I was the little girl who mowed a neighbors lawn and took my quarter pay to the L.A. River stables and rented a horse for an hour of joyful dreams of being cowgirl. And now here I am on RU-vid riding on a lakeshore with you-all so many decades later. I feel your joy, freedom of wind on my face and many kindness heart felt expressions that more than mirror my Spirit and definitely enjoying the breezy wind tickling my eyelashes. Thank you for including us on your ride. ❤
You smile a lot Shae, but this smile was a burst of joy from the inside out and beaming. What a wonderful day for both you and Jimminy. That would be like old times when it was just you and he, riding free. Yes, how beautiful and stimulating that must have been. Your students certainly will never forget it. Thank you so much for taking us along too!
What a great day of riding Lake Michigan’s sandy beach shoreline. A rather nice long stretch of a wide beach. I could feel the wind and fresh air. The horses looked really fit, alert and had great stamina. You should be very proud of how vibrant and successful your riding and training programs have been developing in the last five years, Shae!! To see how strong, upright, healthy and happy the riders are along with the horse they bonded with today is inspiring! What a great, beautiful day to remember for everyone! First thing I noticed today, when you were doing the introduction of this video was your new saddle on Jimminy! And then you confirmed what my brain saw. 🥰 I loved watching the cool down walk to the staging area and how content the horses were and the same of your students. The last delightful picture for me, was the last scene with the horses loaded and all their faces poking out the windows looking bright eyed, alert, and happy. I believe they truly loved this healthy, controlled stimulating experience with their human companions. And Vice-versa. 🎼🎶🎶” Oh what a beautiful morning, 🎶 “Oh what a beautiful day “🎶🎶” ❤️🐴🐎🐎🐎❤️
That looks like beyond-beyond fun! Thank you for taking us along. It was cool to see that Kyle was there at the end, making sure you are well escorted. ❤
Wow! That was so fun! I love riding on the beach! Been years which is sad. Beautiful scenery, beautiful horses! It is refreshing to hear gratitude from people who are living their best life doing what they love. Great for you, and thank you for sharing so that those of us who don’t have these opportunities get to live vicariously through you.
Zazu and Arlo's riders looked really calm and collected on the horses. If one day they decide to purchase them, I am all for it. Great people and great horses riding together freely. :)
Oh wow!!! That looked like it was an amazing day, and I loved the shot of all 4 horses sticking their beautiful heads out of the trailer window, so awesome! So glad you all had so much fun.
I first began riding horses at age three. Almost 76 years ago. Had I known then I could ride without a bit, I never would have used a bit. It has to make it so much easier on the horse. I'm glad you're sponsoring these new bitless products. Nice looking and stylish. I prefer Belle in the all black with jewels. Nice job.
When I was younger and my family would vacation on the Oregon coast (where I live now), I would go to the stable where we stayed, rent a horse, and ride the beach every year on the same horse.. It was fabulous & and yes, like you, I would sit up in the saddle arms stretch out loving & living the moment.. Wish I were there. Thank you for taking us along with you. ❤️🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕
I’m all choked up watching you all riding on the beach. It’s a bucket list item for me. Shea, I hope your students realize how truly blessed they are to have that opportunity and to have you as their trainer and friend. ❤
I know nothing about horses. I have never and will never own one. I have been on maybe two rides in my life. I stumbled on your channel and I am hooked. I love to listen to you talk about your horses. I love what you do. I learn so much watching you. I think your horses are beautiful and I love the way that you have with them. ❤I can't wait to see Mushu, Ariel, Ezzy, and Belle grow and learn with you!
Beach riding is so magical❣️ Shae, how wonderful for you, your students and the horses. 😍 I live in So. Florida and went ocean beach riding and the 1st time you stopped to let the horses drink, for a split second it was no! That's salt water; they can't drink that. But then remembered it was lake water. Which is great they can drink it! How did you like your new saddle?! The other magical thing I liked when I had my horse was night riding under a full moon. The moon was so bright it was almost like daylight. Thank you so much for sharing this magical experience with us horse lovers! 🐴💓
It was so nice for me to see Silver lake. I remember reading about it in the Little house on the Prairie series books. I remember the whole family rode horse and wagon across the frozen lake to get to a town nearby, where they could buy supplies. Pa was in a hurry to get back across the lake, because it was early Spring and the lake could begin to thaw and break up at any time. They made it back across the lake and camped there. It wasn't long and they witnessed the ice beginning to break up on Silver lake.
