EXO's KAI - Film : Kai - UK K-Pop Fans Reaction 

I saw him perform Reason in London a few years ago and he danced so hard that he ripped a hole into the crotch of his trousers! He had to go backstage and change 😂 he is well known for dancing too hard and damaging his stage clothes 😭💕 I love Nini so much!

Kai is an art. His debut album is a masterpiece and I was absolutely mesmerized by FILM: KAI. I watched it a countless times and it still slaps me every single time

Thank you, guys, for the reaction to this masterpiece! Kai was the first ever in kpop and maybe second in the world to introduce this type of films to tease the album, on such a grand scale, with separate stories and sets and choreos... Nobody does it like him. Kai actually put his own money into his solo debut, so you can see how much bigger the budget is for his MV and Film, what SMEnt had allocated wasn't enough to express all his ideas and it's the first thing Kai seeks in his craft - self expression. Gucci gave Kai the wardrobe and even sent food catering service to the filming sets to pamper their favorite boy. Actually the stories have a common line: the whole film is Kai's story and at the same time the cycle he goes through before each performance: first he's alone, practicing, contemplating, doubting his talent; then he performs in public but nobody pays attention and so on. It all ends with Kai on stage performing in the center with 8 other men surrounding him (as he's the Center of the group). Kai's a natural baritone but he's trained to sing as a tenor as kpop favors tenors only, baritones are rappers... And it's so sad, when Kai sings in his natural register it's so strong and deep, his voice would sound much more powerful if he sang with his real voice.

Reason only has a dance practice, a great one by the way. I wanted to recommend it last time but for some reason I thought you'd already seen it 🐸

Kai is in fact a baritone, alongside Chanyeol and Sehun. The rest of exo are tenors. Altos apply to women only, it’s the lower voice type for women and therefore higher than a tenor. 8:39 there’s a dance practice!! 13:28 I was never the same after this

Kai's creativity is one of my favorite things about him. Probably because of his father, he views everything in an artist bent.

Kai's "Film: Kai," as you discovered, is a sort of teaser/sample of all the songs on Kai's solo self-titled debut album Kai, which came out at the end of 2020. Fun fact: Highlight medleys for SM artist's solo albums first became a thing with SHINee member Taemin's "Press It highlight melody" video in 2016, which was a video showing Taemin performing a snippet of every song on his Press It album. (Like everything SHINee does, Taemin was the first to promote his album giving people a sample of every song on the album, kicking off a trend.) You could also say it's similar to NCT's track videos that they have been releasing with their albums more recently. Kai had a hand in writing and composing all of these songs and he spent more than a year working on the album, which he did all while also promoting nonstop as a member of EXO and SuperM. He actually put his own money into this project to increase the budget in order to make sure the quality met his expectations. The mini album contains 6 tracks and, as you just heard, each song is expertly designed to reflect Kai's style as an artist. As you have seen, there is only an MV for "Mmmh," the rest of these songs are B-side tracks so they don't have MVs. That is why you don't see any performance for "Mmmh" because they want you to watch the MV. If you want to see and hear the full versions of some of these other songs, you should look up some of his live performances. As part of his promotions for his album he has also performed several of these songs, such as "Mmmh", "Reason" and "Ride or Die," live. Plus, he also has dance practice videos for "Reason" and "Mmmh". Yet again, what you see in some of the scenes in this video, is Kai teleporting. If you analyze all the scenes within Kai's film you would find connections can be made to EXO's storyline and things to do with past EXO MVs and probably even future MVs, as well as SuperM's storyline. For example, the scenes during Kai's "Amnesia" snippet and as it transitions to "Mmmh" are probably part of SM's train theme, which connects a majority of its artists to the whole SM Universe. The train we see Kai standing in front of could possibly be the train that Baekhyun is on in his solo "Bambi" MV. And the subway train platform we see during "Mmmh" could be connected to SuperM's "100" MV storyline, SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV storyline, aespa's "Black Mamba" MV storyline and SHINee Key's solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV storyline, as well as EXO's "Love Me Right" MV storyline and EXO-CBX's "Horololo" MV storyline, etc. Plus, as mentioned before, as part of EXO's story, it is thought that the members are traveling between dimensions and time periods throughout history in their quest to find the Tree of Life and to fix all the evil and corruption that is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, similar to his "Mmmh" MV, it is thought that what you see in this video is Kai traveling between dimensions and across time periods in his search for the other members and the Tree of Life, etc. That is why you see him in so many different locations and scenes in this film. There is also a fan theory that the reason why we see Kai with so many different looks and styles in these scenes is because it's not always Kai that we are seeing. As you may remember, another part of EXO's storyline is that some of the members have evil alter ego clones that have been created by the Red Force, which were introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV. So, some theories think that sometimes we are seeing Kai's evil X-EXO clone and other times we are seeing superhero, good EXO Kai. Also notice how the lights during "Ride or Die" made EXO's Hexagon symbol.

