@@matthewsimon9500 trust me dude winter in Arizona for a pro athlete beats a lot of other places. Utah and Az have some of the hottest chicks on the planet.
I know what’s sad: how this franchise is still in this dud of a city. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the Phoenix Metropolitan area is great, but it definitely isn’t screaming hockey great.
@@oilersridersbluejays I remember the Coyotes commercials on tv as a kid in the 90's but this city has always been a basketball city for the Phoenix Suns. Even the Cardinals don't matter as much as the Suns do for this place. Kinda sad yet hilarious to see what's happened to the Coyotes.
@@oilersridersbluejays it wasn't screaming hockey in Glendale. Glendale is near the middle of no where almost heading towards California. Tempe the Coyotes were selling out. They are back where they belong. They've had solid attendance this year. It's so hard to get a coyotes ticket. They sell out quick. Going to Tempe should stabilize their attendance.
Yeah. And they're mad about it now. Tbh this arena would make for a decent sphl arena, but nhl? No. I'm surprised that they even allowed this to go on for so long.
Gary Bettman is the answer you're looking for. He loves the Coyotes so much he'd let them play at someones backyard for free of charge. He has so desperately wanted the NHL to succeed in a desert. He got that in Vegas. But he still wants it to succeed in Arizona cause that's always been his main target. If this were the NBA this would've been cause for an outrage.
Calgary will be threatened with relocation because of no arena deal but he’ll allow this joke of a franchise to play in a 5000 seat college arena that still won’t sell out.
Such a homer!!! Making the best of the situation wld be to relocate the team to a city with an NHL sized arena like Houston, KC, Quebec City, or Hamilton
@@brandonlewis5135 it might be a great arena for college hockey. For a NHL team, it's an absolute embarrassment. Especially with the fact they don't even have a permanent building guarenteed.
@Brandon Lewis it’s not just the arena though. It’s everything that’s wrong with this joke of a franchise. No profits generated from day 1, lacklustre attendance, lack of playoff or even regular season success, poor ownership, arena issues after arena issues. It is a big deal because this team shouldn’t even exist in such an environment. Relocation is the only way to fix this joke of a franchise.
I was just in Phx visiting a friend and he took me to a ASU hockey game at the new arena. It's a great new home but my only complaint is there is literally no walking room to your seats in the rows. I'm not even a big person and I could barely squeeze in to get to my seat.
Bro said "I could't imagine being a student here right now"...LOL if ASU students are okay with paying 500 a ticket for games... one hell of a date for a college student ... like yeah lemme shell out $950 for two seats to see McDavid pack the barn here lol
This is actually embarrassing for the NHL. Why do they continue to beat this dead horse? There are sooooo many cities you could move this team too and see the team flourish in terms of profits. Mind boggling
So embarrassing for the NHL and the coyotes.. an amateur rink for an amateur team!! This is a professional sports league that sells out 17-20,000 seat buildings!! What a joke, The coyotes must be soo embarrassed after knowing what every other team in the league plays in. This guy is really trying to sell this as a good thing, what a joke
I worked in TV for 25 years. This is a great piece. The reporter was very fair was compelling told the story just the way it should have been told. Did a great job of matching video with the storyline. Outstanding story well done
@@oilersridersbluejays I'm a Sharks fan, not a Coyotes fan. I am happy for ASU hockey having a nice, albeit smaller arena. For the NHL, not NHL standard ---for sure.
Totally disagree. Why was the camera locked on this Chad and not panning around the arena, the locker room (which sucks), etc. It was supposed to be a tour of the arena.
Awsome times for cyotes.. One Door 🚪 closes..?? 🤔Two Doors 👌Open 👍I'm excited to see this unfold to a sucess story...Go Cyotes From ..Winnipeg Vern Wilson see you soon at the games in Phoenix 👌
@@zachmeyer1265 I should hope so. But for how many games? There are Jr Hockey teams in Canada that play in larger rinks and not only sell out every game, but have a waiting list for tickets. This is an embarrassment for any major sports franchise
I’m not really a hockey person but my friend is and I told her I should get into it so we can talk shit. I am an AZ guy though, but she told me they’re a mess and moved into a place called Mullett Arena and fans west mullets to games. Hilarious.
