I love your love for Sehun 😂 He IS cool. So effortlessly cool. He can make anything look and sound cool… Kai once said Sehun works very hard to make it look like he doesn’t work hard at all 😅 and I think that’s why a lot of people tend to overlook Sehun when first getting to know Exo, especially as in older songs he has very limited lines. Sehun makes difficult stuff look easy and effortless, but in reality he is such an incredible technical skills and natural charisma as a rapper, dancer and live performer… and over the years really developed into a great vocalist… if you decide to check out k-dramas his most recent drama also showcases his insane acting talent… really appreciate that you picked Sehun as a bias from the get go 😊 PS now you know you’re just barely scratching the surface with Exo… just insane amount of amazing music, visuals, genres, talent, craaaaaaazy

i always love when new EXO-L discover Obsession, it was a life changing moment for me

Obsession MV tells the story of the fight between EXO (good) and X-EXO (their evil and sinister halves). The song focuses on wanting to get away from the negativity and toxic obsession that causing pain and stress.

YOU SHOULD HEAR THEM SING THIS LIVE. I RECOMMEND THE STAGE MIX OF OBSESSION 😭

The live stages of this song are a must see, so spectacular ! They did two versions in accordance with the concept. EXO and X-EXO stages, the mix stage is also very cinematic.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, Chen uses his ability to control electricity (because he has the power of thunder and lightning) to manipulate something to do with the TVs that are playing behind him and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end you see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. You see Chen playing "chess" with his alter ego clone. He is currently in a battle of strategy and intelligence, etc. with his evil self. Each member is shown fighting their own battle with their clone. On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it is talking about Obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you look at the song and delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love and compassion and respect, etc. In the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because this MV came out in 2019, so D.O. and Xiumin are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay was unable to participate in activities with the group. Fun fact: Although Kai has made crop tops famous and was one of the first male idols to wear them, he actually doesn't LOVE to be shirtless as much as people might think. Kai is often shirtless because he is known for his abs and it's become part of his brand. These days it is almost expected of him that he will show off his abs. It has even, as you can see, sort of became part of EXO's storyline. He has literally been on a strict diet and workout regimen for most of his career in order to maintain his abs. If you check out an episode of "I live Alone" where Kai was on the show, he shows off his super chic condo and talks a little about his diet. However, in an episode of the variety show Knowing Bros. he talked about how on stage he doesn't mind being shirtless because it is part of the character he embodies, but the minute he steps off stage he becomes extremely self-conscious. During "Tempo" and "Obsession" era when he was wearing crop tops all over the place to perform during music shows and events, etc. he said it caused him to have really bad posture, because the minute he stepped off stage he would slouch to try and cover his stomach. Even though he knows he looks good, as you have seen, Kim JongIn (Kai is his stage name) is really shy, so I think if it hadn't become such a big part of who he is as an idol and model, he probably wouldn't be shirtless very often. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. And we now think it is linked to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV, where we see a meteor on a collision course for Earth and EXO are trying to figure out how to prevent it from destroying the world. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those all-black outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs, which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. Thanks for your reaction! FYI, Chen was playing chess with his bad self. All of them are fighting with their alter egos or their inner self. In this one, they focused on more on their inner fight than their superpowers. They have their own individual fights. If you watch it more than once, it'll be clear. After Red Force corrupted one/more of them, they are compelled to act as Red force agents and so forth.. Please watch rest of the episodes of concept guide and it'll make much more senses.

Obsession is that track... FIYAH! The teaser pictures alone had people hyperventilating. This was a comeback that I wished every member was present, to see their clones. This song and the whole Obsession album is amazing. I think it's also ok to just watch some more of their MVs and lives before going back to the concept guide. I think taking in the music and the visuals when watching a MV for the first time is nice (without having to think too much). There are so many good songs and MVs - Growl, Overdose, Call Me Baby, Ko Ko Bop, Love Me Right,... And for the lives - similarly to how you watched the Mama-Monster-Wolf medley, there are some other great ones like Diamond-Coming Over-Run This-Drop That-Power and Call Me Baby-Touch It-Chill from their concerts. And then of course there's El Dorado live. But however you want to experience EXO, they won't disappoint!

The most accurate theory of this MV is that they fighting their counterpart/clone that stole their powers and Chen and X-Chen (his clone) are “playing chess” but in reality they are controlling how the battle between his teammates and clones goes, hence the cameras that shows us all of the locations where all the real EXO IS FIGHTING (the real EXO were experimented on LUCKY ONE MV) and in TEMPO MV we see a cube with hands on there (the real EXO was locked there, that’s why we see them except for KyungSoo glitching (their clones are not a exact copy hence the color change in ChanYeol eyes in tempo that were blue (an error) and now are black (he perfected his image to look similar to real ChanYeol). Somehow KyungSoo’s clone is on an unknown location or is ded (Real KyungSoo took his place and that’s how the rest of EXO got FREE at the end in TEMPO). But yeah, is a bit complicated because we even had SuHo not glitching that much in Tempo MV but then we saw him in Obsession suspended in the air as if he was sleeping or knock out.

For the next stop on your “what the heck with the genre swap?” journey, let me recommend Kokobop. Very strong powers references plus you’ll get to see Baekhyun’s infamous mullet in all its glory. (I personally ❤ the mullet but haters gonna hate.)

Actually, there's another theory that Obsession can also happen after exo got to the earth. The theory was that this happened after Monster/Lucky One/Lotto/Power timeline because in these timeline EXO were caught by Red Force and used as lab rats, and their power were stolen by Red Force. And Red Force managed to create an evil clone of them from the stolen powers. You can see earth burning at the end of the mv too.

can you react to taemin gulty he is one of the three king's of kpop and the idol of idols and the ace of kpop. He is also the best dancer in kpop which is popular opinion from everybody in the kpop fandom. he just made his solo comeback after being in the military. Taemin debuted at 14 with shinee in 2008 and had started the trends of flower boys good at dancing and has inspired many dancers like kai from exo or jimin from bts or haechan from nct or ten from wayv for exemple. Taemin is really the original icon and idol of idols.

I remember watching the MV for the first time, it was also my first EXO comeback witnessed in real time, I was so shocked and overwhelmed that I couldn't move, I left the headphones on the couch and I tried to analyse what I saw : pure chaos 😅 Another interesting theorie : this comeback happened on 27. November 2019 and at the end of the MV you see the Earth slowly burning, well, they somehow predicted the pandemic 🤤 Another fun fact: XIUMIN loves Obsession concept , he shared a teaser image on his IG while he was in the military, he was so upset that he couldn't take part to this amazing comeback that he learned the choreography and performed the song at his mini solo concert after he was discharged 😊