Kai played a huge part in every aspect of this album and it really shines through. And yes his albums have no skips, it’s amazing! His rover album has a film as well that you should definitely check out! ❤ And here you go 🐸

I’ve seen the Monalisa in the Louvre. Film: Kai belongs right next to it. This whole album is great. Reason has a live performance video on NOW, and he performed it in his online concert (pandemic era) and also in festivals. There is a dance practice, the choreo is sick! He has a lot of behind the scenes content for this album where you can see how much he is involved in it. He really has such a great sense of fashion. He was not satisfied with the budget from SM and he really wanted his vision to come to life, so he put his own money into this. Kai is art 🖼️

This is my favorite of Kai’s albums. Amnesia is my favorite track. I can’t even guess how many times I’ve listened to it, or the whole album for that matter. Or watched this video. A few notes/observations by track: The Kai projected onto the smoke in the first song (Hello Stranger) is the Kai from the last song (Ride or Die). The woman dancing in Reason is the choreographer Bada Lee, who works with Kai often (and is my female bias in kpop even though she’s not an idol). I think at least part of Mmmh is in Berlin. In Nothing on Me, you can see the woman at a distance in the two tilted ‘mirrors’ at the very beginning. And last but not least, it is a crime that there’s not a full performance video for Ride or Die.

This performance film is the height of his artistry, performance and musicality! I feel enamoured every time I watch it ❤ I can watch it on loop forever!

Kai IS art! His Films are just beautiful - the dance, the fashion, the videography, the music & Kai himself. He also has one for the Rover album too. Personally I think this is still my favourite album (although I adore the whole Peaches album too) & Reason probably is my fav track, which also has a great dance practice too. 🐸🐸🐸 we are along for all the chaos 😅

May God do you as He knows. As a vocal range, soprano and alto refer to high and low voices for women. Baritone is used for the low male voice and tenor is used for the high male voice. Exo is a vocal group, so it is a group with a tenor voice. However, since their vocal range is generally wide, they also use romantic baritone voices. This means mid range. Although Chanyeol and Sehun, who rap, use baritone voices more, they can also reflect treble voices quite well. This means our Kai is a romantic baritone close to a little tenor. (He's at his most tenor when he's laughing, hahaha. Moreover, he can start laughing from a baritone range to tenor or even soprano, which is the female voice range. Oh my source of joy.) Also, behind the scenes of Film Kai, during the shooting of Nothing On Me, they placed a huge mirror in a vacant land.

😂If I had a dollar everytime y'all got distracted while commenting, I would be able to afford the plane ticket to S Korea and also be able to pay for my hotel as well as food and entertainment while there. Lol😂 Ialready liked Kai's dance and vocals, but this made me fall in love even more. To answer your question about the mirror portion it is green screen. He filmed on set with the dancer and they just added the mirror effect later in post.
