Jesus fucking christ Steve, open a goddamn history book, your remakrs up to 06:33 is just... fucking embarrassing. You would've failed elementary school history with those talking points where I'm from.
Good video. What is interesting is that they talk about nazis as an example, when nazis have the slogan "Got mit uns!" (god is with us!) and they where far from being atheists. The alarming thing about this series of JP videos is that they have no contradictory and they talk to each other proving themselves right, convincing people that they are right. At first glance their claims appear logical, but then the abyss reveals itself. On the other hand, I want to say that the left is not very different either. Neither can find a balanced position.
@@GameTimeWhy Yes, that would be because, like all radical ideologues, he is bending morality for his ideology too. Just like when Steve does it. Just like that. Radical ideologues are not to be trusted.
Well Peterson has proven one thing, you can make a career out of playing to those primed to believe anything. And few are so primed as the religious and the political right.
@@LomuHabana i am firmly on the left and i can say that it also happens on this side sometimes. two examples that come to mind are: 1) marxists who act like socialism is a moral crusade; 2) sjw who bash other for not being virutous enough. the main problem is the religious way of thinking, that operates in absolutes, even when the values at hand are secular. professor hans-georg moeller in the channel "carefree wandering" talks about wokeness as a civil religion (as patriotism also is) and it makes a lot of sense

Jordan B Peterson and the Bible are a perfect combination. The Bible has all the empty, useless wordsalads that he usually had to make up by himself before coming to ridiculous conclusions.
Well, I was in the wrong believe that he is at least (or was) good at his original job (Not his Göbbels-job ... Propagandaminister, the whore of the religious right ... what he is doing now). But before and after time-stamp 17:10 you can clearly see what an absolute plumber he is also in his profession. It is NOT the job of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy to find some "buried problems" from the past. That is if you can find them ... which is very debatable if they can be found and then are accurate or even a root of the problems, are most likely of less relevance: It is NOT clear that it will help anything, a priori. It is more important to come clear and help the patient to cope with his CURRENT situation. Example: Suddenly we found out that your abusive father was the root of all evil.[1] Wonderful ... this doesn't change anything. Even accepting such triggers doesn't help much. That is just a not so modern myth. Oh and there isn't even much to discuss on that topic. This is widely consensus in the field of psychology: WE CANNOT CHANGE THE EFFING PAST!!! And oh my not existing lord; Please @Dloin open the champaign!!! hehehe ... Peterson actually revealed that his whole work is based on that BS and how proud he is about that! [1] The patient will thank you very much. Now he knows the reasons but the symptoms, like depression, listlessness, eating disorders are still there. To see his own worth and his place, NOW AND IN REALITY, is more important and may lead to healing. It doesn't matter if he was captured by aliens or "believes" was abused or thinks he is Napoleon. Trying to change the past won't help, because this is NOT POSSIBLE! It may make things worse, because that is actually a delusion or self-delusion.

Not to mention not even having one Biblical scholar in the Hebrew Bible at the table to discuss the Hebrew Bible. He had some scholars of theology, philosophy, and church history alongside some comics, carvers and novelists but not one publication in, say, the JBL between them. If he actually got scholars to give an academic reading and give it a little philosophical flare from his presepectives/philosophy that actually might be interesting and useful to many of his listeners. But that would mean confronting the intriguing but, inevitably, mundane nature of the text and matters of its authorship.

