Beta blockers, including medications such as Propranolol, Nadolol, Sotalol, Metoprolol, Bisoprolol, Labetalol, Atenolol, and Carvedilol, play a crucial role in managing various cardiovascular conditions. However, they can also influence how your body responds to physical activity.

* **Safe Exercise Guidelines**: Discover how to adapt your exercise regimen to not only ensure safety but also maximize the effectiveness of your workouts without compromising your health.
* **Monitoring Your Body’s Response**: I will walk you through the signs to watch for that indicate how well you are adjusting to exercising while on these medications, empowering you to remain vigilant about your body's feedback.
* **Practical Tips for Success**: Receive actionable advice tailored to enhancing your exercise experience, ensuring you remain engaged and motivated in your fitness journey, despite the challenges posed by beta blockers.

I have been taking bisoprolol 5mg for over 5 years after experiencing a heart attack (I am now 27 year old male). The only symptoms I still experience are heart palpitations (PVC's) and occasional chest pain. One thing I recommend is to make sure you perform a sufficient warm up before any form of exercise as this will help get your heart rate into a more stable rhythm (Ex. light jog or walk for 10-15min). Sometimes if I do not warm up enough I will experience palpitations while I exercise. Despite all this I am able to train at a fairly high intensity and even perform heavy weightlifting exercises like bench press and squatting. Just thought I would share this with anyone who may be in a similar situation in terms of exercising with heart issues.

I'm an endurance athlete and was put on Carvedilol because of afib, which caused a blood clot. After an ablation, I was cleared to exercise but had to take Carvedilol for about a year. I absolutely HATED exercising while on Carvedilol. I felt as if I was dragging a ball and chain or two the whole time. Once the Carvedilol was purged from my body, it felt like I had sprouted wings!

That's great. With all new studies ablation seems to be a game changer esp on healthy people with a fib.

Low heart rate is not dangerous unless person is symptomatic or their heart rate is lower because of medications. Having Albuterol may have their own risks and benefits.

No body knows the answer for this. However there are improved patients outcomes with beta blockers after heart disease.

They gave me Bisoprolo after my first Afib , they changed the meds to Digoxin, I did enjoy lots of dancing and exercise , I would like to go back to the gym but I'm finding it difficult to move now, it's worrying , (I have seen a doctor about this & they may change my meds). I've tried increasing gradually but I'm experiencing muscle weakness & very short of breath too quickly... what's the best thing to do please?

Is it safe to take beta blockers life long ( I don't have any heart disease yet, but i have anxiety for a long time) I taking Half of NORTEN 20 Tablet in a Day and it lower my heart rate from 100+ to 60 -90 beat per minute. Is this condition okay. And can i take NORTEN 20 Tablet as beta blocker for life long Please answer doctor 🙏

The goal is to come free of medicine as you are able to manage anxieity with mindfulness techniques like meditation, exercise and other mindfullness techniques. For now, seems like the medicine is helping you and I usually recommend my patients with similar problems to continue and slowly taper off the medicine as they gain control.

I never had a heart problem I take 10mg day and 5mg at night everyday for the last month and half for anxiety would it weaken my heart or damage it? Bc I never had a heart issue though I when standing my heart Is higher then average around 120 walking 140 without propranolol. I am scared it will damage my heart

My General advice: Beta blockers wont damage someone heart. However they can cause side effects such as fatigue, dizziness and therefore risks and benefits of the medication is important to consider.

Sounds like POTS, I have it too and take 10mg propranolol twice a day. We’re actually on a low dose and we’ll be fine. Only problem I have is it lowers my blood pressure to borderline low. Also having pots will not damage the heart, spoke to a cardiologist about it

Hello doctor!! I don't know if I should ask this but i have a running competition and for which I'm unable to complete the run in time as my heart starts pounding so fast ...and I'm left with very little time now and just to improve my run and to lower the heart rate while running can I use these beta blockers before running? Would it help?

@srikanthnithyanandammd
@srikanthnithyanandammd Год назад
@@mumtazmohammed6690 First of all we have to understand what is causing your heart rate to go high. This could be a normal response of your activity. usually as the fitness improves,, heart rate will come down. If you are developing shortness of breath, during running, I would recommend checking with your doctor to make sure you dont have exercise induced asthma. If your heart rate is significantly high during running, you may need further work up to make sure there is no inappropriate heart rate elevation. Would recommend checking with your family doctor to find out what is going on
