Hi Lorna. Great blog. I've been in love with Chang Mai and Thailand since my first visit in 1994. I went back to Bangkok and Phuket 12 months ago and a lot has changed! I plan to retire there as well in 5 -10 years or sooner if I can! When I was in Bangkok 12 months ago, the air quality reported for Bangkok AND especially Chang Mai was dangerously poor due to burning off crops. There was a lot of respiratory disease reported in children. Is this a concern for you and your husband? Good on you for taking the plunge I think you're an inspiration and living out what may be your best years. Also I nearly cried with fond memories when I heard that bird call. What is the name of that whistling bird heard in the background. I miss hearing it.
