Thank you for introducing me to Maya Deren. I once made a video where i depicted a mirror-faced black figure before just to see that this Lady did the same 80 years ago. And i thought wow, what specific thing did go wrong in both of our lives that we produced that haha. Love your content! Congrats on that 10K by the way ;) Keep going!!

The first several minutes of Rouben Mamoulian's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1931) are also shot with a subjective camera like "Lady in the Lake." But, as the video acknowledges, special attention should be given to "Lady" for extending this uncommon approach for the entire film.

Great video! If you haven't seen it, check out Dark Passage (1947), to which Lady In The Lake was a forbearer.

Early MTV was very open to experimental videos, any videos really. The British new wave artists were influenced by German Expressionism (1920s) in film.

My name is Evan Chester. This video is kinda old so I can't remember what sources I used off the top of my head, but I can try to look into it. I know the work of David Bordwell has always been a great resource, especially his Film History textbook.
