The are also companies in the Netherlands where at the end of the year you will receive a 13 month payment in December for the holidays or an end-of-year bonus for the holidays

It may be interesting for people to know that your converted drivers license will be valid in all EU countries so that's probably the best value for money you'll ever get out of 40 euro's. 🙂 The following is from a government website: "If you have a valid Dutch driving license you can drive in any EU country and in Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. If your driving license was issued by a country that is not part of the EU and you then exchanged it for a Dutch driving license, you will also be able to use it in all of these countries."

Actualy dont be suprised if you get all the benefits of living here is you work here many things are payed for by your employer , its shown on your pay slip . WW , AOW , WAO, pension etc etc stuff you pay for with out knowing it , you pay for it you have all the rights that go with it . lets say you want to enhance your carreer but need an extra module or course you can claim it as tax deductable and get a refund in the amount of % of taxes you pay. If it improves your job and salaris you pay more taxes , win win .

The 30% rule is usually packeted by the employer. Ii is rare to see an employee benefiting from it.
@josphineogugua
@josphineogugua 2 года назад
I think it really depends on whether the employee is aware or not. Most employees I know that qualify for it are aware of it. And I think if you request it, and you’re qualified, then you get refunded all the money you are owed by the tax authorities regardless.

Hi Dwiva. Apologies that I’m just responding. I really don’t know much about housing except that, for international students, the school usually provide some form of temporary accommodation to help with settling down. I’m aware that a lot of times, these accommodation are limited and work on a first come first serve basis. I would say contact school as soon as possible to hear what is obtainable. Best of luck 🤞

@Josphine I learnt that to get permanent residency in Netherlands after five years you will have to renounce your current citizenship...don't know if it can be manovered...pls reply
@josphineogugua
@josphineogugua 2 года назад
Hi Sharon, you don't need to renounce your citizenship to obtain Dutch permanent residency. You only need to renounce if you're seeking Dutch citizenship. There are very few exceptions, if you're from a country that doesn't allow you to renounce then you can keep dual citizenship. If you're married to a Dutchy, then you van keep dual citizenship. if you will lose a very expensive inheritance when you renounce then you can also have dual citizenship. ind.nl/en/dutch-citizenship/becoming-a-dutch-national-through-naturalisation ind.nl/en/extend-or-change-permit/permanent-residency

thanks for the video. Just a question: if you change company during the 5 years would the 30 % rule be canceled or it is not depending on your employer? thx
@josphineogugua
@josphineogugua Год назад
This is a tricky situation. 30% rule is applied when you’re employed from outside the Netherlands as an expat. The second employer might claim that you were employed from within the Netherlands so 30% ruling should not apply. I think communicating with an employer or even your lawyer might be the best way to go. It will bring more clarity to the situation

I think the 30% rule is abolished or will be abolished very soon. Because of the housing crisis. There are simply no houses to live in anymore. So, we cannot house ourselves, let alone immigrants. This is in the long run very bad, but we are dealing with very complicated environmental problems hampering the building of houses here.
@josphineogugua
@josphineogugua 2 года назад
Hi Ronald. I do know the 30% rule was reduced from 8years to 5 years. But I haven’t heard about complete abolishment. I agree that housing crises has really changed the dynamics of things. I was looking into the housing market recently and the cost of housing and competition from so many bidders was just insane. Do you see this issue resolving anytime in the near future?

@@josphineogugua I heard it was in the plans of the current government. The government also planned to build 900.000 houses in 10 years. But I don't think that will be achieveable.

Thank you for this informative video 😊What if you are an American married to a Dutch citizen, but living in the US and planning to move to the Netherlands? Is it still possible to get your American Driver’s license transferred over to a Dutch one? Thank you!
@williamgeardener2509
@williamgeardener2509 2 года назад
Dutch laws are complicated when it comes to transferring drivers licenses. You need to inquire about your situation at a local driving school or at your municipally. Dutch authorities are very reluctant to hand out drivers licenses to people who do not know or understand Dutch traffic laws. Road safety and drivers who understand their responsibility while driving a killing machine are a big issue in the Netherlands. That's why fines really are huge and monitoring traffic has priority in the Netherlands. Do not be surprised when you get a 350 Euro fine for holding your phone while driving or having to pay 215 Euros because you drove 70Km/h in 50 zone. And yes, sometimes you just get a friendly letter from the CJIB, informing you that you were caught committing an offense and would you please be so kind to pay the a €300 fine or else they are going to take you to court which means that suddenly your fine gets doubled to € 600 or more.
@alcidesforever
@alcidesforever 2 года назад
For what I've heard, it depends on the American State where you got your dirvers license.
@jan-willemgoedmakers3430
@jan-willemgoedmakers3430 2 года назад
Good question. As far as I know, it depends on whether you as American are hired by a company in the Netherlands and therefore entitled to the 30% rule. For example, if your Dutch partner is returning to the Netherlands, but you are only following your partner as a spouse and you are not moving because of a new job, you are not entitled to the 30%. I don't know how long your partner has worked in the US. In the past it could be that if you had been away from The Netherlands for more than 10 years, even as a Dutch person you could be entitled to 30% ruling. I do not know if this still exists.
