Great timing...I just got a firerod & quicklight tinder & a product they call tinder zips last week. I've been playing with them but it's reassuring to see someone with your experience show confidence in them Great video, atb Bryan!
Exotax is my favorite brand of ferro rods even though they are a little more expensive. My fav is the Polystriker XL and the Nanostriker is really good for gifts
I have a Casio pathfinder watch , has the barometer, temperature, and compass, and altimeter, works really well , Any outdoorsman/survivalist should get them one of these.
Great video friend🙂 Have you tried striking them all with your Eldris? It seemed like their strikers were not working so well. I also have an Eldris and it is one of my favorites 🙂💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Great review as always Bryan! I have the Firesleeve by Exotac for a Bic lighter and it has been nice. Been searching for a nice firestarter to add to my Tibo sheath( working on some kydex stuff and handle scales) and the nanoSTRIKER XL has been one of my top 3 choices. I like it a lot. After watching this I think I´ll buy me one. Thank you :) I like the overall looks of it and seems like it is lower profile than the TOPS ferro rods I have with two magnesium rods and a ferro rod combo. That fireROD is cool too. Hopefully my retailer gets those in stock someday. Bit like scaled down version of the ESEE ferro rod which has the lager waterproof container and a compass in the lid. Thank you for sharing :) Looking forward to more Exotac reviews and the Mora Eldris video. I have been considering to buy Eldris with the kit :) Big thumbs up!
These always seemed a bit small to me. I see them all the time at Bass Pro Shop and I'm always tempted to snatch one up...but usually put them back on the shelf. Maybe it's a good choice for a small emergency kit. I do like their design. Very slick.
I love Exotac and EDC a Nano XL, but I hate their stubby strikers and just use whatever knife is in my pocket. If those strikers were a bit longer they'd be way easier to use when cold and dexterity challenged.
The Nano is part of a step above useless. I'd send you mine, but it's not worth the postage. The Polystriker XL is pure fire candy, though. Well worth the $15 they are here.
I love exotac company. They have wonderful designs in addition of high quality products. Also, the products are supported by replacement parts. That's what I look for.
No cons what so ever? None of them seems to make a lot of sparks. That's one huge con for me. After watching your video I'll probably go with a Light my Fire Swedish fire rod.
Great video and nothing at all against you Brian but these are way overpriced. You can get gear that works just as well for a whole lot less. A lot of companies out there are really just trying to make a buck (or millions) off of us regular people that just want to go camping or be prepared. You can get a fero rod and striker from several places for less than $10. Quick tender is also available on Amazon in packs of 50 for around $12.
Sure you can accomplish the same basic task for less money, and there is nothing wrong with that. But there is also nothing wrong with creating products for people who are not looking for the absolute least expensive way to do things. It is all about choices and options.
Survival On Purpose I agree and hope you understand that I am not bashing you. I love your videos and look forward to new ones. I'm just unimpressed by how much some of these companies are charging for very simple items. I also am a boy scout leader and want to say kudos to you for that too.
Frederick Kunitz I agree unfortunately a lot of stuff we buy now days is not made in America. Even a large majority of American cars are made in Mexico or Canada. If your VIN does not start with 1 it was not made in America. 4 and 5 used to be America but now that just signifies it was made by an American company but in a different country. I don't mean to knock anyone or say one is better than the other. You can buy less expensive American made products. Also some foreign made products are made better. Late model American cars are a prime example. Asian car are made better last longer and hold their resale value better.
Yes. Like IKEA does many other companies here do the same. That is they find a product that is good, the copy it with the same materials and sell it cheaper.
