@@laurynsylvain07 Disney often radically changes the original stories. Whoever she is, Eilonwy is my second favorite Disney character ever, especially for the "Girl Power" moment.
@@passaggioalivello Yeah. I love her to death ever since I saw this movie. Also, I read the book and realized she was both. She's the Princess of Llyr and both her parents died and her family sent her to Achren, who was a villain which claimed to be her aunt. She was a scullery maid when she was living with Taran in the 2nd book in the series, The Black Cauldron. She was helping Taran and Dallben in the cottages.
Please spread the word of Princess Eilonwy in The Black Cauldron (the movie). Tell it to your friends, children, family, speech in class or school, everyone. There is three things I don't want forgotten and one of them is Princess Eilonwy. Please keep her alive in everyone's imagination
Eilonwy said that the Horned King stole her in hope that her Bauble would tell him where The Black Cauldron was, but the book claims that her family members sent her to The Spiral Castle to live with Queen Achren, which claimed to be her aunt, so she actually lives there. The Horned King didn't have anything to do with it. 🤔
@@Dimensioneer88 The Horned King was the secondary villain. Arawn was the main villain and that's the face on the cauldron. They were talking about him on the prologue, but barely mentioned him anywhere else. Only The Horned King. Also, The Horned King died by Prince Gwydion using his secret name then he exploded. But the movie has the cauldron sucking his flesh and exploding his remainings.
I watched this film yesterday and I agree it's too dark and scary fro kids, even I (adult) felt strange while watching it. However, the plot, the characters and the animation are great. And why on earth isn't Eilonwy an official Disney princess?
Because The Black Cauldron didn't go well in the box office and it had scary content for kids back in the day. Because of this, girls didn't want Eilonwy to look up to, so she wasn't official.
My future kids will know who she is since I just bought the movie on iTunes (it's also on my VUDU and Disney Movies Anywhere since they're all linked).
Loved this movie. I think it's a conspiracy (or conspiracy theory to others) that fans didn't hate the movie, but the critics made the public believe everyone hated it... to keep the movie from ever seeing the light of day (in order to hide some kind of masonic message that was not approved). Alas, it got limited show time.
+Caillou's Dad Actually, the reviews were mixed. And the reason why this movie didn't perform so well is because it was considerably darker than anyone would expect a Disney movie to be. Heck, footage had to be cut specifically to keep it from getting an R rating.
Seems odd... I remember growing up reading books like The Dark Crystal, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, The Secret of NIMH... seeing movies like The Land Before Time and The Last Unicorn ... and The Black Cauldron was one of my favourite books growing up. I still have an old copy! All of those had some pretty dark threads in them, but I loved every bit of it as a kid, even if I thought it was scary.
omg this book series was my childhood and is now represented by my alias, as you can all see in my username lmao. I need to reread the series and watch this.
She wasn't included in the princess lineup because of her age. If you google the princess lineup it includes a good amount of characters who to me count as princesses
Elionwy is 14 in this movie, the same age as Snow White. The only reason she isn't in the line up is because the movie did not make a lot of money after the release/wasn't popular.
Here's why Eilonwy is not considered part of the lineup: 1) The movie flopped, and unlike Sleeping Beauty, this movie did not get a large following before the Disney Princess franchise started. 2) The only PG movies in the lineup are the CG ones. 3) She's only 12 years old; Snow White (the youngest princess in the lineup) is 14.
Their voices. They are so bad.... ROLF at 'Excuse me, Princess'. Even though it's not actually part of the film, it's still the best part in the movie.
She was literally putting him down saying he didn't amount to anything, the Sword did all the work. I may be insane, but im pretty sure swords don't cut things without somebody holding it. Maybe. If I was him in that time period, I wouldn't take that crap either. at the end of the day, Men did everything, majority of the time.
Men did not even remotely "do everything" lol. Women's work was from sun up to past sundown and they saw that men's lives would run smoothly and efficiently. They managed castles (which are essentially small cities), were war leaders when their husbands were away, managed alliances with other houses, housed and entertained large groups of guests, wove, cooked, baked, sewed, taught and raised children, and did all of this without help or modern conveniences. That's not even all of it. Not sure why you're acting like Eilonwy is making baseless attacks on men when Taran was the one making a baseless attack on Eilonwy for being female and she only pointed out that he would've gotten nowhere without the help of a girl.
@@jostockton. a very stupid reply. Men did everything by comparison. Men build the houses, defended villages, went to war, ran farms, operate heavy machinery, etc. Without doing all the hard stuff, you would not be able to do anything. You may be useful in someways, but men are the buikding blacks of civilization not you.