@@oilersridersbluejays damn you guys haven’t done shit since 1990, atleast you can be known as the team that got blown by the coyotes in their last game
He insists so much on how it's gonna be great for college students to have an NHL team, but don't talk about how it's gonna suck for the players of the team...
Only chance they have of selling out is when Canadian teams come to play there and their diehard fans and the retired snowbirds come to Arizona to watch them annihilate the Coyotes.
unfortunately the few. of you that there are. This arena is but to compete in the NHL where all the other teams are subsidizing the coyotes is just plain wrong. My guess is they wont sell out his arena either, Oilers fan here
Who cares, why shouldn't the visiting team get nice accommodations. They're visitors. The Miami Dolphins keep their opposing sideline hotter than the home side for a reason.
@zachmeyer1265 they probably should care actually. Visitor dressing rooms say a lot about a franchise in the NHL. If the visitor’s dressing rooms are nice, the franchise seems to care about all players, and the city should be a good one to play in. No wonder the Coyotes can’t attract free agents. If you had to play in a tiny piece of crap arena with a pine stump for a change room bench, I wouldn’t want to chose the Coyotes as a free agent neither. Believe me, the Coyotes should be doing as much as they can to attract free agents, because playing for the Coyotes would be like playing in purgatory: you don’t get anywhere, you’re in a no-man’s land, your team has questionable ownership, arena issues, barely any fan attendance, and the everlasting threat of relocation.
Yeah: “come watch the Oilers with McDavid and Draisaitl or the Colorado Avalanche come beat up on your team.” Sounds great for me as an Oilers fan. If I was a Coyotes fan, I would be wondering how many more decades of crap I would have to endure, not just on-ice, but off-ice as well.
@@oilersridersbluejayshello, you seem very interested and fascinated in a team you seem to despise. Why so upset? One would think you would not care for the team since you have so many negative things to say about them. Why concern yourself with a team you don't like? I'd say save energy to root for your favorite teams instead.
Hockey belongs everywhere. This will be the best thing for the franchise. $25 student section seating. Mill Ave is a awesome place to hangout, so is university Dr. it’s closer to Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe neighborhoods right off the 202. People from colder climates move to the desert and maybe most come from hockey intense regions.
@@NKase-vy1kf This will be great only for the students, the NHL is already looked upon as the worst league at marketing in the US. Playing in an arena with only 5000 seats and locker rooms suited for amateur teams. This is an embarrassment to the league and to have the team remain in AZ is just tragic.
This franchise has been a joke since it moved to Phoenix. Buttman knew he was wrong for moving them from Winnipeg. He was too stubborn to admit that. When Atlanta (unshockingly) went tits up, that was Gary’s cue to give Winnipeg a team again, while allowing him to save face by keeping this dead horse in Arizona. Within a couple of seasons after Gary quits, retires, or dies, this sad sack joke of a franchise will be relocated to Quebec City.
@@LasDegas MLS was a joke when it started. Maybe because I see the glass as half full that I believe in this transition. Gotta get them while they are young, speaking about the ASU students. Maybe they become life long Coyote fans because of the good times they had. Who knows. I always looked up to NHL players because they get paid less than any US pro sport. Facts. They lose teeth but still keep smiling, fight the opponent not because of bad sportsmanship, but because it will ignite that fire that the players needs to play harder. Amateur locker rooms or not. 5000 fans or not. If they love this game as much as I know I think they do. Who gives a dang. I’ll tell you what. I’ve been to AZ/PHX area. What a great and fun city to be a casual visitor in. Imagine a professional’s lifestyle here. Idk what the heck Quebec City offers for down time. I can honestly say, nothing compared to PHX
Can you ask the coyotes to not sell tickets for over $200 for a below average team that more visiting team fans are going to show up then actual Coyote fans
The only chance this thing has of selling out is when a Canadian team comes to play, and 90% of the fans in attendance will be fans of those Canadian teams.
Who’s shocked. It was a piece of shit franchise ever since they came to Arizona. Gretzky had little to do with it. And he’s gone and it’s still a dumpster fire.
I think this is a fantastic situation to be in. One of the largest student populations in the country. In a pretty awesome part in Tempe instead of Glendale, more activities before the games because of mill ave and university drive. $25 student seats. Not one bad seat in the arena. I alway thought that hockey players are the more down to earth, blue collar, hardest working, giving their all to the sport professionals, and idk -maybe a dressing room is last priority.
