Still playing MudRunner because it's got superior physics but just as importantly - it's optimized. My RTX 3070 struggles with SnowRunner, having to play on low graphics at 70-90% GPU usage (1440p) versus MudRunner allowing me to run Ultra, max graphics, at 1440p with 30% GPU usage. In summary, SnowRunner is dogshit. This is a sequel to SR, not MR. Easy decision.
I don't know what it is about Expeditions, but it just... doesn't click with me. Even the trailers on Steam make it, in my opinion, look dull in comparison to even Spintires, and this video honestly didn't change my opinion. To those who do find it interesting, however: I genuinely hope you enjoy yourselves and hopefully enjoy many hours of your expeditions!
I enjoyed their previous games, but couldn’t keep playing it cause unless I played with friends it felt very lonely, no NPCs, no traffic, just you and the world, maybe the odd animal NPCs here and there
fair enough man , for me is the missions structure , have to go back to main menu to enter the map or missions is what made me stop playing , yes still kind of a mudrunner game but worst in a sense. if you pass a tunnel or go next map with a truck you cannot use your other deployed trucks , the concept is bad baked.
Squirrel, I’ve watched your videos and twitch streams very frequently in the past (Eurotruck and Mudrunner era), but since life got more turbulent, I‘m not having much time for every single upload. I‘m happy that you’re still in the "game" and even getting sponsorships like this one. I hope you and everyone in your clother circle stay healthy and happy. Wishing you all the best! 😊
Funny how the wheel gets reinvented. The game industry (especially the AAAs) has some considerable tasks to take on if any games from them will stand out again AT ALL!
They should at least rework the entire engine noises and how it's implemented. Really feels cheap compared to the graphics which is realistic, the way your car just went vroom every tap of the throttle (while on the move) is just so weird and annoying. It's almost like the driver switched to neutral and play with the gas pedal all the time.
How does map sizes compare to previous games? Does anybody know? My biggest complaint with 'Mud Runner' was that the maps felt TINY. You could see everything in one sitting. For a game about exploration, I'd want the world to be a *LOT* bigger. Did they do that?
No, maps (there is only three of them right now) looks like 1x1km/2x2km from snowrunner, and thats all. I hope in the future they will give us much bigger maps (more than 4x4km in snowrunner) to the game as season updates.
Aside from the small prologue map, the maps are 2km x 2km. They feel bigger than the Snowrunner maps because there are almost no roads, and travel speed is much slower in this game on average as a result.
@@ghastousthe amount of gameplay per $ with the seasons passes in snowrunner is crazy though. I've never bought any but I've got about 300 hours in just the 3 base maps and still not finished them.
Considering the lack of a garage, locked configurations of the trucks you do have, and the limited unrecoverable "help" items it's both more accessible and yet far more annoying.
My only issue here is the fact that the terrian here isnt matching with reality. Unless it has been raining, your tires are simply not sinking in most places. This would basically be like driving on concrete as the surface in this area is mostly solid sedimentary rock and compacted dirt. Ive done off roading here and seeing tires deform the ground like that is just silly.
It would speak to me more if it had a controllable player character. More like some games ranging from My Summer Car to Pacific Drive. It will give you a more immersive feeling of bonding with your vehicle. This game doesn't really seem like a worthy upgrade over SnowRunner. But I could be totally wrong. It just looks like the same concept with some changes. I am ready for something new.
Does this game have multiplayer? You're Snowrunner MP series is how i found you in the first place so would be nice to see something like that again. Especially when the Snowrunner series just sorta ended randomly.
I'm guessing they didn't fix the automatic gearbox trying to always be in the highest gear, or any vehicle acting like it's braking whenever you let go off the accelerator?
The effect you get when you let your foot off the accelerator is meant to simulate engine braking but they implemented it poorly. The vehicles drive like they don't garner enough momentum as a truck should be able to. Hence the quick braking
20:27 Wait, what? 100,000 hours of gameplay? Maybe 100 - 1000? If they really suggest a hundred thousand... well... perhaps they measured how much time it took a tester to complete 1 expedition and multiplied, just didn't consider the time spent looking for a way to finish it (the "return to HQ" menu).
The limited tools that are unrecoverable and the lack of a garage really killed 90% of this game for me. The only hope at this point is that there will be options to turn off the annoying features and able to actually play the game. Barring that it will be up to the modders once more to fix the game.
For some reason I just miss the vibe that the original spinitres gave me. Minimal HUD, barely any options, menues or fancy features. Yes I agree the game was extremely basic but somehow had something to it that I couldn't get from these games.
