Melissa Berge have a friend set up high wnd vs drugstore so she has no clue. Ive seen those before and it was amazing how well they were able to guess by smell, shade and consistently. I bet you she would do really well as guessing which is which... if that’s what you meant.
Every once in a while you should do a “Flashback Foundation Friday” where you retry an old foundation that you reviewed with oily skin and see how it works for dry skin!! Especially ones that made you too oily/dewy. Love you and your channel!!!
Natasha Denona owns a makeup school. She originally designed her palettes for her students to buy and use in the industry. That's why when you break it down by price per gram it's less expensive than Anastasia's palettes are. I do not think average consumers need her palettes. If you don't buy it, it won't change her prices because she makes them for artists. I think now a days with RU-vid a lot of brands that aren't designed for everyday consumers are gaining popularity and being shoved in your face to buy when it's not realistic for most people's budgets. I will say though they are some of the best of the best imo.
I'm sure my words will probably get lost in the sea of comments, but I want to say a genuine thank you. For so much. For being yourself and a fellow pale princess, for introducing me to Wet and Wild mega length mascara for my bottom lashes, for the Wet and Wild cushion foundation which FINALLY (after years of not being able to find my correct shade match even after being shade matched at Sephora not once but twice), for helping me believe in myself and teaching me that everyone is beautiful in their own way. Please keep the videos coming!
I tried that mascara and I like the way it applies and how it looks, but it takes forever to dry so always ends up smudging under my eyes. Anyone else have this problem?
Imo drugstore eyeshadows are a no for me, except wet & wild. Everything else at the drugstore I will buy. Foundations and concealers, Eyeliners and mascara I think you can find some great affordable options. But the most I would consider spending for eyeshadow in a palette would be $65.00 US like the Huda palettes which I have purchased but that's the highest I'll go. $129 though, I would never do it.
Taylor, there's a dermatologist here on yt named Dr. Dray, she taught me about transepidermal water loss. So basically when ever your skin is wet, like after a shower, it goes through a pretty intense drying process. This can be prevented by gel moisturizers that act as humectants. Apply them while your skin is still wet, then your normal moisturizer. This applies for the face too. SERIOUSLY A GAME CHANGER. anyways, hope you see this.
To be fair, the bronzer is huge! I've had mine for over a year and with daily use, still haven't hit pan. But I completely understand that there are definitely better more affordable options out there - I was initially taken aback by the price too!
Drunk elephant is mostly garbage and there fear based marketing campaign of the suspicious 6 annoys me. Particularly for spreading the rumor that dimethicone is terrible for your skin.
I think there is something psychological where people feel like they HAVE to like an expensive product to justify having bought it. Thanks for sharing your honest reviews. Just because something is pricey and some people rave about it doesn’t mean it’s anywhere near worth the price.
Michelle Mac yes! It's refreshing so many people just say "it's so good" but like what about the fallout, dry vs creamy, easy to blend? It's just nice when you hear people say for that money it's not worth it. Thank you for the honestly.
I absolutely despise the tatcha silk canvas. Mostly because it’s so hyped up, so expensive and I’ve done a side by side with multiple primers and if anything it makes applying foundation more difficult. I know you’re a fan and It’s the purchase I regret the most! I adore my gold palette from Natasha Denona. It requires a bit of creativity to come up with super different looks within the palette but damnnnn the quality is 🙌😍❤️. It’s crazy how our experiences vary so much. And it’s why we all need to watch for joy and entertainment and take what our favorites gurus say as advice 😊
I've been eyeing up the DE babyfacial even though I was also unimpressed with B-Hydra, didn't realize I already had a dupe with The Ordinary's peel. You're out here saving lives and money lol
The Ordinary is actually higher grade than drunk elephant and more stable because it has less ingredients. More stable means it's chemically balanced and does not expire because no other impurities have been added to the concentration. This is a huge selling point to me with The Ordinary, they are just, ordinary, pure and nothing unnecessary or fancy pants.
I have tried the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial and The Ordinary peel side by side (one on each side of my face) for about two months and the results are pretty much identical. Plus The Ordinary one is fun to use because of the color. Definitely not worth it to pay for the DE.
Check out all the products offered by The Ordinary they're amazing. Their HA is the best quality I've ever used. Hyaluronic acid is sold everywhere these days and the quality is sub par, you forget quality until you use one like The Ordinary because you use to much and it balls up. That's good. HA has large molecules that's how it pulls moisture into your skin. Anyway $7 for top notch HA I'm in. And the list goes on and on. They have menu kind of things set up if you don't know what your skin needs or how to start. Wayne Goss has a video on the ordinary w/ an AM PM suggested protocol.
