Hi Ryan, thank you for making this video. We are exploring the book of James in our group study and the contents of your video will surely help us. Towards the end of the video, you mentioned that you would be sharing the next video explaining about "How to study The Scripture using good hermeneutics". I'm not sure if you have already made this video. If yes, could you please share the link to it? I also like the title of the RU-vid channel (Col 1:28), which coincides with the work that you have been doing.

Thank you, unfortunately, I was unemployed when I made these videos and I have not been able to get back to them. I hope to do that in the next year since I have been recently retired.

Good explanation and example. We have unscriptural man-made doctrines embedded within most denominations of the body of Christ that heavily depend on Eisegesis rather than "scripture alone". SOME GREAT RULES OF THUMB ON GOOD EXEGESIS. Yes the spirit may well be speaking to you through some scriptures in regard to personal circumstances and life application, but be careful to NOT make the scripture say what you want it to say. For instance ... I came to see over time as I matured as a Christian, that the unscriptural "Trinity doctrine" embedded within most modern protestant denominations is an inherited Roman Catholic man-made doctrine that would have been completely foreign to the apostles and the Church of the first few centuries. The man-made Trinity doctrine was progressively developed over the 3rd to 6th centuries AD. This is a perfect example of EISEGESIS (reading man-made tradition, creeds and biases back into scripture). There a whole range of others ... "Once Saved Always Saved" ... "Born with a Sin Nature" ... "Women are not to instruct men in the Church" ... "Baby Baptism" ... "Sabbath-keeping for New Covenant Believers". CONTEXT + SCRIPTURE ALONE are primary keys!

So let me see if I get this. Hermanuetics is the method by which we do exegesis?
@rkruisful
@rkruisful Год назад
I think that is a fair statement. It is the tool by which we determine what is meant by the author. In this case, the writers of the Bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

My brother we've gotten so far away from The Teacher & Enabler of The Holy Spirit to the point that it's trouble shooting going on when it comes to God's sacred word. Yes yes so glad I saw your comment

The biblical warrant and written example of hermeneutics is given for us in The Gospel of John. On Three occasions, we are given by divine inspiration. John 1:38 'They said to him Rabbi (which is to say when translated, Teacher) where are you staying. Again, we have John 1:41 'We have found the Messiah which is interpreted (translated) the Christ, And again John 1:42b You shall be called Cephas (which is translated a Stone).

its gud to use exegesis to a certain extent bt this will limit the move of the holyspirit becoz one would rely much on logic than the holyspirit

meditation demands readin slowly attentively repeatedly with the holyspirit..the key is not to finish the bible but its to read with the holyspirit

You're right. While logic is very potent, we're ultimately fallible people. We make mistakes. No amount of scientific inquiry or centuries of research can take away the fact that we make mistakes. And we need God to fill in that gap, prayerfully!

Did the author of Matthew think context is king when he claimed that Jeremiah 31:15 is a prophecy about the slaughter of infants in Bethlehem?

Where does Jesus teach us about hermenuetics? How does this relate to faith? Why do you omit the namesake and his role in interpretation particularly the spirit he represent? What incident caused Paul to tear his garments in disgust? Acts 14.

Bo McDaniel speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. 2 Peter 3:16 NLT

Bo McDaniel God has told us over and over again not to speak things that He didn't say or twist His words. Proper textual interpretation is the power of God and is vital to the Christian and thus brings Jesus maximum glory

Bo, Hermeneutics is just a name to describe rules of interpretation. Jesus never said the word 'Rapture' either but the word describes what he talked about his returning. Now Jesus did use scripture to teach, John 5:46 ""For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me." When he spoke this " “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4, cf. Luke 4:4) Jesus was using scripture of the OT, Deuteronomy 8:3 to show that nothing had changed with his coming to the world as a man. 2 timothy 3:16 speaks about all the Word and how it teaches us "16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,"

Bo McDaniel Hermenuetics was created by Socrates and is a method of reading which engages deep study as well as responsible bible reading and application if done properly. It’s more about being responsible for our own understanding historically to get more pure interpretation of what certain scriptures mean.

@@KaraWoman I think you are confusing hermeneutics with maieutics, that is what Socrates did

No matter how many ways you read the Bible you will never be able to interpret it in the right way. Mainly because the Bible was written by those who have higher levels of consciousness. As such, we only have words to describe what cannot be described in words because a true spiritual awakening is beyond all categories of thought. Since words is all that we have to go by, we must be very careful by the manner in which we use them AS we interpret the Bible. And if we think of the Bible as the word of God then we must ask ourselves what do we mean by God. If we think of God as a supernatural deity outside ourselves, then we are making a categorical mistake because by saying you believe in such a God what you are actually saying is that you BELIEVE in the IDEA that God is a supernatural deity outside yourself who is omniscient, all knowing, and absolute. That is NOT God, it’s nothing more than an IDEA of God and God can never be reduced to an idea. In fact, if you believe in this idea of GOD, you are, in effect, using this idea as an object of idolatry which is a cardinal sin. By doing so, you unwittingly diminish your untapped spiritual potential because all your energies is invested outside yourself in an idea of God that is 100’s of years out of date. It’s time we give up the Christian God that we were born into because it has become a distraction to a greater awareness as to what a spiritual awakening actually is.

So not using the Holy Spirit and reading the Bible isn't enough?
@ProphetPX

it is not ever enough. God does not dwell AS FULLY in people as they might think. YOU NEED to RIGOROUSLY read and study the bible. GOD IS NOT going to do all YOUR OWN WORK, FOR you.
