Great to see you back Joey, the exo stand looks fantastic, reminds me of the look of some of the furniture from the 60s/70s, you have really made a conversation piece there, thank you for sharing.
@@Gethin_Duggan Not sure, but getting in from a looong night shift and finding a long awaited Kingpost Video I guess excitement and tiredness collaborated and fried a few more brain cells, thanks for the heads up, glad one of us is functioning :)
Just came back to this video and it is a favorite of mine. Love everything about this project! The concept, the experimental, character of the build, the build-as-you-go approach, the feel of being in a real, professional workshop, the use of materials already at hand, the way you take us all along in the process. Enjoyed the ride👍
You're quite right! That's a lovely feature on the cube joints. I like the concept and can only aspire to that level of execution. Good to see a video from you again!
Bit late to the show but this was a great video. I really like the design which has a bit of the timeless midcentury feel to it yet modern and it was very enjoyable to watch with what seemed much of a "design as you go" approach.
That bridle joint pinned with the through mortise will be a strong joint, lovely work. Still gives me great joy to admire your 3way mitre on the piece i have.
Congratulation's on the design and build Joey, I really hope you will continue with the design and see where it takes you, you are already at (all the hipster's will buy it), now shoot for the 1% er's no scrap pcs. ☠️ 😉.
I'd love to see another one of these where each drawer comes out of a different face. Or a drawer can slide out front/back with a hinged lid on each side. I'd make it myself, but I feel off taking someone else's design when it's this unique! Great work and really appreciate the video walk through.
Awesome design Joey, was very interested to see this in action after you described it on Shop Stool. I know you wanted it 100% native but the contrasting wood looks super cool.
Really glad to see you back, I enjoy watching your thought process as you progress. Hope to see more projects and videos. Nice pants as well, where may I find some such as that?
I like the design and your execution is, as always, flawless. I also appreciate that you leave in your mistakes and show how you overcome them. I would be interested in seeing a follow-up video that covers how well those drawer rails perform as the temperature and humidity change. I've done drawers similar to those, and while I like the simple approach, they can be frustrating when the wood moves... then again, I live in Virginia, in the US, so humidity is a fact of life, much like a rusty table saw bed.
During the description of what will be taking place, I was against it, but by the end of the video, I fell in love with it. It's beautiful brutalism. It's clever and unique, regardless of it's popularity.
Nice! Now I'm wondering whether there's a way to include wooden full extension drawer slides, John Heisz style, so that there's less strain when the drawers are open. It's extra tricky because of the way you can lift a drawer out of one end and put it back in the other.