The only thing from The Ordinary that I think isn't as good or better than the high-end version of the product is squalane oil. Biossance's is much better, in my opinion. Everything else, I say definitely go with The Ordinary so you can save yourself money while still getting great results.
Girl...I 💯 agree with you "most expensive items are usually not worth the money" I can't even explain how many times I tried something high end and I'm literally thinking that someone switched the product inside bc it doesn't feel high end. The main reason why I started my channel is to show people that you can create beautiful looks that do not have a gaint $$$$ price tag. I know so many people in my life that only live by like Marc Jacob's and Dior ect. and pretty much only stupidly expensive products (btw these people aren't rich). And whenever I try to tell them about dupe of the same products they just bought they look at me like I'm some hobbo off the streets.
Darya if you put everything in the exact same thing and presented it to those who swear by high end, they’d have their world flipped upside down. I like LA Girl, Jordana lip and eye liners perform better than most high end and those are $2-3 products. That’s just one example of how ridiculous it is that people feel they need to spend high prices to get quality products. Same with brushes and other tools anymore. There is just no need and I love it (if only drugstore would stop raising prices to be nearly high end prices now, lol.)
Skincarejunkie yes thank you!!! I actually tell that to some of my clients all the time. If I were to take away the price tag and name just put the product on and you guess which one is which you wouldn’t tell. And that pretty much sums up how I judge high end. Can I tell this is a $50 blank, or am I forcing myself to keep it just so to justify keeping it.
Also the reason a lot of high end shampoos don’t suds up is because many shampoos are being formulated without sulfates which is the ingredient in skincare and shampoos that make them suds which is mostly for effect but they strip everything from everything. So yeah it took me awhile to get used to it because I color my hair. But my hairstylist said my hair is the healthiest it’s ever Been so like hard to say
I love this video!!! I have drugstores products that I love! Like wet n wild photofocused foundation and ppl just look at me "like are you kidding" and they wont even try it bc it's so affordable. I have a variety of makeup drugstore and high end. Like you said if it works it works no matter the price.
@@zulyc8641 that's to bad bc it's such a great quality foundation. My sister tried and it just wasn't enough coverage for her liking and it just didnt sit well on her skin. Maybe the photofocused foundation stick will work?
Great video! Thanks for shelling out some truth nuggets on these products. Nothing on heaven or earth would compel me to spend $129 on a single eyeshadow palette, even if it contains magic gold. I've swatched the Natasha Denona palettes in store and never felt tempted to take the plunge. They aren't significantly superior to Anastasia or some Indie brand palettes (i.e. from Colourpop or Juvia's Place) to justify the crazy price difference. Kudos for confirming my suspicions and saving me $$$. xo
Try Briogeo hair products!! They are a little pricey, but they brought my hair back from the dead after over bleaching, etc. All natural ingredients, six free, erc etc. I'm not one to spend too much on shampoo and conditioner, but Briogeo is amazing!!! I tried the Dont Despair, Repair shampoo and deep conditioning hair mask (which I use just as my regular conditioner AND a ten minute hair mask once a week!). Got the biggest sizes of each back in March and the 16oz shampoo ran out yesterday and the 32oz hair mask is only half gone!!!!
@@lindseymorgan3304 no I havent, sorry!! But I've heard from those who have that they love it just as much as their other products. But I honestly cant say for sure as I havent used it myself.
amy pease Which deep conditioning mask? I’m browsing the website based on your recommendations and it looks like there are two. Is it the one in the pot?
I’ve been wishing for years that people would do a “no packaging” challenge. Have someone else set up your mystery (high end or low end or indie) product choice in tiny cups (this obviously wouldn’t work for every item). Just to see how much of the opinions are based on liking a brand or the cost or whatever.
Tiffany X Stephanie Marie did this with her foundations. She put them in little pots and numbered them. Then randomly picks one out and uses it to see her thoughts on it!
Video idea:let someone order/pick 2 or 3 foundations that you dont know/havent tried. Let the person put a few pumps (enough for a whole face) of these on a foundation palette and see how your impression will be without knowing the brand or packaging. At the end you can reveal what brand the foundation was.
