Thank you. This really helped with my replacement. Had all the tools I needed set out before I started and no surprises. You're the MVP.

Thank you for the video! I worked for a BMW dealership for 32 years, and I know the value of a nice how-to tutorial. You just never know what you might be getting into, thankfully this looks like a breeze.

For those who do not always need a working rear auxiliary heater. It is possible to replace the 2 heater hoses in the engine compartment with non-auxiliary heater hoses. These shorter hoses makes it much easier to work on the passenger side of the engine. This also lets you back flush both heater cores. once the engine work is completed you can restore the auxiliary heater hoses. good to replace those 20+ year old engine compartment heater hoses anyways.

Good job I wonder it should be basically the same on a 2000 e150 ecoline van.

GREAT video, getting ready to tackle this in the next day or 2. Just confirming NO RADIATOR DRAIN needed? Just release pressure on overflow tank up front? THANKS MUCH!

Thanks for this. Quick question: I have a situation with this generation Expedition to where the front heater core will need to be bypassed but want to keep the rear. I'm sure this is not a big deal but would someone who knows more specifically about this comment?

6:00 the colder the outlet temp is, the warmer the air your heater core is.

Hi, the video is great. What if the hoses on the radiator is not same temperature. Does the cause of no heat probably due thermostat lock open?

Were both heaters intermittently working, or simply lacking heat all the time? My '03 Expedition sometimes works, and has plenty of heat, front & rear, but when first started, it's ice cold, even after engine is at operating temperature. Seems like air in the system, but having a devil of a time clearing it out, even using vacuum coolant fill. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

Now i know why it got so hot when I stuck my hand between the 3rd seat and the wall!

That actuator on the side is for selecting cold air or hot air for the rear vents correct? Because the top one looks like it selects floor or roof I only ask because my buddies wife’s expedition blend door actuator is bad in the rear vents and stuck blowing heat wanted to make sure it was this one and not the one under the front dash any info would help so I don’t have to guess thank you!

Will the rear heat work even if the front heater core is blocked? I didnt know my 99 expo had a rear heater core.

Did you have to bleed the coolant system after changing the core?

My dealer tells me I need to replace the rear evaporator core. The front of the third row seat completely fell apart and the carpet in front of the seat behind the driver is also falling apart. Could this be from a problem with the rear evaporator core? I don't know what else might have caused the seat stitching to come apart as well as the problem with the carpet. Any ideas?

This is exactly what happens when you don’t put the proper coolant in these trucks. The problem is this they get low on coolant people put tap water in them it destroys the coolant system and heating systems. When all they had to do is pull into any automotive parts store and get a gallon jug of 50-50 that’s appropriate for their vehicle. Running the proper coolant in a vehicle saves thousands and thousands of dollars down the line.

What tool did you use to loosen the 8mm bolt below the hoses?

I have a 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. I am planning on replacing the heater core just because it never has been replaced, but more importantly, the heater hose block that is under the SUV is leaking. I have already tried replacing the P trap looking hose down there, but the leak still persists. To replace that block do I need to do it from inside where you just exposed the heater core, or is this done from under the SUV??

On the rear heater core rubber lines why would someone cut them and then splice them into each other by passing the heater core

Leaking heater core, they bypassed it eliminating the leak.

Both of the heater cores is clogged on my 00 Ford Expedition front and rear. My question to anyone is can I just replace the rear heater core and have heat or would I have to replace both at the same time? The front is time consuming and rather pay a professional for that.
@jeebus6263
@jeebus6263 3 года назад
You can replace just one, are you sure that's the problem... - how do you know they're clogged? - did you test your thermostat?

I did the front on my 2000 ford expedition. Yes it was hard! But was possible with 90 degree needle nose. Now my rears is not putting heat. Thinking draining or replace. Id rather drain. A bunch of sediment and rust flakes came out just the front.
