Thanks for the helpful video. Wish you would have shown more about how you actually loosened up the old exhaust to remove it. I've done this job on two bikes and I hate doing it because of that step. I wrestle with these things and think...there must be a better way. Sometimes I give up and it takes days.
Those are the BAM Sticks. This video has the 2.5 louvered. If you go to the link below you will hear some sound clips with each to compare. www.tabperformance.com/Indian-Chieftain-chrome-exhaust-pipe-mufflers-p/211-1291.htm
They are the same size as stock, but I'm not sure but would imagine you could purchase the Hard Bag model exhaust and it should fit up with the factory hard bags on a chief. Might be a good idea to double check with the dealership though.
TAB Performance, Inc. thanks and you’re 100% correct! Dealer guys said when I purchase the exhaust since it should come with the mounting hardware purchase the touring model one (chieftain/road master)
If you can get them started working them on in a circular motion with the help of some WD40 will typically do the trick. If there is a minor burr or something catching you can spread the fingers on the neck a little to give yourself some more play once they get started they should be able to easily walk on to the bike and sit in place. They have to be a tight fit in order to ensure you get a good seal at the joint.
How long can a person ride with these pipes on without reprogramming the ECU immediately? for example if you installed them on Monday but the dealership is booked and won't get to you till the following week ...
Correct, you would want to use a tuner of some kind. I have had customers use the Indian flash with some success or we offer a PVCX that will have maps ready to roll already dyno'd for you.
The torque specs are the same as the original oem specs and locktite is not required but doesn't hurt for extra assurance. As with anything, you will want to check periodically to ensure they bolts stay tight.
The video is the 2.5" louvered baffle and the zombie is the one that is a little more aggressive. You should check out what many folks have to say on www.indianmotorcycles.net the forum has videos of customers who have put our pipes on for the zombie baffle so you can have a nice comparison.
