedom of speech. Thomas Sr. isn't just speaking to his daughter, he is speaking to his grandchildren, in the future. He wants them to know he really cares about them. And as they grow up and have access to the internet, they will learn how much their grandfather tried to reach out to them with love.

This is not what a loving parent would do. This is encouraging hate towards his daughter and painting her as a bad person. This is not what a loving understanding parent would do. This report is just to mar her reputation. All relationships need to be founded on respect and care and if he has not shown that then it is understandable why he would not be considered to be around grandchildren. You cannot make the mother feel betrayed and then demand you have access to her children. It breaks trust and people instinctively do NOT want to expose their children to people who have broken their trust. If he really wanted to see his grandchildren he would have to work on his relationship with her and sometimes that may not work as the betrayal cannot be surpassed.

He was an oscar nominated Lighting Director with two Emmys, who looked after Meghan for a huge proportion of her life, paid for her lessons and took her to studios to get her started in her career. He was left to deal with hordes of journalists when Harry and Meghan became engaged, his only mistake was deciding to give a reporter exclusive coverage to get rid of the rest of the media outside his front door. By comparison to H and M sharing everything, including very personal details, I can't see what he did that was so terrible just having his picture taken trying a suit on and reading some London guide books!.

Sam is well educated (mental health professional) and very articulate and lays out the facts. Also it seems the letter to her father was leaked to People mag (by Meghan). I believe details came out during a court case in the UK. Looks like Meghan had reasons to try to discredit the Markle family and the Samantha interviews explain it.

He could try suing but unless he has a good solid reason other than "I want to see them just cuz I'm the grandpa", he ain't winning that. Besides, if the kids reside in another country with their parents, any attempt at "suing" is almost laughable. Unless the kids are abused or in bad conditions, he must respect her decision, he already had his own children and did as he wanted to when they were young, he doesn't get to decide over other people's children. Megan might be unfair with her decision, or perhaps she has good reasons behind it, honestly, who knows, but that's irrelevant anyway cause these are her kids, not his, and if she doesn't want certain people in their young lives for X or Y reasons, then that's it.

Visitation rights aren't granted without good reason, and just because someone thinks they are entitled to somebody else's children. Grandparents' rights are usually only granted in cases where there is already a pre-existing and strong relationship between the child and the grandparent (which isn't in this case), and if they can prove that ending said relationship can negatively impact the child. So good luck on him winning that one! 👌🏼 In reality, and unless well justified, most of these requests are easy to dismiss/deny because there are laws that actually protect biological parents over any other family member in relation to the child (unless there's abuse, neglect... ect ).

Just heartbreaking. Our daughter has abandoned us as well. We did and gave even more than we could afford and do while she was growing up. We were always so proud of her...but she has turned her back on us. Her father is going thru some of the same heart issues as Mr. Markle...she knows this thru her sister but she has never reached out. We have reached out to her...and have gotten complete silence. Mr, Markle there are those of us who know your pain very well. Praying for you!
