Experiments on Plasma-Wall Interaction 

At the analysis stations of the tandem accelerator at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching, the surfaces of samples from fusion experiments are investigated and modified. Using various projectile ions accelerated to energies of several million electron volts, it is possible to determine which chemical elements the near-surface layers of the samples are composed of. In this way, the processes on the walls of fusion experiments can be analysed.
