The annual Exeter Garden Railway Show took play on Saturday 28th October this year. I was there as part of the G Scale Society and there was lots to see including various large scale trains, miniature engineering, many trade stalls and lots of live steam action!

That's a 'Double Fairlie'. Made for working mountain grades and seen on the Ffestiniog Railway in Wales. Two engines, one crew 😉 Thank you!

Great show!!! Amazed on how some of those tunnels are barely high enough to clear the top of the cars going through.

A great review. I was able to attend last year’s show and this year it looked equally good. Sadly not able to make it this year due to a family holiday. I was able to pick up some good hints and tips as well as ideas for future projects.

So the guy running the mason bogie I'd reckon is Alan cash, a large scale veteran, I picked it from his two mallet builds. These mallets were part of a very formative article on scratchbuilding, I recall it was hosted on MLS at the time.... Nice to see them again 😊

Yes, that’s me and I thought I’d ticked the box for ‘no publicity’ ! Seriously though as Simon said on his commentary I get most of my enjoyment from the modelling and altering things, I don’t run them a lot at home. I have several sections of display which can fit together as one large or two different smaller set ups, either of the smaller ones fits in my car rather than needing to hire a van so I tend to alternate what I bring to the show. The Mallet article was a long time ago now and it didn’t survive the change of ownership at MLS but I do see models pop up on the internet now and then which may have been as a result of my efforts so it was worthwhile.

Well done as usual. It does seem like there is at least double the amount of interest in live steam in England as there is here in the USA. At least based on what I have seen at the various train show videos coming from England

Yeah, British large scale trains seem to be all live steam. You don't really get British "G Scale" steam locomotive models that are electric driven,.... unless it's that one Southern engine that Bachmann (USA) made. Thanks Tim!

Don’t take the plunge into live steam Simon! It’s an addiction!! Lol. Yes, pound for pound live steam is bigger in the UK than in North America. Folks here in Canada love their electric engines, but more and more they are using onboard battery power and RC instead of track power. I also saw an old Bowman on that O gauge Bassett-Lowke layout. All in all it looks like a show I’d LOVE to attend! I attended one last weekend in Laval Quebec and it was mostly O gauge and HO. Rare to see live steam here. Unless you are at my house of course! 😂 Thanks for the great video, as always.

Had an idea while attending a show last weekend. I was looking at those clear plastic display boxes, very expensive. I got to thinking about a pair of aquariums that I'm having trouble selling. They should make nice G scale diorama cases.

Hello, your video made me want to jump on the G scale train. Can you make a video or explain which remote control is compatible with bachmann spectrum G scale for my garden🚂⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hello! It's great to feel you want to do that. Ha! Umm.... remote control. Do you mean with battery power, or power from the track? I have not done either but I may be able to oint you to somebody else. Thanks!

@@ThatBIGTRAINGuy hello, no battery, I'm thinking of running the electricity through the rails. I was recommended a Z21 for train control. unless you advise putting a battery in the train.😉
