I get this question a lot! is it better to start from scratch and redo all your records or is it better to use an existing denture as a starting point? Honestly, most of the time the existing denture is quite frankly terrible it often has worn out flat teeth. The midline's are off, the incisal edge positions wrong, the occlusion is bad. So it might be tempting to start all over. However, I would suggest that you use that denture, not as a copy denture, but as a way to make a custom tray, impression and bite record. I use light body PVS to reline the denture. I then adjust the bite and snap a retracted and smile photo. The denture gets scanned 360 degrees in your hand.
Then placed in the mouth for bite capture. Now when bringing this into exocad you can pour up the old denture as outlined here. You have a fresh start and use the old denture as a guide to pin to your photos and this is a way to do dentures faster and more efficiently.