This looks like 60$ snowrunner part 2 for maps and a couple trucks I hate this franchise, spintires and mudrunner just feels better, and even a jeep feels like a semi gearbox and all
The best overview video for this, I have been burnt too many times recently pre-ordering games so wait for them to release now. Just picked this up with the great discount code thank you.
Just an update it has been 3 hours since release and the only people who can install this game on steam are those who purchased directly through steam, if you buy it elsewhere and redeem the code the game is not unlocking. Hopefully it gets resolved today.
@@garyduddell3224:D :D thats what you get when you buy the game from retarded developers and studio. Classic game worth it when it hits the 50 % sale...
Great video! However the game just looks horrible. The textures look like they are from the PS3 era, the UI looks like a high school student's project, the physics are worse than even spintires, the world is dull, everything about this game is subpar. 😢
I hate where they are going with this franchise. The cars/trucks seem more and more arcadey, the maps look boring and repetitive and the gameplay doesn't click with me. I think in terms of physics the games peaked with mudrunner (even though it had some missing things from Spintires) and in terms of content and gameplay it peaked with Snowrunner, but it's starting to go downhill for me. As someone else already mentioned, I hope the people that buy this game will enjoy it.
if only they wouldnt gone on CONSOLES with mudrunneru ... if only they kept it PC Only... then they wouldnt had insentive to screw us all over like this on this Blatant Cashgrab
@@diprosla592 Hundreds of thousands of players for this game come from console, with hundreds or thousands of hours from a lot of them, for you to say we shouldn’t even have the game, is a dogshit thing to say Edit: had to remove the F*ck you
I Don’t understand this whole thing where mud runners fans and snow runner fans are talking shit, like that doesn’t make any sense, if you love a game, wouldn’t you want to play other games like it 💀 as someone who has almost 700 hours on Snowrunner on Xbox, I absolutely love this game, because it’s just more snowrunner but different, I definitely prefer snowrunner, but that doesn’t have anything to do with it, I like this game too, so that’s great, this game is great It’s like the whole palworld Pokémon thing where Pokémon fans didn’t want to play Palworld because it’s a “copy”…. But WHY, if you love Pokémon, wouldn’t you WANT to play Palworld? It’s the same thing here, I would have assumed Snowrunner and mud runner fans would have jumped at the chance to play this, because it’s more of what they like with some differences
This sentence doesn’t make any sense, you’re asking if the physics are the same, but then said Snowrunner physics are subpar, but how would you know Snowrunner physics are sub par if you don’t know what this game’s physics are like….
I'm in 4th gear, I have the momentum, I should make this climb easy. However... the game decides I need 5th gear and makes the change no driver would ever make going up a steep hill, thus all momentum is lost, the truck stops dead in its tracks, grabs 1st gear, bogs down and gets stuck. Good mud physics, terrible driving experience. So it's a strong *NO* from me.
I play solo in SnowRunner (when I remember I own it) or have time as its time consuming. Or even energy as lately work and traffic has me so stressed out, I either go straight to bed after dinner or watch reruns of TV comedy sitcoms until I fall asleep. I like a route that seemed impossible is finally conquered, or I do something in the wrong vehicle or in wrong order and succeed in my mission. I love going back through previous mission trails in upgraded or unlock vehicles and remembering how difficult it was to complete only days or weeks earlier. Not needing to winch my way through using every tree or winch point in sight. Rescuing not only mission vehicles but my own vehicle I abandoned weeks earlier. That I can now go back and rescue, or recovering stuck loads I had abandoned because it was stuck. I agree, and I am disappointed they have not added AI vehicles if if limited vehicles. I have vague memory of playing online, qnd being able to request help/everyone doing their own challenges. But that was years ago, as I have not played in months or longer! I used also love (when I had time) watching hour+ long videos of Squirrel playing simulator games. Can't remember if it was a Train Simulator game or one of the EuroTruck games.
