Agree! That was my favorite Cloud 9 performance. And I'm not sure if true but some if not all the choreo parts were made by Sehun. 🤭

So, regarding the controversy so to speak, I'm fairly sure that in the actual song itself both Kyungsoo AND Baekhyun have adlibs and during the stream there was just a specific part of the song where Kyungsoo's adlibs were mistakenly labelled as Baekhyun's but that wasn't to say that he didn't have any adlibs at all. And then in this performance, Chen was the only one to really do any adlibs throughout. (I'm using the term 'adlib' to refer to when someone is singing extra parts - often repeated lyrics or not actual words - over the top of someone else singing the main melodic line or beat, rather than the 📈📉📈📈📉parts because those are just runs and though frequently used in adlibs, can be used just as much in the main melody).

The comment section is being confusing but in this video Baek didn't do the runs that he does in the studio version. I think people are talking about two different parts in the comment section because the part Baekhyun usually does the runs is not the part that skipped in this and I think that is what is confusing people. Baekhyun does go off with adlibs in this song and he even does a high pitch and goes on more runs. I also don't think people should put too much stock into live versions because they can differ from studio versions 😵‍💫

Simon, I don’t know what you mean about Kyungsoo didnt sing any adlibs and Baekhyun did. Technically, they both just sang their regular lines with riffs and runs, as they do in the studio version. Neither of them really do any adlibs here. If anything, it’s Chen that does majority of the background ad libs on this track. But Alex is 100% correct just use your damn ears and eyes - the part he is talking about that was incorrect in the lyric video is clearly Kyungsoo after Suho sings… and yes it’s the part that conveniently skips in this video 😂 you should have watched the Japan video theyre always better quality

If we are splitting hairs people, ad libs in performances technically refer to the stuff singers do that are actually spontaneous (or made to seem spontaneous), hence the term ad lib - making it up without prior preparation. But in most cases it refers to the stuff singers do that are not part of the verse/chorus/harmonies like just some oohs and ahhs or echoing a few words of the song but sung completely differently from anything else in the song. In this case, actually only Chen really did most of the ad libs in Cloud 9. What Baekhyun and Kyungsoo did here are singing their regular lines from the verses and chorus but with riffs/runs (as they do in studio version of the song as well). A riff is more like a repeated sound not necessarily that attention grabbing, think of it like a guitar riff. A run is a quick succession of notes and is designed to really grab the attention of the listener. Both Baekhyun and Kyungsoo do that here.

See it depends on what all content is considered here for the percentage. And if the sub unit, collabs, and solo stuff are counted. If purely group stuff then like 32% (there is a lot of sort of variety stuff and ads), if it includes solos and stuff too then maybe more like 14% I would say 😂😂

Apologies if it gets a bit annoying when we kyungsoo fans get defensive about his parts in exo songs. Since exact his lines have been getting shorter and shorter to the point that they're mostly adlibs in some (we still have hear me out trauma, he got like 3 secs in that song). So whatever lines and adlibs he gets, we hold onto them tight 😅 Anyway, alex was right. There indeed was a mistake in the lyric video. Kyungsoo did do the same part as baekhyun the second time. Side note: the studio versions and live versions do not always match. In black pearl it's ksoo that does the last run in the studio version but bh and chen who do it in the live. There are also some livestages of Wolf where ksoo does Chen's high notes in the end. So don't take them as 100% proof

Nobody is saying Baekhyun did Kyungsoo'd adlibs though except maybe the person who got the color coded wrong. During the livestream, Simon stopped the song and made a comment about a section where Baekhyun is going on and on with a set of adlibs. That was definitely Baekhyun doing those but then the color coded video showed a part where Kyungsoo is doing them but Baekhyun is highlighted and that's when Alex said that was Kyungsoo but I think some people thought he was talking about the adlibs that Simon commented on about Baekhyun and then that set off a bunch of confusion when actually nobody is wrong because there's two parts being confused. Baekhyun wasn't highlighted in that color coded video during the adlibs in question as he was just in the background doing them while another member was singing the lyrics. All of that to say everyone is correct because there's two parts being confused

Like what i mentioned on the live stream, this is one of the other songs EXO has been avoiding performing live because it's taxing. The choreo had floor works and so much body rolls 😂 + riffs, runs, adlibs and a lot of quick vocal register switches. They did a bit more performing this live in Exordium with the full on choreo, but not a lot of adlibs compared to how it's originally recorded in the studio version. But they def went "chill" here in Elyxion. Just try watching other lyric videos or line distribution videos of this song if you don't agree. All i'm saying is, I know Penguin's voice 😌

Yeah but I think you've confused the situation because what I've gathered is now people are talking about two different parts and thinking Baekhyun doing that long run of adlibs is what you meant but if you watch the performance with the pink shirts, Baekhyun is doing the first set of long adlibs/runs while Kyungsoo is singing

Just to be absolutely completely transparent... we know what Alex was talking about, and he was right. My dry humour in this video isn't meant to be taken as anything other than a joke. I'm sorry that it hasn't landed as well as I'd intended, but please don't be confused about what we were saying