Shae, your beach ride was amazing and so much fun. Thank you for taking your viewers along for the ride! I never knew that they had a special time of the year when equestrians could take their horses to the beach. What a magical experience for riders and horses alike! Shae, you’re the best at all you do and I love, love, love your videos. Keep up the excellent work . Maybe next time Kyle will join in all the fun! ❤😊👏🐴
I used to live less than 10 miles from the shore of Lake Superior, outside of the town of Ironwood. This brought back SO many great memories. The Great Lakes are awesome.
I admire that confidence and assurance that your student horsewomen exude. This must carry over to their daily lives. Your horses performed so masterfully, such a testament to the love and training that they receive at Free Spirit Farm. Bless all of you. (Good job supporting your wife, Kyle)
Yes Shae, exhilarating is the perfect word for beach riding 😁 wow, Lake Michigan must be enormous!!!! You couldn’t even see land on the horizon. We have nothing that comes anywhere near that size in New Zealand. Being a small country does allow us access to both coasts though which are only around a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive from the middle of our islands so we’re very lucky. As a youngster we had holidays at the beach with our horses. You’re right to be proud of your truly reliable horses, they look marvellous. A wonderful video, thankyou. Xx
This video was amazing. The horses are beautiful, and the scenery is amazing. The shots over Jiminy's head with his red-flowing mane are wonderful. You did a masterful job with the music as well.
It felt like I rode Jiminey today. My favorite. Thank you so much for taking us along. You are blessed and are passing your blessings on to others. Just hugs and kisses to you girly girl!
OMG...what a beautiful ride!! I love seeing the horses moving in the wind and water. I must admit, I also love seeing my bias Gaston! It cracks me up how he always "paws" the water! What a silly guy! Thanks for sharing this video!
This looks amazing! Lovely to see the horses having as much fun as the people ❤I wouldn't have survived this without going for a dip, my pony loves to roll in water 😂
What a wonderful day for you all and the horses! Life is all about making beautiful memories and living life to its fullest. Your videos never disappoint. ❤
Shae, What a magical day!! Riding a horse on the beach is number one on my bucket list. I love watching Jafar play in the water. He always likes kicking water. Watching Zazu run next to the other horses I could see his gate better. I’ve read up on gated horses, but to see it is incredible. I’m so glad you had so much fun. I was grinning from ear to ear through the whole video. 💛🧡
Shae, I could feel your exhilaration as you rode on the beach on Jiminy. You and your students appeared to be having a blast! I must admit, I had no idea the Great Lakes are freshwater. All these years I thought they were saltwater. You all had great weather for your ride, and all four horses did so well! Thanks for taking us along, and giving us your viewpoint aboard Jiminy. It was almost like riding ourselves.
@@cattymajiv, thanks for your reply. There are actually a number of saltwater lakes in the world. Just to name a few, the Great Salt Lake in Utah, Mono Lake and the Salton Sea in California, the Dead Sea, and even the Caspian Sea (which is really a lake) are saltwater, so it is possible for lakes to be saltwater. The Great Lakes flow into the St. Lawrence Seaway, which is a series of locks, channels, and canals that connects into the St. Lawrence River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. That way ships are able to enter and exit the Great Lakes. It's another reason why I thought the Great Lakes were saltwater. I am happy to find out that the Great Lakes are freshwater, it's just something I didn't know before.
👏👏👏beautiful footage, I especially enjoyed the lovely contrast between you guys, the horses, sand and truly spectacular Variety of colors with the Autumn leaves. You have nurtured, trained & lovingly created a special group : horses, students, husband 😂 & enrichment for everyone. Great job girlfriend 👏👏👏🫶🏻🫶🏻 wishing you an abundant amount of grace & success 🤗
That was awesome! You are such a well rounded teacher, I really admire that. I'm sure your students love you very much. The truth is in the results, I give you an A++
It would be a dream come true for this 73 year old woman too! Due to various circumstances beyond my control, I haven't been on a horse in probably 45+ years. Watching you ride so easily just makes me want to get back in the saddle again! I don't know if I could even get on a horse anymore much less stay on.
@@nancysouder5111Poor u im sorry to hear that miss. I user to follow lesson and i found it super fun!. But my mom eventually made me quit so it makes me really sad to see poeple having fun riding horses sometimes because i couldnt not follow my dream :( .