As a skeptical agnostic atheist that used to be a fundamentalist Christian, I have found it much more satisfying and accurate to say "I don't know" in many more situations. This has taken so much weight off of my shoulders and helped me to stop asserting ridiculous propositions about things I know nothing about. When someone tells me that I can't ground morality objectively or something like that, I am just like "yeah... okay, neither can you." Its so great to not lie to myself and therefore others anymore. Maybe its okay that we don't have some rigorous and satisfying explanation for all of these problems that we face. MAYBE WE STILL NEED TO SOLVE THEM or are asking the wrong questions. IMO a fundamentalist worldview (like the one I used to have) sees itself as having all of the answers already. I think this is insidious and dangerous. That is why I am skeptical now and seek to ask the right questions as well as find better answers.
it is never suprising but always amazing that these guys get together as only 2 of the 3 large monotheistic religions. Islam has the exact same stories but it never includes it.
Politically, now, they don't need a tent that big. If the atheists gained enough, or if oil became trivial enough, Islam would get in; if Christianity gained enough juice, Prager and Shapiro would get kicked out.
Yeah, Jewish morality and theology is generally closer to the Islamic rather than the Christian morality and theology. I don’t get all this “Judeo-Christian” values bullshit.
@@LomuHabana Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro at least represent strains of Judaism in the U.S. that may share more in public-life values with evangelical/fundamentalist Protestant Christianity than with a lot of the rest of Judaism. The same thing goes for large amounts of popular Catholicism (and Matt Walsh) compared to the rest of U.S. Catholicism or Catholicism elsewhere. So for them, "Judeo-Christian" can make some sense if you're willing to let them exclude from it so much _actual_ Judaism and Christianity, or, with Shapiro, declare that they're all not "real" Jews.
The thing is... How do we prove their faith is real??? Easy... If they open up their financial statements and follow the bible giving to the poor their wealth other wise is pretty simple: this is their job to keep using brainwashing to have people donating to them. Dr peterson hurts many who view him as legit smart and intellectually honest. This man is questionable even in his own field. And he feels his mental constructions valid in all other unrelated fields. He has poisoned so many wells
He MIGHT have at one point had something to contribute to the field of psychology (although I even question that). But once he discovered that being a right-wing grifter is a more profitable and attention-grabbing profession than being a university professor, he's been non-stop pontificating on subjects like biology, climate science, medicine, history, philosphy, economics, theology, and geopolitics that he clearly knows nothing about. He's a know-nothing blowhard who uses his linguistic skills to dazzle and amaze the young and impressionable, the uneducated, the ignorant and naive, and the uncritical and unthinking into believing his pronouncements are profound and insightful, instead of trite, empty, and often factually wrong.
A few years ago, some right wing dimwit told me how great Benny and Jordan are. I gave them a random, and knew, if this was the best the cretins had to offer ...
Chew on this: More recently, he's claimed to be an evolutionary biologist and neuroscientist in several videos. You know, the expertise of Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris, respectively. This charlatan is beginning to spew outright lies to boost his own credentials.
I do appreciate you going through this experience Stephen. I understand the pain and suffering of watching Jordan and all these other people. Wouldn’t it be interesting to have an atheist or even some sort of non-religious philosopher? Perhaps maybe someone that’s at least intellectually honest?
Seriously, Stephen needs to be commended for sitting through this. I wonder, if by some, ahem, miracle, that were Peterson to invite Stephen to sit in on one of these pseudo-intellectual circle-jerks, would he accept. My money is on "yes." Dare to dream...
You'd think they'd at least have a token woman in the panel to legitimize it, but no. It really is transparent how their beliefs are incompatible with modern reality.
he would use one of his most ironic and harsh senteces: ''don't waste my time!'' oh hearing that said to the face of these clowns would have been delightful to see...
He recites a lot of red pill/incel stuff, which more than a few people have pointed out, mimics the isolation and disempowerment tactics of more traditional cults. It resonates with a certain kind of man in a vulnerable place, makes him feel like someone "gets it" and validates his feelings, but in the end it only serves to convince him even more strongly that his situation is hopeless and miserable and that there is nothing he can do to improve it. And if you're willing to wade into the cesspit and engage with Peterson fans you'll see this... Guys who will swear up and down that Peterson is a great man who only wants to help and uplift them, but who have been following him for years and are now convinced they are the victim of a conspiracy (against men, or tradition, or "the West") which has ruined their lives and which theely are powerless against. I don't know anything about architecture, but if I were to examine the career of an architect and discover that the buildings he had designed had all collapsed or been condemned, or had required extensive renovation and repair soon after completion, I'd still be able to tell that he's a shitty architect. Peterson is a shitty psychologist.
Agreed - this is one of the most profane of claims made by his cultists. "he treated people" -- saying nothing about how THEIR lives turned out by his abhorrent and unethical behavior - that is, that he didn't apply the scientific method to his treatment, but performed untold malpractice. Go ahead, Jordan, sue me, but realize WHY you walked away from that field beyond the fact there was another more lucrative scam. More than happy to have that added to your infamy. Not suggesting that the Trumpians you represent won't continue to worship at the feet of the symbolic anti-christ you and the orange clown represent. But we might be able to "save" some, much like Jesus called out the Pharisee for damning their adherents to hell twice over. Maybe we can help your idiot base out of at least one of them ;)

