Xiumin is a Korean member - real name Kim Min Seok. He, Suho and D.O are in military enl now. Only one Chinese member is Lay. He is now in China. Ex members Kris, Luhan, Tao were in Exo (Chinese members) Chen is a daddy now, he has a cutie daughter) Also Kai, Jimin, Taemin(Shinee) are friends. Yes they come back to the group after military service.

So far the plan is that they will reunite post military enlistment... Several groups reunite once they are finished with their service, for example Super Junior is one of the more recent ones. Each member (except for Lay) must serve 18-20 months depending on the branch they serve in. Actually Xiumin and D.O. will be released from their service around the end of this year.

The south korea military service lasts two years or a year and a half, if the members have contracts they have to return to their group, kyungsoo and minseok will return when they finish their service as well as when the others leave:").

Xiumins release date is this December and D.O. in January. Yes, they will return to the group, but probably they will concentrate on the solo debuts, until the return of all the members.

This year, EXO is on Hiatus/ they are not active as a group due to some members who had to go for mandatory military service. That is why, the members who are available are concentrating on producing singles like baekhyun and sub unit music like EXO_SC by Sehun and Chanyeol. 😊

I'm sorry but you claim to be a fan and yet almost all your information is wrong which you sadly have passed on the incorrect info to your friends. Maybe you can do some research before you continue? EXO's songs are all in Chinese and Korean. Chen and Xiumin were the KOREAN members in EXO-M. They were given names that sounded Chinese to fit in better with EXO-M. Lay is the only Chinese member left. Lay can't participate with EXO because there is political tension between China and Korea. The other 3 Chinese members sued and left EXO. Kris was the first, then Luhan and finally Tao. All three lost their cases against SM Entertainment. The three Chinese former members are actors and soloists now. Military service is mandatory for all men before the age of 28. They serve approximately 18 months. Almost ALL idols come back to their respective groups after serving. Groups tend to stagger their member's enlistment so that the group is still around and relevant. This is the time individual members start concentrating on solo careers until everyone is back. As a Shinee fan, you should know that when all the older members went into the military, Taemin concentrated on his solo stuff. Now that Shinee is back, they'll start performing together again until it's time for Taemin to enlist. EXO is not a male SNSD. ZThat would probably be Super Junior. SuJu and Shinee were like the older brothers and mentors to EXO. These are just a few of the facts you got incorrectly and passed on to your friends.

Enlisting military is a mandatory in South Korea for male age 20-30. There are several exemption, if they are not eligible to serve in military, they will service as public service worker. They will serve their country for around 18-21 months, each unit has different time. So after completed their military service, everyone will come back to their daily lives (college, work).

Some updates and answers to questions they had: Chen is now married with a child! Also Xiumin, Suho, and D.O are currently in the military. They enlist for a little less than 2 years and after that they will have to go back occasionally for shorter period for retraining. A lot members actually continue to perform as a group after enlistment if they make it that far. One of the things is that many groups don’t often last (either not renewing their contracts or disbanding) until they get to 30 which is the max age you can put off going to the military. Another is that not many groups will still hold enough fame/influence to continue promoting afterwards. The ones I know off the top of my head are Super Junior and TVXQ (both from SM ent.) SJ had 12 members who all went to the military and came back sure they’ve lost a few members along the way since they’re on the older side (debut 2005) but they have all gone to the military and come back and promote as a 9-member group. The first member enlisted in 2010 and the last member was recently released in May 2019 and all of them are now well into their 30’s. They continued as a modified group releasing albums without some members. They’re latest comeback was late last year! The same goes for TVXQ granted they only have 2 members so they went at the same time and was inactive for the 2-ish years and then came back in 2018. They all have successful solo careers as entertainers, actors, soloists, choreographers, philanthropists, etc but still make albums and have concerts! Latest Comebacks: Lay- Lit Exo SC-1 billion views Baekhyun-Candy Kai is set to have a solo album soon Check out their solo albums and collaborations please! Some more info on KrisLuTao Kris was the first to leave them Luhan then Tao. They all filed lawsuits against SM entertainment on grounds of mistreatment since they either were not given enough musical liberty or were overworked despite injuries and illnesses. They all still have music careers and have acting careers now too.

actually tao was the last one to leave.. and all three of the ex members are very successful music artists and actors in china. and yes members will come back after military. there are many groups who are still continuing after military service. for example, all of super junior's members have completed theirs and they are now back together.

The enlisted members do comeback and sehun said that for 9 years they never had a single proper break and they keep on working so now this is the time when each member is relaxing from u know the idol life(as we all know all the time being followed by reporters or being watched is too much ) I think one benefit of military survice to idols is that ,that they can be themselves like it's okay to not diet it's okay to not wear proper cloths and for two years they don't exactly have media or people criticizing them so it's kind of break for them and they can be fresh after that...one of the example that came back is super junior yeah it's a stressful thing for groups that r not well established but sometimes Iu need break from glamour too

Yes, they do come back after their military service (which is around 18 months). Right now, three members have enlisted (Xiumin, DO and Suho), that's why we are all waiting for 2025 when all of them will finish their military service and have a group comeback. :) In Obsession era, you will notice there are only 6 members because Xiumin and DO was in the military, and Lay is in China (due to political differences between Korea and China so there were restrictions). This year, Suho enlisted after releasing his solo album while Xiumin and DO will come back early 2021. Actually we want for them to just enlist altogether so they will also come back together lol While other members are in military, the remaining members are producing solo albums or subunit debuts because they are versatile like that. :)

typically members that enlist in the military go back to their groups... fans wait for them to come back. While other members are in the military, the members left, promote and usually do solos and when the members in the military come back, they promote again together and when its time for the other members to enlist, the one who finished military do solos or do activities and wait til everyone's done with military. There is this group Super Junior... they also have a lot of members and all of them now are done with military and are still active idol group.
