OK I live in the U.S. and I will do the conversion but I want to know how much a complete rebuild like that would cost me if I brought that pair of shoes to you for that job. I have several pairs of cowboy boots and over the years after having them resolved I know I have spent more than the cost of a new pair of boots but the cost is spread out over about 30 years. Thank you for a great video of your craftsmanship.

@@jiggsborah7041 greetings. Yes, South African here too, currently JHB, originally from Vereeniging. I remember growing up and seeing many of these “shoe repair” places as a kid, none were as talented as this shoe smith but there were many of those stores who either re-soled your shoes, or where you could punch a while in your belt or get a key cut etc. these days everything is cheaper to replace with a badly made short term solution that to actually repair an item that will last you for a lot longer if you spend a little extra to repair.

The only reason it's niche is because of the imported junk and molded soles. I myself, prefer a leather sole or a stacked leather heel. Being sensible high heels I eventually even had to stop wearing them which was a very sad occasion, due to Chronic knee issues that resulted in a knee replacement. I gave up the number of times I had those shoes repaired but well worth the effort. Now days living in the tropics I only ever wear Flitflops which are perfect for orthotic issues.

Wow Dan. Came across this Video by chance. What an amazing pair of shoes. That fella will have to walk around on his hands now. They are far smarter underneath. Now I know how much work you put into shoe repairs. You repaired sole and heels on mine earlier this year. Ok , they are only Clark’s shoes. I’ve had them for 25 yrs. now they are like new. Thank you.

Love your channel Dan. You do such a great job. Love the jokes and the antics! I'm in the U.S. and I'm 67 years old. When I was a young lad my dad had a shoe repair shop in our basement that he did as a side job. I spent many an hour in the basement helping out with the shoe repair chores. I love seeing all the machines and tools that remind me so much of my youth. Thanks for doing this channel and for being such a positive part of so many people's lives. Please keep the content coming.

I used to repair shoes as a parttime job in my childhood. The happy faces of the customers when they see the results is the real reward. I was pretty good at it, I also worked with Johan Rendenbach soles and expensive shoes, but what you show here is the next level. Absolutely a great job!

My grandfather was a shoemaker. I can’t count how many hours I spent in his workshop just looking at him work. The smells was amazing. I even was put to work doing the soles s on the wood clogs. Always a way to earn an ice cream. My uncle took over the machines and tools. Who knows / I might get them some day Good work.

Most of the smells are from toxic substances. The glue he is using (an all shoerepairers use) for example is abused by junkies.

That customer is gonna pee his pants when he sees how great his freshly restored and improved shoes came out.