Hey Taylor.... you should do a blind foundation test with multiple foundations! Some you may know of from RU-vid, some not at all... some super cheap, some really expensive.... just a thought :)
I feel when I got the too faced born this way foundation, I thought it would work wonders!! RU-vid made me buy it... but when I got it I was disappointed and returned it. So I get it, and I appreciate this video
I've heard some YTers recently talking shit on people buying makeup with the expectation of maybe returning it. As soon as huge vloggers stop encouraging non-stop mediocre releases, maybe we can cut down on wasted makeup returns. Glad people like Taylor are keeping it real for us.
Honestly, at a certain point, a lot of products are not worth being expensive. Even if they’re incredible, just knowing you can get a similar product that works just as well for a fraction of the cost, it’s just unjustifiable to pay so much. Looking at you Tom Ford!
For your dry skin, have you tried Dr. Jart+ ceramide cream? The liquid and actual cream goes such a long way when used together, so you need so little of it. It's so pricey but holy crap, it SAAAAAVED my skin
I finally decided to buy the CYO lifeproof foundation on black Friday when it was 30% off. I got the same shade 101 and I also have really dry skin and I am SOOO IN LOVE with it! It makes my skin look so smooth! The shade is perfect. Its so nice not having to mix it. I seriously never want to try another foundation again in my life. Im good. Thank you for recommending it for so long. If you hadn't i would have never found it. 😍😂
I'm Sam Y'all r killing me😭 I wanna try it so bad but that shade is sold out literally everywhere..,online, in stores...I think Tay has *all* of them crammed in that IKEA closet😂💗 They seriously need to make more(and not tell Tay until I can snag just 1 little bottle 😂💕💕)
@@deniseherud hahahahahah. I know! She literally has the whole stock in one of those drawers. I wish it was sold at ulta or somewhere too so it was more accessible.
By the time I looked on to buy it, they only had shade 108 left. It's too dark, but I'm going to try it with a lighter foundation that I already have. I went back and checked tonight, but it's still sold out. The lightest shade was 104. I'm buying it!
I love that you mentioned the drunk elephant AHA/BHA exfoliant. I have a sample size of it and I'm like,,, don't I already own this?? folks, the little elephant on the package isn't gonna exfoliate your skin, it's the AHAs and BHAs. I do like the texture of the drunk elephant one but like, soooo not worth it. Also your skin and makeup is STUNNING
Was going to get CYO lifeproof on Walgreens online, in 101 (yes, my shade, not just worshipping you....maybe 🤣) and it was completely sold out online. I think all the extras you had in your foundation back ups broke their supply!! LOL!
You have saved me some money. I was wanting to save up for the omega bronzer, but I already struggle with patchy bronzer. Ain’t nobody got time for that
My observation is that people who are sent Natasha Denona say it’s worth the money, but those who buy them say they aren’t. It’s easy to say something is worth the money if you didn’t actually have to buy it!
I love the ND palettes I purchased, and I think they're arguably worth the money. Pan size is huge, the colors may not appear unique but they are, and blending is a dream. I'm more complimentary on the mattes because I feel like the shimmers are fairly ordinary (with a few gorgeous exceptions) and have a fair amount of fallout. Still, I find myself reaching for the ND shadows constantly, and I have much less interest in eyeshadow palettes from other brands since buying hers. I don't know, maybe I'm falling for hype, but I actually really love the shadows and don't regret a cent I spent on them.
You should try the Korres pomegranate AHA mask! It has lactic acid and sacylic acid and it is just the best quick exfoliating mask ever! It’s only like $28.
I have a Laura Geller highlighter that I LOVE BBUUTTTTT....it isn't bad but my Wet N' Wild mega glow one is SO much more blinding and a whole lot less $$!! now I'm trying to find a drug store foundation that it good for pinky undertones and is full coverage... any suggestions anyone? The only ones I've tried so far are Maybelline and Wet N' Wild ( I LOVE their photo focus one!)
I liked the Maybelline Better Skin one. The lightest shade was fairly neutral but since I have to mix it lighter with white mixer, that works pretty well for me. I really wanna try l'oreal pro-glow soon
Ha ha I was going to recommend photo focus...very pink undertones! One I like right now is the cover girl healthy elixir. Good coverage and works on my pink skin. Save your receipt bc it runs dark!
I love the Revlon Color Stay in shade 110. It is very fair with pink undertones. Another good option is the L’Oreal Infallible pro-Matte in Classic Ivory.
Bae you should try the hair brand Verb! My hairstylist just used the ghost line on me and i'm obsessed! Sephora sells them too! Only $16 for most products
