Now I am dutch and I have been to Flevoland many times but I never had the guts to climb that mountain so I take my hat of for all you brave people. I have been to the pub though, but I took the stairs.

On that very historic day, 42 people lost their lives climbing that mountain and at some point in the future it will have a 100% mortality rate

That was probably the very worst and best day ever for Urk.

I would like to invite you for an expedition to the 'Bosberg', in Appelscha, the highest mountain of Friesland (+27 meters above sea level). It comes with a really cool legendary story as well!! And it has a nice watchtower as well, where you can see the Martini tower in Groningen when the weather is clear. It definitely is worth the trip!

Next time you gather such an enormous crowd you should start a protest for something hilarous similtaneously

As someone who is from Flevoland, I can confirm Getting to the highest point is an extremely daunting task

This is just an awesome video. Thanks a lot for letting us follow you on this awesome trip. This remembers me when I climbed the highest (not man made) mountain in Leipzig, Germany, which is about 10 metres high. This is called "Warze" (which literrally means wart), and we scoot down with our toboggan.

The title of the video suggests that it was possible to fail. I'm glad no one fell and became paralyzed from the waist down on that harrowing journey

There used to be a "botel" moored next to the Chinese restaurant (5:19). It was just about the most uncomfortable hotel I've ever stayed in and put me off going on a cruise for life. If the guy in the next room who spent 3 nights snoring and coughing and gagging is reading this, thanks.

As a Dutchman, I appreciate your friend's efforts to not instantly say 'drugs' when asked what he likes about my country. Also, you missed out on skipping Rotterdam. Amsterdam is the most overrated city in the world. Those houses at 5:06 will run you about €1600 a month without services I reckon.

Ive climbed this mountain a few years ago. It was so hard and it took 2 days. It probably took so long because we camped halfway up the mountain XD

Hoek van Holland was not just an ordinary train station, trains straight to Moscow departed and terminated here until 1993 :-)

When I was on study abroad, I was forced to go on a field trip to Urk. It just so happens that the city of Urk is the most fundamentalist religious community in the Netherlands by far, and the people of the community don't like outsiders very much (and we were even warned of this ahead of time). We were just a group of a couple of students and a professor, and despite that he had several people from the community who came up to the professor (who they were able to figure out was not a native because he was not speaking in the traditional Urker dialect) and asking us why we were there, then telling us to go away even though we literally were doing nothing wrong, not even talking loudly! Despite that I found Urk to be a very interesting community with a very unique history, as an fishing village on an island that was once part of the North Sea, and then made part of the mainland via land reclamation and cut off from the ocean completely.

Also, I’m from the Southern Hemisphere so I have absolutely no idea why I just typed “innit”. the music makes it feel very dramatic, while in reality this 'mountain' isn't even taller than most houses

I grew up in the vicinity and the family of my mother lived on Urk. We went there regularly to visit and climb the mountain. Actually the people from Urk call the old part of their village "de bult", which litterally translates to "the hump".

The name Urk fits perfectly, it's the sound one makes when thinking obout it.

When you watch one of Tim's videos and realise he's travelling on the same ferry that you used in your honeymoon. Hi from Australia!

With enough video editing, even a walk down to the chip shop can be made epic. This is on a par with Top Gear's masterful editing (back in the Clarkson days).

It was great to be apart of this event, met so many nice people, including Tim :) and there was a great feeling of community, we didn't know each other, but we all shared a common goal and connection, which meant that after the second drink at the pub we were all best mates!
