During Barbara's recent trip to Scotland, she reflected on the origins of some of Exeter's early families, including the Beans and the Gordons. Did you realize that some of these Scottish men came to Exeter as indentured servants because they were prisoners of war? great job! I am related to henry magoon, I made a trip to Exeter a few years back, and unfortunately, they were closed on a tues, so didn't get much info, so maybe I shall try to contact via web, keep up the good work!

I love this Barbara and watch it over and over! I was so happy to meet you this summer and did finally find the Gordon Hill Cemetery. It was so hot that day and you are right about it being grown up or over grown! The little lady who lives in the house in front helped me around the cemetery looking for Magoon stones. My 8th great grandfather was Henry Magoon. Hope you do make a video clip of the cemetery! Thanks to all of you at the Exeter Historical Society for your devotion and hard work!

Patrick: Although I slurred my words a bit, I am talking about two separate battles - the Battle of Dunbar and the Battle of Worcester. Both of these yielded Scottish prisoners who were sent to America as indentured servants.