When the guy said out loud and proud, with open arms: "Look around us!", I had to laugh uncontrollably. This is the best comedy bit I've seen in a while. As for the whole thing, I'm really happy for them. You can clearly see in their knowing looks that this is the closest most of them were to an erection in quite a few years. The conservative bromance is in the air.
Yeah, I got that moment, too:) But don't forget (about your erection analogy): This is the same with rapists. They don't do it for sexual satisfaction. These sad creatures need this to infuse their pathetic confidence with a brief rush of power. They(now about Pennis Prager, Pordan Jeterson, Pen "I like muscles men" Papiro and the others) get it from the oppression of their fellow human beings (especially minorities), from the patronization of women and from the abuse of children across all spectra (brainwashing, violence, sexual). So my laughter is limited:/ P.S.: Don't forget that mostly and if those degenerates didn't marry a 12 year old wife ... their kids are usually from the gardener or the pool boy, because usually grown up and emancipated women smell a coward 500yards against the wind.
As a Christian, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your breakdown of these kinds of topics. I cannot stand the hateful rhetoric from those on the right, and those of us who are Christians who try to fight against this dominant, fascist, white Christian nationalism, can't do it alone. We're outnumbered, and we need all of the help we can get from other similarly minded people.

I admire your patience. I could not watch a minute of any drivel that Jordan Peterson spews forth. I just find it disgusting when people engage in exhibition of their own failure’s and then commercialises it to the gullible and naive.
Yea, he really annoys me meeting with these obviously religiously dogmatic people just to appease his base. Tbh, if you watch his courses from the University of Toronto back in 16' and 17', it's wayyy more interesting and scientific. Really enjoyable and comes from more of a humanist perspective. I can appreciate trying to understand the Bible as literature, but trying to examine it from a psychological perspective to this degree is nauseating, particularly when paired with this morinic "round table" 😂.
Watching this video gives me stress, just from hearing the nonsensical word salad. If one were to do similar exercises with other fictional literature, like "Lords of the Rings" or "Harry Potter", I'm sure the results would be similar dribble.
Well, he markets at religious power (and other, worse topics) abusers. His choice! Not very unlikely that he will soon come into contact with the fanatics in their environment. Think about that in the Christian sense, however, Peterson is quite simply a heretic, since he sees everything (and that too openly) as transcendental and not according to Christian teaching. Historically such views removed whole groups of "believers" from their "bodies" into early after-life ... to formulate it that way ... :)
Usually, I would never listen to anything with Jordan Peterson but I trust the merits of the owner of this channel to prevent Perterson from fluttering his mouth unimpeded like a feather in the wind.

It’s just a metaphor for the fact that you can’t fight nature or fate, but you can change human politics . Eg. I only watched 5 mins - not because your vid was bad but because it's excellent and I already know that Peterson is a joke. Your perseverance is admirable.
Thanks! As a bibliophile (not necessarily _only_ The Bible), I have to agree with the _spirit_ of Peterson's statement that books are more durable than any castle. Their design relevance (pages between two covers) has lasted more than 2000 years, and they are as popular as ever.
Durability is not a measure of goodness. Smallpox was around for at least 3300 years. Fortunately we eradicated that particular virus. The mind-virus of religion still persists, however. Ideas can indeed be very durable, but that durability is not limited to good ideas. Bad ideas like patriarchy and slavery have been very persistent too.
Jordan hit his stride when he started spreading nonsense, fascism and hate speech. Turns out, people love to hate especially when one throws in a dash of religion. I hope Jordan steps barefoot onto a piece of Lego. This may seem harsh, but I think it falls in line with my moral standards.
That clip of Prager's smug "hmmm" has to be one of the funniest things to add the absolutely incorrect context to. Edit: "We are not beset by ignorance." No but we are certainly besieged by it on all sides.
It still astonishes me how Jordan Peterson was able to continue being “notable” after his fifteen minutes were up. He kept getting exposed by engaging with actual smart people but his bots just kept eating it up.

He's hosted Dave Rubin on his channel, so you can't call him homophobic. He's not claiming that reproductive rights should be outlawed.
