I feel like we've upgraded a lot of offensive pieces but agree that we downgraded a lot on defense. If Bryce isn't able to be successful with an upgraded OL, new WR's, new RB's, and coach who is supposedly perfect for him - we need to drop the project and find our real franchise QB. Our defense will struggle to get after opposing QB's and we're shallow at positions that are crucial for stopping the run. We will need to score 30+ per week to have a winning record. That is quite a leap for Bryce and personally I don't think he is that guy. Andy would have won more games for us last year and I feel like he probably would this year too. To your message about our defense last year - the stats you listed (yards per game, points per game, takeaways) you have to remember that we were getting the brakes beat off of us every single week. There is no reason for a team to run up the score, throw for more yardage, etc. because we were losing nearly every single game. I don't put much weight into stats like that, using something like PFF's rating system is a much better assessment. One final point, Bryce unfortunately wasn't only #32... with so much turnover at the QB position he was into the 40's in his ranking which puts him near the top of the list for backup QB's but not even on the list for starters. He needs to take a huge leap if we expect him to be league average.
Great analysis bro!!! The one thing I'd add is that they replaced their other starting DE Yetur Gross-Matos with DJ Wonnum, which should at least be a marginal upgrade. Still nervous about that edge room though
I dont think wonnum will be ready to play until week 5 or 6 tbh. He's likely to start the season on the pup after the latest news on his recovery was released. Evero made it work with a LOT of bandaids last year and I have no doubt he can scheme up a competitive defense to start the season that will be cooking by week 6 and ready to support a successful offense if Idzik is able to have them competing and Canales is able to call the right plays at key moments. We have to give grace to the defense at the start of the year, that's where they pulled from to have the collateral to afford the retooled offense
Dj wonnum is NOT an upgrade man lol there's a reason San Fran snatched ygm as fast as they did with a 2 year contract. He's getting 9 mil just like wonnum, only he's playing on a real contender
@gabesheaffer7757 idk man I'm not an expert on it or anything but while YGM was good for setting the edge he never seemed to get much pressure in the pass rush. My understanding is that isn't the case with Wonnum?

There are too many holes on this roster. What will likely happen is the offense makes Huge Advances but it only leads to sustaining drives longer & more points. but the D has downgraded, so their opponents will as well. I don't know why this is an issue though. I can's _stand_ this fan impatience with rebuilds. Wins & losses are nothing. you don't need to buy tickets, wear jerseys, cheer & have parties if all you're going to do is read the box-score & allow that to affect your lives. How empty is that? Seeing strides & progress made is interesting. Does anyone want to see Zach Wilson come into games & be as we've seen him up 'til now? No, but how excited would we be if we saw him stand in the pocket with poise & make good decisions? How boring was this past season of the Jags compared to '22 & their multiple come-from-behind wins? I'll watch Cirque du Soleil & not the olympics so I don't have some Paid Judge ruin the experience by imposing a biased grade onto what i enjoy. Same with the NFL. Justin Jefferson is a Joy To Watch for his own sake. Who _cares_ if it led to a win? I won't remember the score without looking it up. But that game in '22 where Diggs made the catch of the year then JJ made a _better_ one? *That* remains.