I'm not blaming the Arizona Coyotes blaming Gary and the NHL for putting them in this situation. Hockey was never going to truly work out in Arizona you took away a hockey team great City and a great fan base only to give them a team some years later. What a fucking mess this is just give them to Quebec or Hartford a city that will support
Boy do you have no clue whatsoever about why the original Jets left. Maybe next time instead of ranting about how Phoenix somehow stole them, do your research next time before yapping about the Coyotes.
I don't understand. Everyone hates it so much, that they can't stop watching videos and commenting. You people have issues lol. Isn't there a video of the Leafs losing that you should be posting on instead? The same comment 100 times there too right? "What a joke, what a joke, what a joke, what a joke" We heard you, now go find an audience because you're butt hurt that you were wrong about something and the Yotes never moved lol.
@@oilersridersbluejays Remember when people said the oilers were probably going to be moved when you guys were a dumpster fire for a few decades? Blowing pick after pick for years? Then you got lucky and won McDavid? Then they built you a new Arena for Connor? You don't? That's because you won't remember this either in 10 years when the Yotes are still there.
@@oilersridersbluejays I think the Flames started in Calgary with an arena with less than 10,000 seats until they moved into a bigger rink. That was OK that time. BettMan IMMEDIATELY relocated in his first few years the Nordiques, Jets and Whalers. Meanwhile, he has defended THE MOST USELESS market in Arizona, Phoenix, Glendale, where ever SHIT place they want to play in that state, for YEARS now👎👎👎🤢🤮🤮🤮
Buttman knows it too. That’s why he keeps them in Arizona. When Atlanta went tits up, that was Gary’s way to save face. Relocate the Thrashers to Winnipeg to give them the Jets back but he gets to keep his precious Coyotes in Arizona. Whenever Gary quits or retires or whatever, this travesty of an NHL team will be relocated to Quebec City.
It's disgraceful it has come to this point. But Bettman and the NHL will not allow the Coyotes to move and fail and will do anything, and throw any resources, to keep them in the desert.
I call playoffs, I smell a turning point for the team. This is coming from a passionate PENS FAN in Oz. Not a ideal situation but there good in every bad situation.
@@shanewilson8728 Not quite. What hasn’t been successful is previous management & ownership. Been a fan since 1996 and it was packed when the Arena was in Phoenix. It was packed when they were winning in Glendale. So the moral of the story is put a great team together in a great location = success. After the rebuild and upcoming new arena fans will be there.
It’s just another chapter of a dumpster fire franchise called the Coyotes. The lacklustre attendance, lacklustre play, lacklustre arenas and questionable ownership issues. It all adds up. This franchise should have been relocated years ago. Only God knows why the NHL continues to beat this dead horse of a franchise.
@@oilersridersbluejays Educate yourself on the television market, diversity and population of the Phoenix metro area (especially the east valley). One of many reasons why ownership and the NHL stay here. What I find funny is the many people from other fanbases getting triggered on what another team does or doesn't do. Then as snowbirds they pay for tickets to attend games.
Arizona have had since 1996 to make things work and turn a profit. If there is so much “potential” for growth, it should have happened by now. This joke of a franchise goes from bad to worse. Once Bettman is gone, they’ll be moved ti Quebec City. Team owners don’t want to have to be shelling out their profits to Arizona to keep the piece of shit Coyotes alive. Enjoy your Coyotes while they are still there, because they won’t be around much longer.
Its cool, but pathetic at the same time. Maybe if it seated 10k it would be a different story. But I wonder how long it would be for the team not to even fill that amount of people for their games. Bettman just cant admit that the Arizona experiment didnt work and relocate the franchise. Even a downtown Tempe arena with standard capacity would be a waste on the Coyotes.
Another Conservunist $ocialist (ASU public University) taxpayer handout to another Billionaire sports owner for his loosing team that defaulted on their $180 Million Glendale, AZ. taxpayer funded stadium! "From the wallets of the many into the pockets of the few."
The worst part of all this is fans of all the other NHL teams have been forced to pay higher ticket prices to keep propping up Bettman’s failed per project for decades now. This is about as low as it can get!
@@Mike-zf4xg The fact that you have no idea that there are countries outside US where such names are common is embarasing. And also fact that you have a need to harass a person based on their name is even more embarasing. Have a nice day.