Been a long time since I've ridden a horse and even longer since I've ridden one on the beach....A truly exhilarating experience!...it looks so much fun...Thank you for once again taking us along for the ride...🐎
That water must be freezing cold! 🥶 Even in the summer lake Michigan is still too cold to swim in. 🏊♀️ That is a beautiful stretch of beach though The horses look so pretty with the sand backdrop. ❤❤❤❤
Believe it or not, people swim in Lake Superior in the summer. That’s several hundred miles north of this part of Lake Michigan. After a few months of summer temperatures, the Great Lakes are definitely warm enough to swim in. Everybody’s swimming temperature preference differs, of course.
@@ronsamborski6230 Lake michigan was always too cold for me since i was a kid. Recently tried a beach in the middle of july and it felt like 50°. Since im in WI it may a little chillier than the other side.
@@cattymajiv I concur with Jagger! But also remember Roger Daltrey singing “I hope I die before I get old.” I’m happy being old because it’s better being old than dying! Best wishes to all! 😃
The best time to swim in Lake Michigan is late summer/early fall, on a day when the air is cool (say, 67 F). The lake has had all summer to warm up pretty thoroughly. As long as the water is SLIGHTLY warmer than the air, you’re good to go. You just need a terry cloth robe or big towel afterwards until you can remove your clammy suit and get into your clothes. Lived in Glenview and Barrington, last time I hit the beach was maybe 1967….
Jiminy is so conscious of the camera he looks directly at it and perks his face and ears for his photo op! Amazingly smart and very photogenic horse. Having ridden on that beach I remembered and was right there with you. I rode an Appaloosa and my friend rode a Tennessee Walker. It was a blast. The only down side was getting as much of the sand off of the horses as possible before trailering up. Your horses and students were so impressive! Or did you hire movie stunt women to do the fancy riding? No stunt horses though-----just very fit, well fitted out and trained handsome horses. What fun!
This took me back to my childhood adventure trail riding. There was nothing like riding through the woods with all the fall foliage. Never got to ride on a beach but I did ride through a lot of snow drifts on my Morgan. He was like a snow plow.
Thank you for allowing this old lady, too broken down to have a horse anymore, to live vicariously through you. Your videos perk up my spirit. I’m dying to know; how did the Rhonda saddle work out for you? Any sore spots on you or Jiminy, or was it comfy, comfy? The best view of the world, is through the ears of a horse.
@@cattymajiv we’re born with the “I am obsessed with horses” virus. I’ve owned 3 of them. My last one was my pride and joy, but for my health reasons, I had to find him a new home. I will never lose my love for them, and I have found a home for my passion at Free Spirit.
Absolutely magical, I got so excited watching the video! Thank you so much for taking us along 😊 The best experience in water I had was many years back. I rode a powerful white Andalusian gelding. We rode inside a big lake in Germany. There is one part that’s quite shallow for a long time. So we could ride into the lake quite far. We stood inside the lake and watched the sunset. To this day I still remember this experience vividly, it was so precious. All of your horses are so well behaved, perfect testament of a great training!
I have to correct myself. It was Frozen Lake Pepin, which receives water from the Mississippi River. I was confused because of one of her books called, by the Shores of Silver Lake.
I live right on the south coast so was lucky to ride on the beach a lot as a kid, it really is an amazing experience. I cracked up at them all sticking their faces out the windows at the end 😆 😆
This reminded me of when I had my first horse, Blanco, stabled in Ventura California, and would ride on the beach. thank you for the memories, it looked like a blast for you all.
Y'all really enjoyed yourself, it was fantastic to watch have so much fun in the water. I have always wanted to ride along the beach line it just seems the cherry on the cake. Really enjoyed this so much, very thankful you made this video to share with us. Kyle takes such great videos & editing too, what a perfect day for y'all glad all went perfect ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Wonderful. Growing up in FL I grew up on a spring fed lake. All my horses loved going into the lake and swimming. They were a little more cautious when at the beach but they still loved running down the shoreline! One of my horses would walk around a puddle but when at the lake…I’m in! Ha ha ha 😊
You DO have the best life. I've always wanted to get a horse as an adult but have never been able to afford it. Had a appy mare as a teen. Would trail ride for hours & swim her in the lake, did 4-H. I love your channel, & would do all the things you love doing with your horses. I did a trail ride 3 times over the 40 years. But that's not enough. Thanks for sharing!!!