I don't play any games multiplayer anymore. back in the day when i started online gaming people online treated others the same as IRL, with respect. toxicity was unheard of and even a single curse word meant in a positive manner would result in bans of most online games, I'm talking in days of EQ1 for example when it first launched. Heck even back in early counter strike 1.6 days it was so rare to see toxicity and there wasn't as much rambo style play, you typically coordinated and devised strategies and all that. today every online game you end up disabling chat because it's nothing but toxicity and people saying things you would never want anyone in your family hearing . Online games there is 0 team work anymore. And people are always cheating, griefing and more. It's not worth is. last online game i played a lot was rocket league, i loved it because it was unlike anything else and required so much technical skill. I played it for a full 2 years and up to champion level ranking before quitting, the toxicity got worst every day to the point where 50% of the games was someone being toxic or playing for other team and so on. I swear there was an army of people with smurf accounts purposely throwing matches to keep anyone who plays solo from ever climbing higher in the rankings leaving it only really possible for those with amazing teamates who can rank up. It was impossible to climb any higher then i got simply due to how often a teammate would throw a match, i think i'd have to win a dozen games to make up for that one teammate who decided to play for the other team. Even in WoW when i tried that out i got kicked out of a guild for not wanting to pretend i am gay, and thing is i know it was an LGBQ+ guild and i fully support that freedom, but I am straight, i can't act gay. they had and they kicked me for it, it is just nothing but toxicity in every guild i would join, it would only be days before i'd see drama and fighing in guild chat. it's a joke. And no one my age plays any of games i play. so I don't know anyone who i can play with. I certainly will not waste my time trying to meet new people online, been there and done that and learned my lesson. So yea i played previous games solo and they where fine, if i had to play with others i would never play it period, knowing me others would only grief me and try to stop me from playing every objective. and people don't like playing by the rules or how gamess are meant to be played. that's why counterstrike over time lost all the normal servers and changed over to "gun mod" servers and the zombie servers, i didn't enjoy those, those ruined the game for me. I didn't play counterstrike to then turn it into an unrealistic game. It's unfortunate because games like helldivers i will never play, it's not for solo players which confirmed in many steam threads about it, so it means i will never play it.
this is 100% True :/ its Sad seeing how things have changed in worse in this regard, luckily DVD games still exist question is, For how mutch longer will they even sell the games on DvDs?
New game from Saber? Absolutely no. They treat their community like crap. SR is still broken (coop mostly) and they just abandoned the idea to fix it and decided to release new game? Well "new" game it is basically snowrunner with scout vehicles. F... them.
@@Izmael1310 I really appreciate your reply. I play MR and I’ve tried SR and didn’t like the driving physics hence I decided to get MR. There should be a video or clarification from developers as to why the handling/ physics are different from MR as MR is a game changer when it comes to driving slow paced simulation. Anyways, thanks again, for replying.
Not bad , but without the heavy lifting in Snowrunner , meh Also , they could have added some new vehicles not just expys from Snowrunner Maybe when its on sale , sure , but im not buying a lesser version of Snowrunner fr
Everyones complaining its like snowrunner but worst but its its own game, there shouldn't be a comparison, snowrunner was fun until my friends stopped playing with me but this is fun without friends and a completely different mindset when playing
@Jehty21 because snowrunner was difficult alone and more enjoyable when you had multiple people helping deliver cargo, I don't need multiple people to help explore and if there's more help options then I don't need the help as much
Agreed. I actually put a decent chunk of hours into Mudrunner and Snowrunner, and am loving the heck out of this game. That said, I expected the negativity at first, because people who've put so many hours into a series are bound to need some time to adjust when changes are made to a new game in that series. There are also a surprising number of people judging the game based on incorrect information. Ex: I've seen multiple people complain about missions requiring them to "drive in circles" to explore an area, but those missions are meant to be completed via scanning the area with binoculars and/or the drone (as an early expedition explains). I've also seen loads of people complaining about having to interact with menus in between every mission and spend so much time prepping vehicles/supplies each time, but all you have to do is complete a few expeditions to unlock free roam, which works very similarly to Snowrunner. What gives me hope, however, is comparing the reviews of people who received early codes and have been playing for days already to those who just got the game and are giving a more kneejerk reaction. Those who've played the game longer tend to have a much more positive view of it. I think another few weeks will see a lot more positivity surrounding Expeditions. I just hope people give it a chance to grow on them rather than refunding after an hour or two of play.
The UI looks like someone with no passion had to do the job. The tools look heartless and too out of place. Snowrunner had a cool setting. They missed the mark what made their game so unique. The physics. Since they did nothing on this part, I wouldn´t even want to play it for free.
Its not playable for me. I have 500+ hours in Snowrunner and cannot get used to 2 different controls when changing back and forth. What did they think?
It looks fine but it has the same problem as Snowrunner. No physics, no realistic gearbox, and no challenge. Snowrunner's physics feels like playing with a toy.
after a spin tires and mud runner, its only disappointment, how for snow runner, for this is even worst, to much cheat engine that make game tooooo arcade, as i can see the game is made for joystic again, stupid controls, automatic gearbox, pedal to the metal, non logic places on map set as objective...all in all the snow runner and this "mud" runner worst from worst...it hard to believe it is from same maker...
before it was "MudRunner/SnowRunner - A Spintires Game. Now it's "A MudRunner game". What's next? It's getting a bit boring now. All of them feels just like a Spintires Mod/DLC but for a full price of a new game.
A few nights ago I ragequit Snowrunner after I rolled in a ravine in Russia 30 meters from the objective with no tree to winch from. Half hour wasted. I'll take the anchor, thank you very much.
