I was happy that I could put a new HDMI port on a friend's PS4 and a new micro-USB port on my son's Blue Yeti Microphone. .. . This was over the course of 3 weeks. Meanwhile, Alex has worked on 300+ devices in the two that I had carefully worked on. Thank you Alex. I absolutely love your videos. You are an engineer/artist and make this work look easy. This is not easy work if you are in-experienced. If I am ever in LA. I will definitely stop in and shake Alex's hand. Not just for congratulatory efforts, but in hopes that some of his knowledge somehow transfers to me through a handshake. I joke, but seriously good job, Alex. The work that you do is absolutely amazing and its strangely therapeutic to watch these fixes!!!

I have the same monitor and broke this connector off recently. Pads looked impossible to repair so I ended up buying a new board. Bravo to you for repairing this one, really impressive 👏🙌

There's also another way If you've the schematics of the board then you could run jumpers easily If not You could still do it but would've taken time Better than spending for a whole new board

Hey, i have an issue with my board also. The repair shop told me, they want to replace but they can not get a board from the manufaturer. I found one in ebay. Is it easy to replace a board?
@tallytarik
@tallytarik 2 года назад
@@lukasvonniederhausern6153 Yes, the board is quite easy to replace. There are some cables you'll need to unplug from the old board which you need to be careful with. But it's really just unplugging everything, unscrewing the old board, screwing in and connecting the new one. The hardest part is opening the monitor's plastic casing!

I am amazed at times how people can do such damage to their devices. Parts that are sturdily attached that for some reason get destroyed. I have electronic devices I bought years ago that are like new. I keep them clean and store them in safe places. But, that's what keeps Mr, Alex in business.

It happens... even if you move the connected device or drop it... it's normal with any port. It's just about numbers, how many devices work without problems. It's just about luck. Obviously Alex is going to see this more than a normal person because he's going to fix it.
@BertoldVdb

These monitors are badly designed, if you use the included USB-C cable it sticks out from the back quite a bit. Somebody walking past your desk could rip the port out.
@rksb93
@rksb93 2 года назад
The whole point of having USB-C was so that repairs are easier, but they always add some degree of proprietary-ness to the port and charge a lot for repairs. Great job Alex, keep up the great work

Nice work 👍 Glad that you protected your eyes as it is not always possible to place the UV light flat on a PCB, as in this case. I found that it did not take much reflected UV to make my eyes painful when not wearing UV400 glasses. The eye pain would really interfere with your working day. Keep up the good work Alex 👍👍

Also sometimes the customer doesn't know the truth. For eg. they swear black and blue the plug is bad but really is just the cable. But this is the only device that uses that cable so they can't test it properly. Or trying to use an old hdmi 2.0 cable on there new 3.0 tv. Cable worked fine before, tv must be bad. Or you get stuff like computer slow, plz fix. And it could be almost anything from bad start up programs to dying hdd... it's impossible to debug these things over the phone, but it only takes about 3 secs when it's in front of you to just know what the problem is and how to fix it because you look at and fix this stuff day in and day out, the customer does not, just just want there stuff fixes. And that's fine, they have money, we have skills. No further questions are needed.
