The line in the song, "like you're just his understudy"...wow, how true. Step by step, she knows him line by line. She knows him so well. Helen is beautiful, and she would go to great lengths for Max. Dr's Cassian and Akash both tried to capture her heart, but everything she did, she did for Max. Her boyfriend Akash sensed the vibe between Helen and Max, but she kept denying it until she couldn't anymore. Even when she tried to circumvent it, Akash said, "this is about Max", and she said, "yes, it is", Akash knew at that moment that Max had her heart, and that is why he simply turned and walked away. It is my personal opinion that Helen was right to triage her relationship with Max; he is incapable of choosing, so she had to choose for them. She had to STOP being "his doctor", or "his friend", or "his deputy medical director", or "his confidant" or else lose herself completely. Choosing to stop being his doctor was the wisest choice because as his doctor, she would still be to some degree his confidant. By refusing to be his doctor, meant she would also no longer be his confidant to a certain extent. Finally, I get why she stayed in London the second time around. She would always be his "understudy", and not fully his partner, his wife, etc. He could not convince her otherwise, at least not at this juncture in their relationship and career. When she's with Max, she somehow loses who she really is, and her life tends to mirror his. That's what an understudy does; she or he mirrors the lead in everyway. Wow, this really was good chemistry coupled with good writing. If Freema wasn't leaving the show, they may have become a family or not. Even with Georgia gone, Helen would always be wondering if Max really sees her. Georgia became invisible to him after awhile. There was always the question in the back of their minds: does Max see them. Is Max's love an all-consuming love. I think he was beginning to realize the goldmine he had in Helen; she could relate to him on a deeper level, but his inability to choose caused a divide in their relationship that he so desperately was trying to fix, but couldn't. Love this beautiful couple! They top every other couple on daytime/nightime drama, and I am a huge fan of April and Ethan on Chicago Med, but they don't come close to Helen and Max. 🕊❤️🕊❤️.
